  1. In case you missed the notice, Charlotte landed a major league soccer team. That requires more than a college stadium or a stadium that's been around since 1936 (even if it has been renovated). That's just silliness on your part. Can you site the instance in which Tepper has meddled in personal decisions or are you just under the (incorrect) assumption that he has. Just admit that you know nothing in fact and that you are assuming the worst. Maybe take a knee on this one and wait a little longer before making a snap decision, huh?
  2. We have no indication that Saleh is going to be a better coach than Rhule. They are likely both good coaches. As far as no soccer in the stadium, does that mean you are in favor of raising taxes to have a soccer-only stadium built? Personally, I think it's a smart use of existing facilities. Good on Charlotte for getting a major soccer franchise. We'll see if a stadium ends up in SC. I highly doubt it will, although the idea of it will serve as proper leverage for future negotiations. So, what specifically has Tepper done that you can't stand? Despite what you have indicated, he has not been personally involved in personnel decisions. Sure, he's said he'd like a franchise QB and would go all out for one, but he's letting Fit and Rhule determine how that takes place.
  3. That's the entire reasoning behind a contingent trade. If Watson does go south and the Panthers get nothing out of him, the Texans would still get a couple of picks out of it. The upside for the Texans is getting rid of a headache and coming away with...something. If Watson is able to settle out of court (and avoid serious suspensions), then the picks upgrade to first rounders and the Texans are reasonably compensated for not having to continue hosting the circus.
  4. The trade would have to include conditional picks, such as two 3rd round picks that could become first rounders if Watson is on the roster for X% of games. The problem is, there is a good chance that Watson is either imprisoned or suspended or both. If/when that happens, what's Plan B?
  5. Moton gets paid. The logic is pretty simple. Keep him, develop Christensen and expect at least one of the young linemen to develop into a solid starter. That gives you a young core of OLine from which to build. Don't skimp on the OLine picks over the next couple of years and a perceived weakness develops into a strength. Lose Moton and the Panthers are back to bailing wire and duct tape for the foreseeable future. The only fly in the ointment is Moton and his desire to stay in Carolina. I don't believe the contract delay has all been on Carolina's side.
  6. It's cute you cut-n-paste one comment from the post and ignore the message of the post. Leadership was evident with Cam, Olsen, Luke and TD - you didn't have to go looking for it. Show me how CMC is exhibiting obvious leadership with this team. He's a great player, no doubt, but he hasn't established himself as a team leader, yet. Neither has anyone else on the offensive side of the ball. It's part of the reason the team lost a lot of close games last year.
  7. I'm going to go a different route. I think leadership is the trait that is sorely lacking on this team. Within the last couple of years, we've seen the likes of TD, Luke, Olsen and Cam leave the team. This isn't about discussing the merits of those departures, but they did take with them the leadership of the team. Someone needs to step up and right soon. On defense, that *might* be Chinn and/or Brown. I don't know enough about them to say they have it in them or don't. Don't come @me with Shaq being a leader - his play isn't strong enough to support that argument. The glaring hole is the offense. Darnold hasn't been around long enough to be a leader and I'd question his decision making process. CMC could be, but I don't think he really wants to be. So where is the leadership going to come from? Who is going to be the player to call others out or motivate the others when they absolutely have to make a play? We were spoiled with good leaders before. We aren't now.
  8. I grew up not far from Cincy when the Big Red Machine was in full swing. Our school system would take regular field trips to attend games there. It was a huge deal. I have a set of four baseballs signed by Morgan, Rose, Perez and Bench. Having said that, my flavor for baseball has waned considerably over the years as the Reds have had some crappy ass ownership. My days of taking days off to watch opening day ended many years ago. Living in Raleigh, it would be interesting to have a team here. I didn't follow hockey before the Canes came to town, but have been an avid fan for years now. Maybe having a team nearby would spark that interest again, but there will never be another team for me like the Reds in the 70's.
  9. Isn't that THE answer to life, the universe and everything? So, what you're saying is, the answer really is...The Panthers.
  10. Or they don't like what they see. I'm not hearing glowing remarks about any of the ones drafted right now. "Needs work" "Will have to be coached up" "Will struggle early"
  11. The way things are falling, I'm looking OT and WR for the next two picks. Wouldn't mind Cosmi and Dyami Brown.
  12. Bengals must not have liked Jenkins all that much.
  13. Seems like many people believe the Panthers are just one or two picks away from the Superb Owl, so they are looking at positions of need instead of best player. I don't think the Superb Owl is in the mix next year, but could be in two or three years. Who are we going to draft TODAY who we expect to be part of the team that brings home the hardware? So yeah, taking a LT today is simply a placeholder until we find a long-term answer, but I'm looking for that cornerstone.
  14. I think OLine is where we go 2nd round, but don't sleep on the idea of Kellen Mond...
  15. I like the pick, but not the place in the draft where he was picked, so B+. I'm sure, had we traded down, Dallas would have taken him at 10, so they did what they had to do, but I would have loved to have seen a trade-down and more picks Day2/Day3.
  16. Jenkins, Cosmi or Eichenberg, please. But some nagging feeling tells me to watch for the possibility of Kellen Mond...
  17. The sucky part is, IF this happens with SF (and I don't see how, logistically/cap-wise), that'd put GB at the #3 spot in the draft. GB has already invested a 1st on Jordan Love, so I doubt they go QB at #3, which means position player. This *could* be bad news for the Panthers and their hope for Sewell/Slater/Horn Side note: Rumor has it, Rodgers is complaining about the lack of WR help. It'd be funny if the Packers used the #3 pick on Chase...considering Rodgers is then gone.
  18. Thinking of the Patriots and trading up? They've done it TWICE in the first round since 2003, with the most recent trade happening in 2012. Neither time did they trade into the top-10. Don't see it happening tonight, either.
  19. I can think of a QB that came out years ago who wasn't fast and didn't have the strongest arm, but his footwork was really good, he was incredibly smart and could throw the ball with pinpoint accuracy. Is that how you see Jones?
