The entire league could of had him for cheap....now the worst team in sports wants to lock him up because of 2 games. Only one of which was really good.

I think Johnson's ceiling is really a #2. His hands aren't good enough and that 50/50 ball sort of highlights what he isn't. He isn't a rookie like Leggette. He basically is what he will be. I loved what I saw out of Leggette. He is raw. First real start. Basically had Johnson numbers. But once the game slows down....you got to like the way he already uses his body out there.

We are rebuilding team yet have no cap. It is what it is. Overpaying vets isn’t what you do. You can’t mismanage going forward because we mismanaged in the past. what we should do is exactly what we did with Johnson. Find another discount vet. We are so starved for offense all it took was 1 game and folks want him locked up.

Probably not. We would have to overpay him if he had a good season and our cap situation already stinks.

Rebuilding teams don’t trade for old veterans. And just because we botched rebuilding for years and now frame it as retooling doesn’t mean we aren’t at ground zero of a rebuild

Trey Lance weren’t for a 4th and that’s with NFL tools. He is the most comparable insta bust that a team overpaid for. so using that as the market, 5th or 6th for Bryce IMO and we would be lucky. Basically just a team trying to get around the waivers that was interested in a project. The not having the physical tools part is the killer.

Canales’ O essentially requires a gunslinger though. It’s not some creative slice and dice you up O that requires a surgeon. Canales essentially just needs a young Jake. It’s why he went out of his way for what XL represents. I’ve always said Canales is just updated Foxball at its core. Which I’m cool with. WRs might matter more than the QB in the end

Dalton isn’t a good NFL QB. Adam Theilen isn’t a good WR. They are veterans, they can show up and be relied on, and give you a certain caliber of play. or maybe you have a lower bar of what good is than I. Good for me, is the tier right below Mahomes. The great tier. Dalton is a vet JAG. Like how Flacco can show up at 88 years old and do basics for a team. Flacco isn’t good. there aren’t a lot of good QBs. Tons trying to develop young QBs. Potential.

Andy Dalton is the Adam Theilen of QBs. Which is why both are where they are today. They aren’t bad. They aren’t NFL good either in the year 2024. They are both experienced players that can clear a certain bar of play

No point. Will just hurt whatever tiny trade value he has. It’s like asking Joe Flacco to run a zone read offense. It clearly doesn’t fit. the Panthers organization made zero sense with the plan going into this year. The QB and O just didn’t fit. Wishing it would was just silly. That’s not what a pro team should be doing.

Today was XLs first NFL start. 4th game. Adam Theilen didn’t look like Adam Theilen 4 games into his career. Catching comes easier when it all slows down.

Andy is a fine bandaid but there are odds you start next season with an entire new QB room. would have been nice if our bandaid/bridge would have been a young guy brought in

Sure, but they basically were like….you a forced to comeback and we are burning down this D. Here’s a couple dollars, pick some bargain bin kids you like. I think it was all strategic. Plan was to improve the O hopefully and have the D stink, then when we only win a couple games….Evero, the dude forced to be here, takes the hit. That way the new era gets the angle of success/improvement. There is basically always a fall guy most seasons you can see coming. Evero was talked about being it before the season started off. What DC had comparable talent to this present day roster whose team was ranked between 17-22…..the past couple seasons? To an extent I agree with your general gist but this roster is uniquely bad

We have 1 cornerback. That’s basically our defensive roster. There is no scheme to not suck when you have no talent. Evero was setup to fail this year. He will fail. He will be the fall guy face this year.

What does losing to UGA have to do with who is the best team in the ACC? UGA isn’t in the ACC or it would be easy to declare them the best Miami has played 1 ACC game….and got bailed out with an overturn to win that game vs a bad VT team (at home) Clemson has smoked their two ACC opponents. They got better D. They are better coached. And an overall better O. Better roster. Experience. Miami has a better QB.
