  1. true, you can't make a game changing play if you aren't "in the game". But we actually were in a lot of games. Our defense wasn't making big plays. Dead last in the NFL in takeaways. For all the talk about Ejiro's defense. They didn't take the ball away. They didn't make many big plays. Which in what you actually want in a D in today's NFL. And Burns flat out just doesn't make a lot of plays in general. Whether we are in the game or not. Which can't be said about Brown, Luvu, etc. For the last 2 seasons, they have been our best 2 overall defenders, not Burns. I'd lock up Brown and Luvu first.
  2. We gave up a 3rd rounder for CJ Henderson. Who never looked good and had tons of red flags. We gave up a 3rd rounder for Sam Darnold who completely busted out of NY. Jaycee Horn has 1 red flag. Staying on the field. And when he is on the field he is a bad bad man. His trade value is more than 5th I would think pretty easily. I'd give up a 3rd for a bad CB. I think the big issue a team would have in acquiring him.....would be if Jaycee Horn would then sign a contract that made sense for them. It's the contract issue on Horn not would a team give up a 3rd or even 2nd for him. I think they would happily take that gamble on a draft pick. But how do you then pay him.
  3. I don’t seen Burns disrupting much. I see him doing the same thing pretty much all the time. Doing nothing in the run game and speed rushing the edge outside. Rinse and repeat. and he isn’t as good as the Hassan Reddicks of the world. So I got no use paying him like he is some tier past Reddick.
  4. ask Derek Brown if he had a down year or Luvu Brian Burns is a one dimensional pass rusher and on top of that his pass rushing game is one dimensional. That’s the real problem. he isn’t our best defender. That’s a title I’d maybe give him one season.

Caldwell was literally sitting in on the interviews for the next era with Tepper when the crap settled. How you think he got in such good graces with Tepper then…..it surely wasn’t what the football team did with his advice.

Caldwell in his own words on what he would be doing here. Basically be everywhere. Every single room. O, D, ST. Listen and give my advice when asked. yeah, go to go find that photoshop of Lord Varys

And how did that O pan out….with the Caldwell help? We aren’t really saying anything that different. and at the end….everyone on O is gone and Caldwell’s status improved with Tepper. Again, the math ain’t mathing. Why would you want our new HC to have Caldwell forced on his staff given what occured and where he presently stands with Tepper? you call Brown an understudy. Some claim he installed the O, wrote the playbook on his own. Everything about that O should be burned to the ground. Jim is part of it. I don’t care to guess which parts. That’s the point. if the new HC wants an old HC? Cool. Let him go pick.

Yeah, this is going to my axe to grind until it doesn’t exist. Jim Caldwell needs to go. There is no logical way you can be hired to oversee the 2023 O….and somehow have your standing improve here. Which he has happened with him. That math ain’t mathing. he makes a great point about loyalty about it has to run to the next HC or at worst Morgan. New blood needed. Everyone in house can’t have a longer relationship with Tepper than the new HC, Get Jim Caldwell out of there. He was brought in to help Tepper with hires after that abomination of an O and disaster season. He makes no sense retaining next season. He is a direct channel to Tepper based on them nonsensically having him help “fix” this in the interviewing

as fan, we are just blindly guessing where the cancer is and isn't. That's why I like the clean slate. Because you take it all out. wouldn't be hard to imagine defensive people going to Tepper tired of the bullpoo that was being put on them by the offense. I think it is likely Tabor was a bad actor in Game of Thrones. I don't think a single other person fired makes much sense as one of Tepper's minions. So that means more are still here.

but culture our sure does. BOA sure does. I pretty much always lobby for a clean slate when things reach a certain level of awful. We hit that in 2023. So I don't mind if in end up throwing the baby out with the bathwater in those scenarios. I mean, I buy into the Game of Thrones reporting and poo culture. And I don't buy that was just Tabor and Thomas Brown as some like to suggest. Not implying it was Ejiro. But I suspect those folks will still be around if there isn't a cleaned house from the Frank era.

I'd probably favor consistency and building in a direction over 2 picks at the very end of round 3. but granted, you actually would have to hire another good DC. So I guess, then I would have to lean toward a proven old head in that spot.

defense would be starting over after one year in this scenario.

I'll be shocked if Brady actually does it. Think since the time he said he would and today....a lot has changed. He probably has been sitting back and watching Peyton and all these podcasters do their thing...
  14. I mean, that is the one potential positive with Tepper. He isn't going to keep doing the same thing. He might do the wrong thing. But after a wrong, he makes a noticeable change in approach. So there is at least reflection into what went wrong or wasn't working. Rhule was drastically different than Ron, Frank drastically different than Rhule, new hire is pretty different than Frank. Rhule era was Retread QBs, Frank era was selling out to get the best possible draft pick QB possible. I mean, Tepper isn't stubbornly doing the same wrong thing over and over. He is at least trying to find a secret sauce that works out.
  15. I got no issue with this in theory... but I think Burns played himself out of that wish coming true. You not only have to give up a first for him....but then have to pay him on top of that. I think too many teams would rather just spend that 1st rounder on a DE themselves for the cheap contract and hopes of getting a more well rounded edge player.

in addition, if you are playing the odds....got to think if we go the Ejiro path in 2024 that it has high odds of being the end of the line for one reason or another. So what the point of a rebuilding team in 2024 going down the path where they start over on D in 2025. new HC should bring in his own guys. Everyone on staff needs to see the door from last year. Let the new HC who is known for having a good individual culture to him focus on bringing in guys he wants and not "influenced" by the owner and just taking leftovers from a year we all would like to forget.

I'm still in the camp of wanting the entire staff gone from last season. I want a 100% rebuild. We don't get it because of what the last brain trust did with our picks but that is out of our control. What is in our control....is letting the new HC bring in a 100% new staff.
  18. CMC isn't similar. CMC would have been a resource to aid and help develop a MASSIVE investment in Bryce Young. That's why trading him was wrong for so little in the end. Thomas Davis didn't start his career in Carolina injured every other game.
  19. is that a better outcome than paying him....and him remaining exactly what he has been here for his entire career?
  20. I'd deal him for a 2nd. We are rebuilding franchise that can't pay him. But outside of that, I'd just keep him and then let him walk pending he wouldn't sign some crazy incentive deal.
  21. 3 years into their careers Jaycee Horn - 22 games Jeff Otah - 29 games Thomas Davis - 46 games (shorter seasons)
  22. First question you got to ask is.....should the Panthers extend him to a fat healthy contract given his injury history? If the answer is no or BUT only if he plays for a cheap deal....then a rebuilding team should flat out trade people that aren't part of the future IMO pending a good deal could get made.
  23. I think more signs point to Caldwell being a Tepper voice than not. So, I lean that way. Either way, it comes down to why take the risk of keeping him around given that if you are fan? Caldwell was tasked to help oversee a complete dogwater O. One that failed all season to make adjustments to function. In fact all it did was get worse and worse. Same for Bryce. And at the end of the Game of Thrones.....Caldwell ended up in the best standing with David Tepper. Not sure how him loving football outweighs all the signs that point to him likely being a Tepper ear guy.
  24. “More than a few”…. I mean, Campen wasn’t fired because of that….Tepper clearly encouraged and sought it. Which is why he had more than Campen doing it. It would be naive to think the many are now gone. I still think Jim Caldwell is one. How else do you go from advising the worst O in the NFL….to helping hire the next era. He is Tepper guy.
  25. Jim Caldwelll needs to go. And quick. Not sure why so many don’t seem to care he is still hanging around. What was his job last year??? And on top of that, who is still in Tepper’s good graces after the Game of Thrones reporting on Frank? Caldwell certainly seemed to of skyrocketed in standing in Tepper’s eye. I don’t view that as good at all.
