In what strange parallel dimension is LB our biggest need
ForJimmy replied to Gapanthersfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have Wallace and Jewell next year? Unless you are talking about edge/olb. I’d agree that edge is a top need but that lines up for with 4-3 DEs to me. -
Stroud has the safest best with a high ceiling as well. AR was a swing for the fences gamble. Stroud was the clear choice after what we gave up for the pick. We couldn’t afford to miss like we did.

Jeremy Fowler: Panthers aren’t eager to trade Diontae Johnson

IF we can sign DJ for $10 million a year then I'm down. He is a good WR2 and gives us a weapon that doesn't need any developing. -
Stop the obsession with the QB position

They just drafted 6 QBs in the first last year. They are going to keep getting overdrafted in the near future. -

I’m good with trading back and I’m also good with BPA -

This is accurate but 1st round QBs have a higher chance of being good. Rodgers, Allen, Tua, Jackson, Burrow, Stroud, Lawrence, Mahomes, Herbert, (possibly Daniels), Goff, Love, Darnold, Baker, Murray, and Stafford were all 1st rounders. Which is 16 of the current starters and are decent QBs. That doesn't include Williams, Nix, Maye, Richardson and Penix who the jury is still out on. The problem is they will always be overdrafted, so you have to find a real diamond in the rough to get one later. Yeah a lot of these guys have switched from their original teams, but they are all talented QBs drafted in the first round. -
Are we now actively pulling for David Tepper to fail?
ForJimmy replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
The value of his investment is growing every year. Yeah he wants to win, but I don't think he is as miserable as everyone thinks he is about it. The best for us fans is for him to find something that works and get lucky with a GM/HC hire like the 49ers owner did. -
All of that plus the punt block.
-
I think we only get the comp based on how many FAs we sign. With out roster, I'd assume we sign enough FAs to not get a comp for any player we let walk.
-
I believe Tepper wanted Fields in the draft
-
Oh I agree he is still pretty raw, but you said he wasn’t the QB coach of either QB. I was just saying that was his job title when Geno signed with Seattle.
-
I believe he was Seattle’s QB Coach during Geno’s comeback year in 2022. He was the passing game coordinator the years prior. People are shying away from his ability to help QBs because he can’t help Bryce so quickly. Maybe Bryce just can’t be helped?

Howell isn’t a FA and Fields is. Howell would be a good one to look at if he was, but I’m game for signing Fields this offseason if the price is right.

You love some TMac! I think we do defense with our first, but I’d be good with TMac. I haven’t seen a WR his size move like that in a while.
-
He is 25 years old and I think he has had a different OC every year. I don’t think he has hit his ceiling yet.
-
I think he played for Buffalo later but couldn’t ever get back to form.
-
To be fair, KB struggled after his mom passed. He never really recovered. I feel bad for him…
-
He has 10 TDs to 1 INT on the year and is 4-2. If Russ can do better than that more power to him.
-
Right. Plus Fields has a lot more potential than 36 year old Dalton.
-
Also no I wouldn’t trade any draft picks for anyone. I’d do the opposite. If someone offers a decent pick for a player, they can have it. I’m not against signing Fields in the offseason without having to give up anything as he is a free agent. He can be a good bridge QB who still has potential.
-
lol I was thinking there is no way he is suggesting what I think. You got me on it. Good one!
-
Again we had to pass to open up the run. You can’t just do one without the other. The YPA for Chuba was in the low 3s through most of the first half. We started connecting on passes and the defense had to back up.

I guess it all about perspective. I feel like our 24 class looks decent so far. Wallace is setting records for rookie tackles, XL is looking better than I thought at this point and already has a couple TDs, Coker is actually showing ability. I'd assume Brooks will be a decent RB because that's a pretty safe position, but I know what assuming can do. The average draft class has 1 maybe 2 players get 2nd contracts. We already have several flashing some ability.
