I don’t want to hire a defensive coach period but if we have to I would rather hire someone other than Wilks. Ryans isn’t Wilks and that is enough for me.

I prefer a coach that can coach well during games. Wilks has proven he can’t and the fact he said he isn’t a strategist is damning in its own right. I just want someone new and try an OC for once.

Because Ryans is modern while Wilks is 2003. Ryans will likely run a team like it is from 2023 and not 2003. There is potentially a big difference between Wilks and Ryans. Saying we should hire Wilks and not Ryans because they are both defensive coaches doesn’t make sense. I bet Ryans will be more modern than Wilks and he is the only defensive coach I would not be an angry if we hired him.

I agree if leadership made you 100 percent a good coach Wilks would be it. Unfortunately it doesn’t and, imo, he doesn’t have IT.

Problem is none of those things make a good coach. I could care less of a Wilks is a good person or a leader. Guy is a terrible in game coach.

I like Ellis but his Wilks parading has been beyond annoying. So much so I stopped following his Twitter account. Ellis really wants us to go back to a conservative, old fashioned Foxball way of running this team where we make the playoffs, maybe, every 2 or 3 years. I want sustainability and coaches like Wilks will NOT give us that.

Would love to be a fly on the wall during that interview. Wilks has to know that Tepper wants a team that has a really good offense. Also making your HC be a former OC has its advantages. Wondering if he is only conservative because he has to be or will he be conservative with his own team.

As they should. As good as Wilks is doing it is time for a different type of HC. If Wilks get the job I won’t be happy, but there is nothing I ca do about it.

If we bring Darnold back, I hope to god we don’t, it needs to be a minimal as possible and if he doesn’t take it, whatever.

In a better division they would already be out of the playoffs. So no I disagree they did not earn a spot in the playoffs and this team definitely does not deserve to make it. It just irritates me when people on this board actually think we can beat the Vikings, Cowboys, Eagles or Niners. The talent gap between us and all those teams is monumental. Also if somehow this team flukes it way into the Super Bowl we would get destroyed by the Bengals, Chiefs or Bills. If we make it to the playoffs cool. But I wish people would stop acting like this team has any chance of actually doing something in the playoffs. Whoever faces us gets a free win and we get a participation trophy. I would rather have a team that deserved to make the playoffs and Super Bowl. Not a team that lucked its way in because its division is poo. The 2014 when they made the playoffs they were playing like the 2013 team at that point because they were finally healthy, for the most part. They were a 12-4 team trapped in a 7-8-1 team. That team could have made the Super Bowl and deserved to make the playoffs, imo. This team does not. But if people want to live in fantasy land more power to them. I prefer to live in reality.

I just can’t trust this team. I still feel the shoe will drop. We were really bad against actual playoff teams. If we face the Niners or Eagles it will likely be a blowout. Niners defense is made to destroy QBs like Darnold.

Last year. Also you keep mentioning 1-5 record and yes it does matter. An interim HC having success when he is made interim is not abnormal. Most interims have success because they are injecting some newness into the team. Wilks success isn’t surprising. But, as I said before, stats don’t lie. Unless he has become some savant HC after he flamed out in Arizona. He will either make the playoffs but never make the Super Bowl. Fail once he has control because he isn’t a good HC.
