I think Young accounted for 4 yards on that first one. Bryce didn’t lead them. Rico got them up….after Rico got them back into a game Bryce had essentially lost them with a career effort.

Dennis Cox and Chris Lea on performance today
CRA replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rico 10000% saved Bryce Young from being benched for the Dallas game. The way that game was going there was going to be no way to trot Bryce out next week at home if it kept going like it did. Bryce probably is safe from bench risk until the next home and home presents itself. He can’t be playing bad going into that next Atl game and then lay an egg in it. -
I assume at that point Canales likely didn’t want BY to attempt a real pass because of what a nightmare he had been at that point….but you can’t be sure given how bad his throws so consistently are. I don’t think at any point he was looking for a TD because the only play on the table where he looked would have been a endzone fade f sorts to tiny Horn Jr. Which is beyond dumb.
-
So everyone was wondering why he was laughing… Apparently a camera man took the pass to the head. https://x.com/sharpfootball/status/1974904929447002328?s=46&t=f55N0zsNFevD-XGJBWj1-A * camera guy appeared unaffected by Bryce’s version of a fastball to the head so don’t worry about him

Your close. See last year. It’s nerves the front office will see a really bad QB improve and still be bad……and we waste EVERYONES time next year. Just like we are doing this year. Make no mistake. This is a lost and pointless year because of last years error

BY knows the playcall and he knows he doesn’t want to throw those balls. Has Bruce ever thrown TMac a good vertical ball? Not talking about a deep post. Has ever thrown a good vertical ball to any WR in his career? He sucks at it. He also doesn’t have the arm for a lot of the comeback stuff as well on the outside. The playcalls is going to make stuff a no go for BY….because he knows if his setup isn’t perfect the throw will be horrific
-
Hell, PJ Walker gives you that. It doesn’t take draft capital to put some warm bodies with legit NFL tools on a roster. We intentionally have the QB room we have. There is no defense to it
-
We certainly are going to be in the running for the top pick IMO. Start of the schedule is the easy portion….and BY has been bad in all of them. Wins came off things that can’t be replicated.
-
I want entertaining pass offense and and the illusion we got a punchers chance. Bryce robs us of that. we need some random miracle to pull off a win. Like a Penix implosion or a career game from a RB
-
Some of that is just BY and not Dave. You can go back to the preseason. BY just ain’t pulling the trigger on a lot of vertical and big plays even if it’s in the call with the coverage. His arm is weak and his balls are often bad when he does it. and no, I don’t enjoy it. I don’t want a chunk pass offense featuring a middle schooler at QB that stinks at it. Solution is to replace the QB. Not have way more bad plays.
-
Again, our QB is BY. we got lucky today. Big plays aren’t what we do NOR are they what we are trying to do. Again, BY is the QB. The pass game you want requires a new QB.
-
BY can’t and won’t make the plays you want. Playcalling isn’t going to matter
-
We don’t win today without Rico getting those carries. We would been blown out if the game stayed in Young’s hands down 17
-
Rico had 6 runs of 10+ yards. Thats a rate of every 3-4th touch went for 10+. That was a top 5 Panthers history performance AND he did that with a D only playing 20 yards and no threat of a pass. Sure Adrian Peterson had a lot of nothing runs in his good days too
-
Rico was awesome. That’s probably one of the top rushing performances in Panther history. It would make a top 5 list. Rico put them on his back
-
Yeah, it’s just a Bryce exception. Comments can be made about Canales, XL, a lineman, a LB after a win and no one takes issue and it’s a allowed…..but do it about the dude who we have to win in spite of, that essentially sabotages out ability to win every single week (we overcame it today) and some got big problems with that.
-
lol. I’ve never been more confident in a Panthers take than the one of Young’s lack of physical tools and the fact he doesn’t fit this scheme (and it can’t function properly with him) you have 5 straight weeks to open up this season on top of his career telling you that
-
Sure we do. We for the development of TMac, XL, Horn, Evans, etc all in play as well as getting the O scheme up and actually running (growing and becoming better). All that gets delayed….which keeps us sucking longer and increases the odds of another house cleaning Plenty to gain but not having a dude out there that can’t run these NFL offenses
-
Canales can’t do that. That’s already been answered. We aren’t waiting on that question any longer. It’s also not about fixing it’s about fit. It’s why Geno was “fixed”. It wasn’t Canales it was the O he went into. Geno was a deep ball passer and went to a deep ball O. It’s why Geno now sucks again. Bryce doesn’t fit and Canales can’t fix that
-
Dalton might be washed but he functions as a QB is supposed to in these offenses to work…..that’s why every year when he appears he sets the passing highs on the year. and you can’t have a well run org where you have a unique Bryce exception for performance at this point
-
The example of the problem is accurately seen looking at last season. He is so bad and lacks so many tools…..and we have skewed the bar so much you could see improvement this year. I mean he has been bad every single week without fail. So he could “improve”. Just like last year…and it screws us because we have a dude playing QB who can’t do NFL basics. Then you got people claiming he improved
-
Canales doesn’t seem pass happy. He seems illogical.
-
Nah, the issue with the Double Trouble approach is you rob RBs from getting in grove and getting hot. We know Hubbard gets better the more he gets. Rico got rolling today too. I think the rep split nerfs RBs to a agree and prevents them from ever getting rolling we got to good RBs. Thats a great thing. But I don’t want them altering series. You don’t get special days like today doing that
-
I’d argue it’s the people at BOA. The ones who can’t figure out the obvious. but I’m sure the Teppers would like your post over mine
-
I’m not a grouch. Water is just wet. And we get it thrown in our face every single Sunday. So I say the simple and obvious.
