Brian Baldinger breaks down the Panthers' offensive tackles
ForJimmy replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's so early for this stuff. I remember early reports of Chase dropping balls and people were wondering about him having the off year in 2020. -
So maybe McAdoo was needing to get one final look at Darnold to confirm he is what we all know. I could see him getting cut and PJ being the backup until Corral is ready. Not saying I agree with it, but I am trying to follow the logic...
-
I’m sure we can eat 99% of his contract and get like a future 7th for him.
-
It’s already been announced and it’s no surprise. Hint- it’s not the one that threw 3 INTs in the last practice and never had a winning season…
-
Sounds like McAdoo was all about it also…
-
Yeah Brees was great in Peyton’s system. It was a perfect match. I’m not sure how good he would be on another team.
-
They have to be pretty big favorites with him playing right?
-
There is (pure speculation) he might not want to play anymore. If he doesn’t the division would be wide open right?
-
Yep. I hope Tepper learned from this, but I doubt it….
-
He is always first on the field….

I’m looking for to Icky pancaking some people and hopefully Mays gets some looks at center. Hopefully Barno has another good game.

Joe Person: Panthers expected to name Baker Mayfield Week 1 starter.

3 more wins would make a 60% increase in win total. I love when people say Baker is only slightly better than Darnold then complain he is going to ruin our draft position.. No one thinks we are a Super Bowl threat or that Baker will become the next Tom Brady. Sneaking into the playoffs as a wildcard would be the absolute ceiling IMO. I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m excited about even average QB play and hopefully watching a more competitive team than last year. Our secondary looks great, QB and OL have been significantly upgraded. After watching that sad excuse of an offense last year, I’ll take an average one this year. -

Makes you wonder if we should cut PJ and Sam. A lot of teams are only carrying two QBs and we currently have 4 (yeah I know it's early). I have a feeling we are rolling with 3 (Baker, Sam, Matt), but why is PJ still on our roster getting playing time? Are other teams currently rolling 4 deep? -

Campen is in charge of developing Icky. I trust he will have him as ready as he can be to start the season. Yeah there will be growing pains as expected. -

I would give Baker another series and then Darnold the rest of the half followed by Corral in the second half, but what do I know. PJ should be cut because there is no path for him to make this roster without Darnold getting cut. Also it would be nice if Icky got some valuable reps and Mays got some at center. -

Gotcha, yeah the QB situation is definitely a weird one. Honestly the most pointless thing is PJ being on this roster and taking any reps from other QBs. The "competition" between Sam and Baker was going to decided QB 1 vs QB 2 and we can't carry 4 QBs successfully or place our 3rd round rookie on the practice squad. Basically no matter what Corral is going to be the QB3 at worst. -

The first sentence may have been bold, but I get what he is saying. Most of these rookies aren't ready to lead a franchise to a winning season yet with the exception of maybe Pickett. You along with many of these analysts have stated none of them are ready and shouldn't be drafted in the first round (and they weren't outside of Pickett). It's Baker's team (this year) and he is new to the roster so he needs all of the reps with the 1s he can get. Corral needs to make progress with the 3s/4s before he jumps up to the 1s. We definitely need to ditch PJ if Sam is going to be our backup and let Corral get his reps in the meantime. -

The old Rivera would never play rookies over vets, glad to see he is more open minded now. Also Howell has looked a lot better than Corral so it does make sense. Corral just needs a little more time. I do look for PJ to get released soon so Corral can at least get some reps with the 3s. -

Yeah if I was hired by a company and did a terrible job and they let me stay for another year and make 18 million, I was be pretty chill also.... -
Wow, no poo…. Kind of shows you how “serious” the NFL is taking this.

*Darnold with start week 2. They will rotate each week until Rhule is ready to name a permanent starter.
