I agree, but we still have cap space and a draft before this one is done. Regardless is should look better than last year at a minimum.
-
It's not a complete product yet. Let's see the final roster first, but even with Johnson, a high pick rookie plus a better OL should be night and day from last year. Still a bottom tier set, but I would expect a functional offense out of that group.

This whole debate is pointless as people have dug their feet in on their stances. Let's just see how Bryce plays this year with some better talent around him. If people want to see more of him or him in a competent offense, that seems more than fair. If people have already made up their mind of him not being the guy then nothing is going to change that unless he can prove them wrong by playing better this year. It would be nice to have a reasonable debate with it blowing up into some of this nonsense though...

Jewell replaces Luvu. Luvu pass rushes better but Jewell is better in coverage which is what Evero uses the position for the most. One could argue that’s a wash. Robinson at DT is a definite upgrade and lets Tuttle play a rotational role or slide to DE as he was an undersized DT. As of right now Wonnum is the Burns replacement. Obviously Burns is better which is why we still need Clowney and or a high draft pick for edge rushers. Shaq coming back is an immediate upgrade because he had guys off the streets playing LB. So IMO Shaq and Jewell are better than Luvu plus Hill or whatever FA he had playing that week. Robinson upgrades the DL at possibly 2 positions (letting Tuttle slide to DE as well). We have a drop off losing Burns but Wonnum is a decent starter. It really just depends on how high you view Burns. The biggest thing is seeing how all of these new pieces play together. That will tell the story, but I could see someone on thinking we could be better in the front 7 with one more move on paper at least. -
He wants another Dalton?

The good news is we gave up next to nothing for him as we were going to cut DJax regardless. -

Keep fighting the good fight @Carolina Panthers! -
Honestly this just looks like the lobby of whatever fancy resort they are at and Tepper saying hey while passing by. He leaves quickly when he sees Adam is talking to Pat McAfee. Sometimes the answer isn’t as complicated as people want it to be… You are correct though, Adam does communicate with Tepper and the Panthers. He also communicates with the 31 other teams. That’s kind of his job right?

You know this was at the owners meetings right?

Can we bring back @rippadonn for the draft also? -
It looks like we are trying to build up for the future. A one year rental on a 30 year old WR who can’t stay off IR isn’t worth overpaying in our situation. A cheap one year rental to help develop our QB? Sure? But that wasn’t the case.
-
We had a value on him and they outbid us. It’s not that big of a deal. I kind of like not overpaying for every player available as we are not in win now mode.

Milton will get overdrafted. Make a couple preseason highlights then overthrow a pass over the middle for a pick.

So far not many restructures or pushing the cap down the road either. Tillis could be the needed change.
-
Chase Young’s neck injury also kept us away apparently.
-
We did similar as the Commanders did with Sweat and both players are similar with Sweat being better against the run and Burns being slightly better at rushing the passer.

I think Brown is the anchor of the defense so yes he is worth it. Also the cap is increasing by a good bit so $20 million next year doesn't hurt as bad as $20 million in previous. Hell we had 10 QBs making over $40 million with some clearing $50. The Hunt contract is more like a 3 year $63 million contract looking at the guarantees and buyout potential. We did overpay but we currently have to in order to attract top FAs and I believe out staff wants an OL THIS year so they can properly evaluate Bryce. We can also afford to overpay for some of these positions because we don't have an expensive QB eating up a chunk of the cap. So far Tillis is keeping it clean and not pushing much cap down the road with restructures. We still need a center (probably) and another weapon or two to put a functional offense on the field and make some real evaluations.

I’d probably take Mitchell or Coleman. Whoever falls. It would be very tempting to trade for Mitchell but we need our picks. I’d be more tempted to trade back and acquire more picks than trading up.
