Saw a post somewhere earlier that said what the Bears gave up for Khalil Mack would be a fair comp as to what to expect it would take to get Parsons. But Parsons is actually a year younger than Mack was at that point, and also, I believe Mack was named an all-pro at two different positions that prior year, iirc… but I think Parsons is as equally versatile. we should definitely see what it would cost, at minimum.

I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell. Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid. I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either. I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went. I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year. Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one. It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.” I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is. I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.

Nice turnaround for Kon. I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL. Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him. He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad. I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league. Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference. Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense. This was such a breath of fresh air. And look at us! We finally are champions!

Surprise! Kon looked really good in the 3rd. Some moments of hope there.

I can’t bring myself to ever watch it again. It just hurts too bad. I feel like it would be like getting assaulted in a dark alley and robbed, but when you walked down that alley it was bright, broad daylight, plenty of people around, and a nice part of town - but it was actually more like a movie set, and then they pull all the fake poo away and millions of people watched it happen and enjoyed it. Then after all of that, going back and watching it happen to you again. And again, and again, and again. I just can’t. that game and the 2016 opener made me question whether I even wanted to watch NFL games at all anymore.

Just objectively speaking, I don’t know how Kon was projected Top 5. Historically, those are picks either of the guaranteed franchise player or high-boom/high-bust potential ilk. Nothing about Kon is high-ceiling. As carpan said, looking at him, he fits the spot-up shooter backup mold. That just boggles my mind that he got boosted up to Top 5. I don’t see the value at all. He must have a hell of an agent.
-
Dk how accurate it is, but st the beginning of the game, they showed our depth chart and had him as the starter.
-
Ngl, I did NOT know Filipowski was this athletic.
-
Again, I really like McNeely so far. And tbh, I didn’t watch much of us last year, so I didn’t see Simpson, but he is fuging legit.
-
It’s not so much the pick, although admittedly I didn’t like it - but, it’s more the history of our franchise. I was salty about getting screwed in the lottery, and then it feels like it was a pick we just settled for. But, just like with the Panthers’ picks, even if I don’t like it, I’m still gonna pull for them because our success depends on it. But im also going to point out the good and the bad.

Nice. last I heard them say he was 0-5 and then jumped in the air to shoot and threw a turnover when it was contested. Everything I said is what he has done so far. Not saying it’s the end all, be all, but he objectively doesn’t look good.
-
Didn’t say that at all. But he objectively doesn’t look good. Some guys adjustment to SL the first few games takes a lot longer than others. I remember Trae Young looked like complete ass for almost the entirety of it…. It Kon already doesn’t have great tools. If you’re watching, they’re even trying to run plays for him and he just can’t get open. also, Salaun may not have looked refined, because he wasn’t, but physically you could put him out there and know he could play. Kon is not very athletic and doesn’t have a great frame - both of which Salaun already had, Salaun just needed to develop the fundamentals and refine his raw ability. Kon is relying mostly on his fundamentals.
-
Good news is, McNeely, Calkbrenner and James all look solid. Saulune (sp?) from last year has been really solid as well. but Kon just looks like ass.
-
Struggling to get open, currently 3 mins to go in the 3rd and he is 0 for in FGs, can’t create space with the ball or off the ball, forcing shots, and is getting cooked on defense. file that under never saw this coming.
-
I really thought we were gonna get Ayton. That center position is vomit-worthy right now. The Williams and Nurkic trades make zero sense without some big move to follow.
-
Damn, that’s legit. Last I saw, we were letting him test FA after acquiring Sexton. I didn’t think they were even gonna attempt to bring him back. Love that as long as he can keep his back in good shape. I have degenerative discs, so it can be a task…. Love the move though. and although I joke about the lighter complexion of our recent pickups, the I’m legit kind of excited about the UConn kid.

That 2 guard position whiter than white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm.

Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again
TylerDurden replied to chknwing's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I brought it up elsewhere, but even the year we took SGA, which was the player I wanted that year (fwiw, I hated the Bridges pick), we took SGA then traded him for Bridges, who was taken a pick after ours. Like why tf should anyone do that? If we wanted Bridges, we could’ve just taken him without pick. And all we netted was a 2nd round pick and a solid role player who beats women in his spare time. But outside of player for player, all we gained was a 2nd rounder. And don’t feel like going back to look, but look how many picks we traded over the years for nothing or cash considerations. Remember when we drafted Duren and then traded him for literally fuging nothing? These trades are too many to count. -
But tbh, even if we took Ace, he would force his way out or be injured all the time or immediately leave when his contract was up after half-assing here then go on to be an all-star elsewhere. I see all these people now saying we need to trade LaMelo, but we’ve seen this movie before. He can’t stay healthy - then we trade him and he lives up to all of his potential while we poo the bed with whatever assets we got back for him and end up with nothing. It’s the Hornets and Panthers way.

Hornets FO: All your whites are now belong to us.

You don’t have to be convinced of a fact. I think maybe it’s just a form of passive income for the owners and they get some tax write offs, then the money just makes itself… i think they are in complete agreement and are complicit in facilitating talent to other teams as the league office or franchise hierarchy dictates. It’s clear we haven’t been trying to win for a long time.
-
fugin gross, but expected. I genuinely hate everything about this pick. We can throw around all these intangible adjectives that don’t mean poo, but if you can’t fuging move with athletes in the pros, you aren’t gonna cut it. Shooter or not.
-
The least exciting pick possible. Color me surprised. Really stoked for the second coming of Bryce Drew.

I had started typing my post hours ago and didn’t finish it and just came back to finish it, posted it, then saw yours and saw we were pretty much saying the same thing - even the games that stick out to us most. I don’t think a lot of people remember that SF playoff game, but I felt like I had just got mugged in broad daylight. I remember them calling Mitchell for unnecessary roughness, and then I remember watching Boldin take a super late cheap shot, dead in front of the ref and then showing him watching the whole thing in replay… the refs let them have a fuging field day and didn’t do jack poo, but if we so much as breathed the wrong way it was fuging 15 yards. Each team playing under two completely different sets of rules. poo hurt. I was enraged. I’ve never went back to watch either that game or SB50 and never will. fuging robbery.
