Signing Sam to a cheap backup QB contract while drafting a QB in the draft to be our future is perfectly acceptable. Signing Sam for more money and rolling with him and Corral next year is one hell of a gamble at the most important positions in sports. It's also one gamble that has already burned us pretty badly in very recent history....
-
Teddy is making 6.5 (average annual salary) as a backup, Keenum is making 6 (3 year 18 million), Taylor and Rudolph are just over 5. So you basically want to pay him higher end backup money. I am ok with that if he is the vet QB we are wanting to roll with. I'm not sure he takes that contract if he "takes us to the playoffs." That also doesn't stop us from drafting a QB to compete with Corral for our future.

You never answered @mav1234on these "drops" from last game??
-
What kind of contract are you willing to give Darnold based on his play this year?
-
Sam is a back up, possibly bridge game manager on certain teams/offenses. PJ probably shouldn't be in the league except as a 3rd/emergency QB. That's just my opinion on the matter.
-
Fans overrate. It's what we do. It's why half of this board wants Darnold running the offense next year and the other half wants him out of the league. The correct answer is usually some where in the middle.
-
It’s a direct reflection of the Panther’s current staff not knowing how to properly use the talent we already have. That makes it very Panther related IMO.
-
I agree. It really depends on which HC or OC we end up with. The power running game behind our OL would be a rookie/raw QBs best friend. Hell it's making Darnold look serviceable. I think Lance would have been ok if he could just stay healthy. Shanahan runs a run first offense and loves to lean on his defense allowing his QBs to primarily make the "safe" throws. With the right OC/HC Richardson in the first and Kincaid with one of our 2nds could be a nice start. The first/main thing we need to do is extend Bozeman. Rookie QB or not he has shown to be crucial to our offense.

A little play action does wonders when you are averaging 15 and 10 yards a carry.
-
Yeah it makes sense for these mid-tier guys to stay and collect NIL money as long as they can. Ward should also stay this year. He has some tools that could move him up the draft board if he has a solid year next year. On a side note if Wilks is our guy (and he is looking like he might be) look out for Richardson or Levis. Remember Wilks wanted the Cards to trade up for Allen and not doing so was one of his biggest complaints. I’m assuming he likes the big arm, raw talent guys based on that. Just a thought…

LMAO at JOSH NORMAN getting the CAM NEWTON treatment!!

It was a FA signing on Week 15. What exactly were you expecting? -Never mind, forgot this was a troll account… -
He is an improvement over Rhule, but 19th considering the weak defenses we have played isn’t that good…
-
Watching Zach Wilson play reminds me EXACTLY of Corral

Ouch… -
It happened against the Steelers. We just still force the run and lose the game.
-
Yeah I think we were 28th in offensive yards per game on the season, but sure let one game against the Lion’s defense decide his future….

https://ramblinfan.com/2022/11/01/la-rams-relationship-with-rb-cam-akers-appears-unsalvageable/amp/ Lol no one even made an offer for him. Akers has been a bit of a bust for them and they won’t even commit at him being their starter or getting more than 10 carries a game. Yeah he is great…
-
Yeah if he is there in the 3rd we better run our pick to the stage.
-
Akers is terrible. They were trying to pawn him off with all those picks and we still declined. Just check out his stats. Our running backs are clearly better than their running backs. Higbee is a 500 yard 5 TD TE on a good season and that’s with all that talent around him from previous years. I get our TEs suck, but Higbee is nothing special (he is having a career high game tonight though). Their OL is garbage and DJ is the only great WR on either roster currently. Rams don’t have more talent than us. If you want to try to argue they do it has to be very minimal at best…
-
The LARs?? Nah they have a worse OL and not many weapons with Cupp on IR…
-
Nah the solid teams are handling us pretty easily. Seahawks was a solid win, but they have come back down to reality a bit… Lions might actually be our best win?
-
I mean we only have 2 games left in the season, no need to risk any further damage. Even if we make the playoffs, we are in no shape to compete against the NFL’s top teams yet.

So you think McAdoo has developed Sam into a starter? Are you willing to pay Sam starter money for this type of play and keep McAdoo as the OC? I think it’s more Wilks than McAdoo wanting to run the ball to eat clock, and try to lean on his defense since that’s his background. If our running game dominates like it does against bad defenses then our offense looks great. Hell over halfway through that game Foreman was averaging 10 plus yards a carry and Hubbard was at 15. Those are unreal numbers. The counter is when we play good defenses that can contain our running game like the Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers our offense crumbles. The best comparison I saw was Tannehill on the Titans. As long as they have a lead and Henry is rolling he looks solid. If Henry struggles or they get behind, Tannehill isn’t able to elevate their passing game. Dalton is kind of similar. They can look the part when they are asked to do very little. It’s a decent bridge or backup QB option, but I want something better or with higher potential on our roster
