Should the Carolina Panthers extend Diontae Johnson?
PNW_PantherMan replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Obviously not all trades end up being equal, but the Steelers were willing to part with this guy for an expiring Donte Jackson. I think its important to keep that in mind. -

And if we're in the opposite situation, we're not committed to paying him if he's this season's DJ Chark. -

If he plays great this year then just pay him after that. The odds that an expiring contract we got for Donte Jackson is going to be worth extending is pretty low. He could pop off but it’s just the reality of the situation. -
Falcons disciplined for tampering

People actually thought Atlanta would get the death penalty for this -
Darnold aside, Tepper never should have given Wilks the interim job if he wasn't going to have a real shot at getting the position. The easy move was to wait and let Rhule lose the rest of the games. Didn't need to fire him and trade CMC to try and force that outcome. We all saw how that worked out.

I already do root for him. I root for DJ Moore too. I don't hold weird grudges against players that gave their all for our team and ended up getting dealt elsewhere. But you do you.

It blows my mind anyone could call him soft. Guy would have every other color on the field on his jersey after every game. Looked like he went to war every week for a team that pretty much stunk every year he was here.

This is a dumb take man. You just don’t like him. He had injury issues for 2 of 5.5 seasons here. Other than that he hasn’t missed a game. He was an absolute workhorse and he would have come back in those seasons if we weren’t completely out of contention. odds are he will get hurt again this year being on the cover. You’re just a hater.

Panthers signing UFL all-pro WR

Makes sense for the best players in the minor league to get a crack at the worst roster in the NFL. -
Albert Breer talks about Dave Canales
PNW_PantherMan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think that's because you really only need 3-5 high end players to build around. You get any more than that, and you're going to have to start letting guys leave. Most NFL rosters are filled out with guys that are replacement level or slightly above. -
I don't disagree with any of that. I just don't think the Super Bowl teams are going to be changing their strategy to spending the big bucks on the WR position. They will continue to draft guys and fill with mid level free agent talent. I don't really have any issue with the Vikings paying Jefferson that much. Its not a bad formula for a rookie QB. It's just not a proven formula for winning a championship. DJ Moore isn't in the same category. I'm talking about handing out record breaking deals.

I felt good after watching the one last year... and the year before that.

Best recent example of a WR carrying a team to a SB is Cooper Kupp. Other than that, most of the Super Bowl winners aren't shelling out record breaking contracts to WRs. Chiefs had an embarrassment of riches, but prioritized certain players to keep the SBs coming. Tyreek Hill is an absolute game changer, but its not enough to drag Tua over the hump.

The correct opinion

I think average is underselling him by a significant amount. He’s a good coach who was elevated to great coach with a great QB. No coach can win without a good QB. The Saints post Brees were a lot better with Payton than they are now. Russell Wilson looked better with Payton than he did the season before. He’s just washed. Bo Nix definitely has an edge because he will have a good coach. It’s hard to say if he just lit up the PAC 12 but people said similar things about Burrow leaving Ohio state and having a one year wonder season. I will say that even though his stats were spectacular last year. They were also good the year prior. Oregon threw the ball a ton last year. He had more completions than he had attempts in most other seasons.

I’m not saying Bryce shouldn’t be last. But the hype on Will Levis is getting out of hand. He has the frame and a big arm, but he had 8 TDs in 9 games, where 4 of those came in 1 game. He’s still got to put it together.

Kicker is the one position we consistently get right. If we could find every other position like we find kickers, we'd have a dynasty.
