  1. I'm not sure it was. He had average to below average NFL arm strength (good not great is a common term used). That's about where Bryce is IMO. They are both rhythm throwers who have elite accuracy and throw to where the WRs are going to be before they are there. It makes for some bad misses when the wrong routes are ran, but is a thing of beauty when it's firing on all cylinders. Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison Sr were elite route runners which paired perfect with Peyton's arm/style.
  2. What would his red flags be and why is he universally considered the top prospect over Maye in this draft?
  3. Peyton's arm was never elite. His vision and accuracy was. If Young was 6'2" he would have been one of the cleanest prospects to come out in a while. His weakness was his size, but that really wasn't much of an issue yesterday.
  4. That's the most frustrating part. We truly looked like the better team but just kept making bad mistakes. However we all knew there will be growing pains this year.
  5. I think he knows this. A lot of his incompletions were throw aways with a couple intentional dirt throws because the play blew up. One INT was just a great read by Bates and the second Young just didn't see the safety (Bates again).
  6. Why would you tank for Maye when Williams is in this class? Williams is QB1 in this next class and it's not really that close.
  7. I doubt he will bust. Worst case for him is he never becomes elite, but is just an average NFL starter. Even then we just need to build a solid team around him and wait for an eventual replacement like the Chiefs did with Smith/Mahomes.
  8. Luvu had a bad missed tackle in the backfield on Bijan's TD play.
  9. and he had 4 other guys do better than him in receiving on that same team with the same QB. He is a high WR2 IMO. Never been great at getting TDs and would disappear some games without getting separation. He is solid at YAC, but has left some to be desired in route running. We could definitely use him, but he isn't some game changer the huddle is making him out to be now that he is gone. To show the full picture Fields was 24/37 for 216 yard 1 TD and 1 INT plus 59 yards on scrambles while getting pressured more than any QB in week 1. Moore contributed 2 catches for 25 yards. If only we had that we would have won....
  10. No way. We had 3 TOs on the road (4 if you can't the failed 4th down conversion). On top of that our punt returned pinned us on the 1 yard line. I remember plenty of games where Moore couldn't get separation until the game was already over. What did Moore have yesterday with the Bears?
  11. They played well through most of last season. We had a 4th round rookie starting at OG and still looked solid. They will have their share of bad games I am sure, but they definitely aren't my top concern from week 1. Not to mention Corbett will be coming back after a few more weeks.
  12. Man these guys really can't let it go that the team went in a different direction. It's sad really and I don't think Stroud was able to even score a touchdown in his rookie debut. Growing pains are just part of it.
  13. Wasn't he the die hard Stroud guy until the day of the draft?
  14. We need to get Mingo vertical more too. He is a big body with some speed. Young overthrew him on a possible 99 yard TD.
  15. This year is pretty much dedicated to developing our franchise QB. Benching him would be pointless.
  16. Why can’t Fields make the next leap???? Here is the answer…
  17. Luvu had a bad game. Should have hit Bijan in the backfield on his TD, dropped an INT just off the top of my head. We would just need to allocate some of that cap for the OL. A weapon for Young and possibly extending some OL for example would be a start.
  18. I was about to post something similar. We need to lock in Brown before the DL market gets reset by another player. Burns and Brown get contracts and right now Chinn (unless he signs a reasonable one) and Horn will be the ones we replace.
  19. Yeah it really wasn’t that bad. We hung around and eventually the 3 turnovers (4 if you count failed 4th down conversion) with 17 points coming from them was too much to overcome. Our defense played much better than expected just ran out of gas at the end. Basically our rookie QB made a couple rookie mistakes and if he cleans that up (which we all know he can) we will be fine. I mean our staff addressed the media saying we may start off rough, but will look much better by season’s end. Now we have people writing off Young. Well ok if we are using game 1 as a sample size, AR is injury prone, and Stroud can’t score at this level. I guess they all are busts?
  20. I try to watch every game unless we have something planned with the family. I get excited when they play well and frustrated when they don’t. However through conditioning of many letdowns I can pretty much flip a switch and be content if they play bad right after the game.
  21. Yeah I’m seeing 2 sacks and those cane at the end whenever they would blitz knowing he had to pass one was an overloaded blitz.
  22. But Cam 2.0 looked better in his loss before he got hurt?!?!?!??? Seriously though, great post. It’s a tough game for rookie QBs, especially when they start off on the road. Young looked good one series and bad another. Seems to be about right for a rookie’s first start.
