I'm not pinning anything singularly on the fact he has Monday meetings with his coaches....but the Monday meetings are indeed PART of the puzzle of explaining what makes Tepper such a very bad owner. He has been and remains too involved in the actual football component of what he owns.... and that is basically a consensus nationally and locally in regards to the Panthers.

Dave Canales is one and done.... part 2.

the O improving off Frank certainly was possible. That basically was what the season was all about. And in that regard, Canales has failed pretty bad to date. -
what's grasping? acknowledging that we know for a fact all NFL owners are in fact not doing that? They don't. And we found out about these meetings via a vet NFL coach that stumbled into this nightmare for a couple months. actual owners for the most part aren't doing that....because they don't know diddly squat about actual football, winning games, scheming, playcalling, etc. So why waste a coaches time every week. Most owners are big picture dudes/gals. Not inserting themselves into the day to day/weekly aspect of a football team playing football. As has been said for a LONG time. Tepper should hire someone to run the football team and stay out of it. the real monkey is Tepper. The dude who doesn't know more about the actual football aspect of the Panthers than any random huddler yet wants to be part-time GM/HC.

with this OL? Andy Reid would find ways to win ball games. Andy Reid also is one of the best at scheming guys open for success. Not just asking a man to beat a man. Andy Reid basically slept walked to double digit wins with a vet QB who wouldn't take shots downfield pre Mahomes. -
well, we know all NFL owners don't meet with their coaches every Monday morning after every game. A super hands on owner like Tepper does. And that is universally deemed his biggest flaw as an owner. Inserting himself too much into the actual football aspect of things.

yep, the box is full of Denver fans in the back wearing orange too

Jaycee Horn post game confrontation with Sean Payton
CRA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Payton is a douche. Lots of old clips of Brees having to talk Payton into football etiquette back in the the day. Brees ain't there to do that no more. But I actually don't like Horn fussing about it either to Payton. Fuss at your locker room. That's how deserves it. Your teammates. -

I'm not saying you fire him...but you certainly should be judging him on the O side....and it's not good. So if you do bring him back and he didn't show anything? Well, you don't draft a QB #1 overall. You give him a year 2. You invest in a defense. You make him show you something. If he can't in year 2 with a vet QB then you move on and let the new guy draft a QB. We sort of off track now. Frank in theory should be getting the can w/ Bryce this year. Canales hasn't shown enough to let him use that #1 on a QB IMO. -
Sean Payton ‘not a good offense we played..’ s Fowler

Coaches don't generally say these type things. Generally it's a NFL is the NFL. All teams are good. Winning is hard narrative vs anyone. Dude just said the truth out loud. He couldn't even BS it lol. -

bolonga. Canales was given the most expensive OL in the entire NFL and they are dang good overall on the season. That's the engine to any offense. It's a good one. Canales is an O guy. Forget the D, and forget winning. D talent stinks and you can't win with it. That was a decision Canales and company made. We are supposed to be judging the O. Not giving it a pass because certain aspect stink by design. The O isn't supposed to be this bad. -
I want them to trade down and draft all defense (generally speaking). we have a good OL. We have young skill talent all over the map we are supposed to be developing. We should go out and rent a good vet QB. That should be the play. Go tell Deion to drive up our draft haul with another team. Deion going to make a big fuss when the dust settles this season and sees us at #1.

I don't think him being fired means his fate is/was tied to Bryce. Andy Dalton has looked frankly just as bad the last couple weeks as Bryce Young. It hasn't mattered if it was a bad young QB or a vet. O is garbage....behind one of the highest paid and better OLs in the NFL. That's a Canales problem. Personally, I think it all stems back to Tepper setting things up for failure day 1. I was actually ok w/ the rah rah cheerleader type but a first time HC (whose experience is 1 year as a meh OC) did not need to also be calling plays. That never made sense. Canales should of hired a real OC. To call plays. While he figured out the HC part. To me, that is why he has no O after the first scripted series. Canales isn't a good playcaller and he is in overhead trying to be everything. Which makes him good at nothing. He isn't calling good plays, managing the game well, etc.

LITERALLY, the primary reason an iffy hire was justified.....is he was pimped as a QB guru who could "fix" Bryce. He gave us the worst version of Bryce and gave up on that 2 weeks in. So once you remove that from the equation, we literally just hired someone unqualified to be a HC and no reason to hang your hat on the why. 1 year as a very meh OC in reality is his resume. And he is being exactly that here. Forget the D, forget winning. You give a good O coach THIS OL....and they find better and more consistent offense than Canales. He stinks. I don't care who the QB is. -
If you have Frank this OL….Frank would have. a better offense than Canales has. And I’m no Frank fan.
-
Probably a 5th or 6th would be good. But the Panthers would probably let him sit and rot vs taking that trade on the chin this season. Think they quietly deal him this offseason. Parting with him right now just draws more attention to Canales, Tepper, Carolina.

Dalton has averaged 150 yards with 1.6 INTS the last 3 weeks so I’ll go with 130 yards and 2 INTs for Bryce.

Dan Graziano: Panthers will trade Diontae Johnson
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
if you are going to overpay vet types to have them be in Carolina (which is what you would be doing with Johnson).....then they absolutely need them to be top tier character/leadership types. It's pretty simple. makes no sense to sign Johnson on any level. This team needs to built something from the ground up. You don't need to pay misfit types. And that's why he is here to begin with. Use one as a body for a year? Sure. Which is what we are presently doing. -

I think it would be overblown if it was Theilen. But Johnson found himself in Carolina for a reason. So everyone is judged differently -

This mindset results in paying Robbie Chosen Doug Frank Anderson….when you shouldn’t. there is a reason Johnson is here to begin with. He is a #2 that leaves a lot to be desired. Think he already is starting to let it show. I don’t think he plays very hard. And with his” I can’t play everyone position and make all the plays ” response the other week….thats not the type dude needed. We need leadership from the non youth guys we carry. That ain’t him. -
was that a good game? Or a good quarter?
-
that's no archaic thinking. You have to be able to make plays from the pocket and attack downfield. Cam Newton did it. Lamar Jackson does it. Josh Allen does it. That doesn't mean you ONLY have to make plays from the pocket. But you have to be able to exist in a NFL pocket and be able to threaten a D. Name a successful QB that hasn't been able to threaten a D from within the pocket.

I mean, he put up 1000+ with rookie Levis last year. Results is what he does. Just about staying on the field. -
