I agree Tua has been better than Bryce. But when you combine the head injuries and the fact that he has alienated 2 separate coaches? I'm out.

Bryce Young - High Ankle Sprain, out minimum 1 week

We are evaluating Canales as a play caller as well. You can't really learn anything if Hendon Hooker is out there throwing games. He is not an NFL QB. -
Because there's no reason to completely discard the other 10 games we have left. Even if we aren't winning anything, we can build on something for next year. We won't be able to do that with Hendon Hooker after Dalton gets KO'd in 1-2 weeks.

If he is the answer then what was the question? -
We're mediocre because of the cast around the QB. Not because of the QB. That's why.

I don't think it's about passing 40-50 times a game. I think it's about the times we do pass, we are threatening the whole field. -

I don't think there's much wind left in anyone's sails at this point. If you don't get to play in a functional grown up passing offense, it's probably going to suck to play receiver. I don't think morale is going to be as big of an issue if guys are catching shots downfield and scoring. Even if we lose because our journeyman QB is terrible about throwing picks downfield. -

Panthers have the 3rd leading rusher in NFL
PNW_PantherMan replied to Pantherxtreme's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I feel like he's more limited in a committee style system because of this. If you think about it, the tandems are supposed to cover each other's weaknesses. You get two different kinds of specialist with opposing weaknesses, and they cover each other. You get a guy who's a jack of all trades, master of none. He's just kind of an underwhelming rotational guy (based on contract) once you get some other talent at RB rotating in. -
His play deteriorated every week until that happened though. The game logs tell the same story I remember watching. He was ass. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DaltAn00/gamelog/2024/

Yeah I agree. If he was average, Bryce would have never made it back on the field.

Quick! Cut the tape so we can save face and roll him out there again next year. -
I still don't understand how this is any different than last season. Here we go again I guess.

Well Chuba is interesting because he's kind of just a jack of all trades. He's not really a power back. He's not really a speed back. He's not really a receiving back. He sort of does it all at an acceptable level. Rico is a true power back. -
I still say drafting Fields was the play even though he sucks. It would have cost much less and we wouldn't be as staggered as we are now with the timing of Bryce's contract. You add in the coach inheriting this problem. It's just compounded itself multiple times over. We should have just bit the bullet and taken the easy L.

TBD on if we have the GM or HC now. I’m pretty doubtful on HC but I have to give Dan some props for this past offseason. It wasn’t perfect but the supporting cast is definitely improved. The early draft picks look much better. Jury’s still out.

If Dalton makes it through the season without finishing on IR it would be a miracle. We need to add someone. We’ve needed to add someone.
-
Exactly. If you logically step through it, that would mean that QB prospects would be a commodity and the real value would be in coaching staffs and whatnot. The salaries of coaches and trainers would reflect that. But it’s not like that. Because the premium asset is the QB himself.

People seem to have this notion that first round QBs are 100% determined by their environment like a field of crops. Like Bryce isn’t good because we didn’t water him enough basically.

He’s good at starting a crap load of games despite being replacement level on his good days.
