Yes it can be fixed. Burrow tore his ACL and MCL his rookie year and looks fine. Watson tore his ACL and came back great. Hell TD tore his what 3 times? I understand the other issues, but he wasn’t going to start week one regardless IMO.

I guess the ACL injury doesn’t bother me if the staff likes him. ACL recovery has come a long way. The system UT runs is my biggest concern with him. I’ve seen several lobs up to wide open WRs where they slow down to adjust during UT games. I’m just saying the injury recovery isn’t as big of an issue as it seems. It just limits what teams can see from it pre-draft.

So when does AR get playing time in the NFL? Week 1? I know we are both ok taking him at 9 who probably isn’t playing right away either. The Chiefs didn’t play Mahomes right away, Rodgers didn’t start right away. I don’t think those teams regretted burning a first on either QB.

I’m just thinking if he can practice throwing with the team for training camp, maybe he can get some real game time midseason which isn’t bad for a rookie QB.

He tore it Nov 19th. So 9 months puts him in August. I wonder if he can throw without contact before then? It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

That's a fair question. We would need to have a high rating on all 3 similar to the Niners when they traded up for Lance. It's a double edged sword really because if we wait and see if our top guy drops and he does say another team like ATL gets interested in drafting that same pick at 3 and it turns into a very fast bidding war.

I could see the Saints drafting him with that first they got from Denver for Sean Payton.

I think we move up to 3 and land Stroud/Young/Levis. That probably saves us that 2025 1st.

Good point, but I think Newton was a much more polished passer coming out than AR. I could be wrong though, it's hard to tell with the system/talent around them.

True or you could pulls a Buffalo and just have him tough it out while running a simpler offense with designed QB runs.

Arm strength, core strength, speed, and potential (AR is 4 years younger with only one season as a starter). Hooker also played in a very QB friendly system at UT with a couple NFL WRs around him. In 2020 Hooker was 98/150 with 1339 yards 9 TDs and 5 INTs at VT in a more pro offense against ACC defenses. He did have 620 more rushing yards and 9 TDs while still being older than current AR. I'm not saying Hooker is bad, just SOME scouts are going to see AR as the next Josh Allen (potentially) with his size, speed, and arm strength. His ceiling is through the roof, but there is a definite high bust factor in there as well.

GM Fitt already said if there is one you like you trade up and get him. Call it "GM speak" if you want, but he is usually pretty straightforward in his interviews. It also makes sense. We have an OL and a defense with several talented young players. Oh I’m not directly it at any particular poster. The person talking about the FO was fine and had sone good points. My post was just a reference to this whole topic/discussion. I don’t see us saving pick 9 and signing Carr. That’s all.

It just seems like a waste of money to hire these QB whispers on your staff and then drop a ton of money to sign an established vet QB in his 30s? I guess we shall see. I just see us possibly signing a cheap vet like Brisset or even Darnold and drafting a QB. Using that QB rookie salary plus all of our free space next season (assuming we don't use it up) puts us in a great spot to build a solid team. Not to mention Reich issues having a vet QB signed every offseason with the Colts. Who knows at this point?

Do they have interest or not? I only see articles saying Carolina is "expected" to have interest. If a 37 million dollar (his expected salary) starting QB becomes available, and he is one you really like then you don't really drag your feet in meeting with him. If there is any interest in this point it seems minor, as Frank Reich and Fitt would be at least inquiring about a meeting. Bringing in Caldwell and McCown is a little telling where Reich is leaning with his QB decision and it's currently in the draft. This staff was assembled to help find and develop a young signal caller. Fitt has already said drafting your guy is the best way to do it and also stated if there is one you like you move up and draft him.
