Exactly. The type of school that isn't gonna pay for Tepper's fug up. They'll be calling after he's fired though.
-
Unless you're gonna go for 2 both times to win in regulation, I don't understand the advantage of going for 2 earlier. If you're still going to kick the XP to tie the game later, you're just losing earlier if you miss the 2 PT. There wasn't enough time to make up for the missed conversion in this situation.

They won't. Tom doesn't believe it. He has final say in TB.

Rhule is the biggest joke to ever coach this team

8-8 isn't bad for a first year. and that's 15 wins his first 2 seasons compared to Matt Rhule's 10 (so far). -

He sucked but at least he had 2 decent seasons. I doubt Rhule passes him in wins. -
The sack fumble was Kyle Allen's signature play when he was with us too.

Exactly. What have they done since lucking into Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner? They haven't been able to build anything since those 1st 2 Super Bowl appearances.

Very uncharacteristic post-halftime drive under Rhule. Cam really opening it up. -
The only problem with firing him during the season is we have nobody to make interim. The entire staff is just his college crew that will be gone with him. And don't say Chase Blackburn. Special teams have been awful.

We've invested everything into this defense and we can't stop a WR from running the football. -
It's not wrong to build the defense first, but the problem is we can't stop the run. Both Fox and Rivera built defenses that were more conservative, but able to stop the run. You have to be able to stop the run to win a lot of close games. Our defense now is built to get after the QB. If we had an offense that could put up points, and teams were having to throw all game, it would probably work a lot better.

There could be quite a few HC openings this year

Tepper got his guy last time. When multiple teams were looking. He just picked the wrong guy. -
I know Rhule is bad, but Meyer might be worse

We're in a better situation with Rhule because he's a year closer to being fired. -
Chinn has been completely misused this year. I don't think he deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. He was a stud in his role last season. I think Reddick is probably the only deserving player this season. If Luvu got in the game more, he might have done enough.

Well at least he'll be ready for his next job.

Deviation from the Original Plan.. Is the Reason for this Mess..
PNW_PantherMan replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The whole idea of a "bridge" QB was a mistake. Signing Bridgewater was one of the first mistakes Rhule made. It just doesn't fit the rebuild at all. -
Interesting nugget from Rhule’s Brady presser

Its just a different situation entirely. It genuinely takes time to build programs in college because of the have and have nots of recruiting. In the NFL, you can build a winner from almost any situation in 2 seasons. Or at least be on the right track. This is because of the salary cap and most teams being relatively even in resources. -
I care more about the guy hiring the coach than the actual hire itself. I don't know the first thing about hiring a good NFL coach, and apparently Tepper doesn't either. Hopefully we have football people making that decision this time.

Well good for Joe, but I pity the school that thinks he's a power 5 head coach.

Doug Pederson is one of the few guys I could see taking such a chance. He's already got a SB win on his resume, so if we flamed out with him as OC, I don't think anyone would blame him specifically. If he had any success, he would find himself in interviews for head coaching jobs within a season. But I don't think Matt Rhule is hiring Doug Pederson, or anyone with legit NFL experience for that matter. He would have done it when he was hired, but instead he just hired his college crew.

Heineke being a franchise QB that's just made of glass is something I can't buy. Its revisionist history. We dumped Heineke because he stunk in limited action, and had limited potential (size, age). He's salvaged a career with Washington, and is growing into an entirely different player. On Minshew, most people aren't upset because they thought he'd be our franchise QB. We would just rather pay a 6th to have Minshew play QB than trade a 2nd to play Darnold. They are both low tier starters/high tier backups, but one of them cost a lot more than the other one. We could have paid a lot less to suck.

Person: Rhule could be next, but probably not this year
PNW_PantherMan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree, and I think part of that is Rhule getting his "year 3" fixes forced into this season. Moving on from Sam Darnold and Joe Brady during the season just tells me he isn't getting a 3rd year to fix these problems. Tepper wants to see some actual improvement before committing to that.
