This is why Bryce Young undoubtedly is QB1
ForJimmy replied to Ivory Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/147430-the-quarterback-position-does-size-matter.amp.html Has nothing to do with injuries but if you are into stats, the smaller guys perform worse. I found it some west interesting, but it’s a small basic study… -
We have had one HELL of a FA period. Roster is looking pretty solid. Just need to add Stroud/Young and let the rest of the draft come to us!

Jason LaCanfora: Dave Tepper loves Bryce Young

Herbert was the number 2 QB drafted in the top 10. Pitts was a TE drafted in the top 10 (and I’m not sure they make that same pick in a redraft), and Parsons was the top LB in his draft by a mile.

Harrington, Akili Smith, and Mariotta sure didn’t stop LAC from taking Herbert early. Jamarcus Russell and Matt Flynn didn’t keep the Bengals away from Burrow. Always scout the player. -
Right. You getting all worked up man. Calling out elite picks is nothing special. Trolling the board for Strong and Corral is going to come back to bite you. It’s just part of it.
-
You called the top LB, TE, and number 2 QB of those drafts! Damn man my bad you are legit…
-
Cool story. Every scout/analyst in the league knows Young is a top 10 talent, but can also acknowledge the risk. Keep pulling for Strong/Corral/Trask because it’s working out so well. Your boy Baker is about to take Trask’s job on a backup’s salary btw.

Man they are like complete opposites…. Stats don’t always equal style of play. Pickett was getting close to Burrow level stats, but they are completely different. However if you are wanting to use stats pull up those rushing stats. Fields is an elite athlete with a cannon for an arm that uses his legs to run around/over defenders as well. Stroud is a pocket precision passer who used Brees to model how to play the position. He has been compared to Goff and Burrow by our staff. You need to actually watch these guys play and not just read off stats. Might as well compare Young to Mac Jones while you are at it. -
I was telling him to stop spamming Young hype like you did with Strong, Corral, Levis, and now Stroud. I prefer Stroud but can acknowledge both are solid choices.
-
He is trying to get the high score and all these QB prospects keep interrupting him.
-
He is just playing video games on it.
-
Yeah I think people are confusing the pick 9 debate of AR or Levis at the time. Plus I'm sure they are making assumptions based on your user name.
-
@TheCasillasyou gonna start a Levis Pro Day thread?? Or should we just use this?
-
Yep it's similar to the Bears OL having a good overall PFF rating, but half of their starting OL was bottom of the league in PFF rating???

Agreed. Our staff should have the best insight of what each QB can be at the next level. It's a good thing the Huddle isn't making the pick and the professionals are. I am actually very confident in our staff this year so whoever they pick I will be all in. -

I think the concern for some is that it’s a flaw that can’t be corrected and could lead to a short (no pun intended) career. That can be a tough sell for the top overall pick. Stroud has several flaws, but the hope is that our new staff can correct them to a degree. Again I will be excited if we get Young and if he holds up he should be great! -

I don’t think it’s a death blow. I just think he puts him back down to Stroud’s level as a prospect. Which is still a great one! It’s simply a flaw that shouldn’t be completely ignored. -
The only issue I see with that is the whole offense that gets the ball out fast comment. It’s true that how smaller QBs like Brees protect themselves, but that takes away one of Young’s best attributes in his ability to extend plays. Stroud actually fits that style of offense better, but a QB with Young’s size should be playing that style in the NFL. It’s a back and forth conversation because it’s a strong argument for both players.

Young is smallish? He is going to be the smallest starting QB in the NFL. Look if a player is running around playing Mahomes style football taking hits while extending plays and is fine his first year but gets injured his second year it is more of a concern than a pocket passer getting injured his first year and playing through all his games his second. Call it nitpicking but that is what you should do with the possible top pick. This is the problem with a couple of these die hard Young people. They refuse to accept durability is a concern with his size. People were claiming he never got hurt, I said that’s not true and now it’s dragging out to this. Why do you think Young was the only QB not go throw at the combine after weighing over 200 pounds and a month later decided to throw but not weigh in. HE knows it’s a concern and wants to hide it to a degree. It’s why Young isn’t a clear top choice. He checks all the other boxes, but size/durability is a concern and even HE knows it. -
Looking at Success or Failure of top 10 to 12 QBs since 2000
ForJimmy replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think coaching staff can have a lot to do with it. Lawrence with Meyer vs Pederson. Some elite ones can win in spite of their staff (like Cam), but it definitely helps and we have a good one. Our team is also built for a rookie QB right now. I think several of them are capable of finding success in Carolina. -
It’s getting obsessive @rippadonnlevel spamming and nonsense. I tried showing him flaws in his logic by quoting himself back to him and he thought his own quote was stupid. So that’s where he is at now….
