Young's built sturdier than Stroud per BMI

Which QB Best Fits Reichs RPO Style Offense?
OldhamA replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's the most important position in all of sports - I've no idea why every team doesn't keep 3 on the roster at all times. You should always be developing someone. -
Steven Smith Sr first round QB breakdown
OldhamA replied to PanthersGTI's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you could see on the co-hosts' face that he fears he's about to be replaced. -
Peter King: Bryce Young inching closer to Carolina
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unless Fitterer and Reich are lying, they haven't sat down as a group and discussed who they actually want at QB yet. That discussion starts next week after the visits. -
ESPN’s Matt Miller inside info on Panthers #1 pick
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
See I'm the opposite. I saw Young's debut where he murdered the Canes (we were terrible that year) - I was blown away. The more I watch him, the less I like as an NFL prospect. His size just massively limits what he's going to be able to do in the NFL - there's simply no getting away from it. -
If who's processing was so elite? On the topic of Richardson though, how long do you give SunBelt Billy before he's fired? That offensive system... woof!
-
Richardson is with the Panthers today and tomorrow, FYI.

Dean Jones from CatCrave on Panthers #1 pick
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That War Room is going to get Frank and themselves fired. -
What makes you think he doesn't process well?

Well I've watched them both for multiple years and don't want to watch them any more. Mallory is soft and wouldn't block his grandmother. He's a Flex TE, but don't expect him to make any contested catches. Stevenson came into Coral Gables with a ton of hype after transferring from Georgia. He constantly looked like a S trying to play CB.
-
I'm pooing your tone. It stinks.
-
Tyrique Stevenson CB/NB is a no from me. A consistent disappointment at Miami.

Stroud is not Burrow (out of College at least) and it's a really unfair comparison for CJ. You're setting him up to fail if you think that he can produce anything like in the NFL. Burrow threw for 60 TDs his Senior year (that's 19 more than Stroud as a Junior). He was utterly ridiculous in College - and both were surrounded by 'first day' NFL talent at the skill positions.
-
You're falling into the trap of pigeonholing Richardson as an athlete that doesn't know how to play QB. Pryor, Vick, Young and Jackson all won with their legs first, their arm second. Richardson is an inexperienced pocket passer that just happens to run a 4.4.
-
The good pocket passers that were playing on the overwhelmingly more talented team 95% of the time?

I'm not sure Nagy verbally blowing Saban needed another thread, but I'm not one to judge.

I did the same with Mahomes - started off thinking "meh, he's just a big armed kid in a QB friendly system playing backyard football - that'll never fly in the NFL". Then the more you watched his tape, the more you saw he knew exactly what he was doing on those 'crazy' plays. I don't think Richardson is Mahomes btw - he's the best QB prospect I've ever seen - but I think he's a franchise QB (i.e. a top 5 QB in the NFL that you wouldn't trade for the world) if he pans out. A good deal of my projection for Richardson is based on the fact he's 20 years old, had a terrible supporting cast (both players and coaches) and has only 13 career starts btw. If he looked like this as a 23 year old in year 3 I'd be much less bullish on him.
-
I will be banned if he goes somewhere else and shows out and Young dies on an innocuous play and Stroud hits a 'competent NFL starter' ceiling.
-
We made the trade to get into the QB conversation - it's pretty clear now that only Levis has a shot of being there at #9 overall and that's a hard no from me. We've been repeatedly told that the difference between acquiring #1 and #3 was negligible in terms of Draft capital, so we pulled the trigger. With regards to Richardson sitting - honestly I think that's the last thing he needs. He has 13 career starts (and is THIS advanced with his pocket presence / movement, reads and anticipation) - the guy needs to play football. He's only going to learn through experience. You need to tweak his mechanics, but that's what the offseason and Training Camp is for.
-
He can't block for poo and he's soft. As a late round flier, sure, but nothing more. Also Brown didn't call plays in Miami.

Who Wears What Number? (Future/change of pace thread)
OldhamA replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Richardson wouldn't pick #15. I assume Corral would want some of Young's signing bonus to give him #9. Same with Thompson and Stroud with #7. -
Which player will benefit the most in the 3-4 Defense
OldhamA replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
From the transition to a 3-4 system? Burns. From the DC himself? I'm hoping Chinn.
