I'm liking Cox, Michael Carter, and Gillespie here with our next pic.

What did we actually gain with the trading down
Proudiddy replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, in last night's presser, Rhule And Fitt said according to their guys (scouts?) a 3rd this year is the equivalent to a 2nd next year, and Rhule said when they viewed it that way, they essentially paid off the Darnold trade already. I thought that was fascinating.- 80 replies

Well, it wasn't my comp lol. Still, maybe he was referring to frame and measurables/potential? Tremble's athleticism is mentioned all through his scouting report.
-
Which is funny, bc I watched the post-rounds presser and when they asked Fitterer about what traits the players we picked so far shared, he said stuff like leadership, loves the game, has an edge, great teammate, great work ethic, etc. And then Rhule followed him up immediately and said athleticism. And I think he said something like, when we know they have transferable athletic traits that carry over from college to the pros, it's easier to develop their football skills. So, yeah, it's clearly something we are targeting and we prioritize. From the metrics people have shared showing how athletic our guys are compared to the rest of the prospects, even compared to previous drafts, let alone the current one, to Rhule actually stating it, it's clear we have stepped into a new era... and I love it. I know Rhule wanted advanced analytics at the forefront, as did Tepper, and it seems Fitt was the perfect fit (pun intended) to punctuate the direction in which we were going. Seattle was doing this stuff for years ahead of many other organizations and it's how they found guys like Kam Chancellor and Sherman in the later rounds and turned them to all-pros.

Ahh yes, Gettlemagic. And so commenced the post-Superbowl destruction of a potential dynasty thanks to that dumbass draft and then letting Norman walk for nothing. Smh, what a dickhead.

Went back and watched NFLN's coverage of our picks to see their breakdown of them and it was all love, but the most interesting take to me? Daniel Jeremiah, who I really like and respect, said Tremble reminds him a lot of George Kittle when he was coming out of college. If he can become THAT or even close? A reliable pass catcher, combined with his athleticism and nasty streak... My God. Edit: sorry for the initial typos that I hopefully corrected, my kids are up and blasting Gangam Style (with dance party) from Alexa and I can't hear my own thoughts.

Good. Even though I hate/hated the Saints, I always had a soft spot for Joe as he is a Fayetteville (my hometown) legend. Nice to see things come full circle and he is back in NC via his son. Happy to have them both here. Jaycee is gonna be a beast. Also, someone let Joe know, if he didn't realize how the media feels about us, check out when they go to extended commercial breaks during the draft. P.S. - Aaron Rodgers is a whiny, attention whore, just like his predecessor, and is following his exact same late-career-crisis blueprint.
-
Well, you can hit the hay apparently. I think we traded all the way into the 4th, so we're done for the night.
-
Welp, there went Long. Jabril Cox it is.
-
Yup, that's what I'm thinking too.

Anyone think Hunter Long would be a good pick with our next selection here?

Round 2 - Carolina Panthers select LSU WR Terrace Marshall
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ok, now... i'm really starting to like Fitterer. I panicked a bit bc I flashed back to Hurney and Gettleman days, but they NEVER did this. We got a first round level WR this late, and a guy at 6'3" with 4.3 speed and a huge catch radius. AND he played and excelled under our current OC. That is an incredible get and although it wasn't a need, this value may be the best of the draft. Just incredible. -
Round 3(a) - Carolina Panthers Select BYU OT Brady Christensen
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Great value. But, did we trade back up to take him? ESPN radio said we traded with the Eagles to get ot his pick? -
Do they think we're a good enough team that a player can't help us at these picks? Smh...

Look the first one i didnt like. Now they're really starting to piss me off.

Love Jaycee Horn and he was third on my board, but...
Proudiddy replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
No doubt, they are playing an extremely high-stakes game at the most pivotal position league-wide. You can't afford to get it wrong. So, I hope they're right... but, passing on a guy with a rocket arm, 4.4. 40, and a resume that includes huge games against top-level programs for a guy with a "good" arm and ok measurables just doesn't sit well with me. But again, I hope they're right. -

Because I'm hoping for the best but not a believer at all in Darnold, I still am holding out hope that maybe Howell slides a bit because of his size and we get a shot at him next draft. -

Yeah, and thats a great angle I hadn't thought about of it's true. I wonder if we really liked Lance and that was who they would consider of he had fell, or as you said, they weren't interested in a QB at all. -

Well, if others don't know what you do, maybe you should share it instead of getting into condescending mudslinging and basement-dwelling insults. While Scot just told me what Zack shared - who has always been as plugged in as anyone we've had here - I was not wrong in connecting the dots that were shown to us publicly. I can't dispute or deny what Zack heard, but I have to maintain that publicly, Rhule and Brady went above and beyond to let it be known Teddy was "their" guy. So, now that I know Marty had more of a hand in it than I realized, it doesn't completely absolve them from shared responsibility in it. As Scot offered in his above reply to me, it's fair to assume they had a big hand in it, but Marty apparently was the driving force in making it happen. And also, now that I know that tidbit, he was a much bigger idiot than even I gave him credit for. -
PFF grades the Horn pick , and they are idiots
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
What a fuging idiot. Does he know many coaches play schemes based off the personnel they have available, which can change from year to year? My God, what an idiot. Wow. Just wow. -

Who, Verge? I 100% believe her, but she is telling us what she's heard. It can't be confirmed. Whereas, we heard directly from Rhule and Brady over and over again, that Teddy was their guy and their decision. So, we know that for a fact. Now, I agree on the contract part, but if they said that's their guy and thats who they want, then I assume Tepper would've signed off on whatever it took to sign him. From everything Tepper, Rhule, and Brady said last offseason through the season, it sounds like they were calling the shots. I dont think its coincidental we heard less and less from Hurney after Rivera was fired. There was also the rumors that Tepper was ready to move on from Cam because he was seen as a holdover from Hurney/Rivera/JR's regime and he wanted his own guy to start fresh with (combined with the injury history, obviously). That's what I'm going off of... what we saw and heard from the team. -

Proudiddy replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've never seen it confirmed that it was Hurney's move. What i have heard and asked repeatedly was Rhule and Brady telling every play-by-play guy game in and game out last season that Brady has an existing relationship with Teddy and said if he got the chance to be an OC in the NFL that Teddy was the guy he wanted as his QB. Since it didn't pan out and Hurney was let go, all of a sudden it's become some sort of revisionist fact that it was all Hurney's doing and I haven't heard any official account confirm that. I have no narrative. You have the wrong guy. I want facts. I want to know for certain who did what and why, and if I know that, I can't dispute it. I dont give a poo about Hurney, and I've said numerous times that Rhule appears to be a great talent evaluator and developer as a coach, with the one caveat being, if Teddy was his guy and his decision, then evaluation of QBs appears to be a problem. -

I know it has become en vogue to attribute that move to Hurney, probably because it makes it more palatable now that he's gone, and although we've never gotten a completely clear picture on that, last season Rhule and Brady went out of their way to tell anyone that would listen that Teddy was their guy who they targeted and brought in. So, despite the FO changes, I am holding the coaching staff responsible for that. TBH, in hindsight, I think Hurney had very little influence on the roster after Rhule was hired. -
Hey Saints. Sorry we took the player you wanted.

I'm not entirely sure, but I know he's got it and it's been verified.
