  1. We have had awful luck with injuries. If it's significant enough then don't risk it. We really need Legette to get his head out of his ass and step up.
  2. Bryce Young was billed as a generational talent before the draft. It is not up for debate that in the NFL much more often than not he lacks big play ability in general. We have seen a few instances here and there but the problem is that has only come when he has had really great protection across entire games. And he needs that in order to both see the field but also attempt those downfield passes. He has to put everything into it because he lacks those physical tools. He can't just flick a pass deep off his back foot or off balance to say the least. At this point I do not care what Bryce does or doesn't do the rest of the season. This has nothing to do with personal feelings or how nice someone is. This is about what is best for the team. If we are a serious franchise we will bring in another young quarterback from the upcoming draft and let him and Bryce duke it out in camp. That's all there is to it.
  3. Hmm let's see. Listen to a random graph or believe my own eyes which show poor ball placement and way too many 50/50 balls across 30+ career starts. Also I've lost count how many passes I've seen Bryce throw downfield to the sideline that were heading out of bounds and the receiver had to make an acrobatic move just to attempt to haul it in. But more often than not that throw has been an incompletion. BTW it's also not lost on me that the biggest general team fluffers here will waste absolutely no time in switching that up and throwing anyone necessary under the bus in order to prop up #9.
  4. Stupid decisions and impulsive moves like the trade up to #1 and the subsequent moves that have been made to justify it have created the circumstances we see now in what had always been a strength for us. If we had been building intelligently and methodically from the jump we would be in such better shape across the board.
  5. The good thing is there will be options. I got a chuckle out of us going wide receiver at 5 in that mock draft.
  6. Whether it's consistently seeing the field his arm talent his mechanics it all points to a limited player that needs virtually everything to go right in order to possibly begin to overachieve or play at an elite level. Some people are willing to accept average at best but that's not what we're here for. This is a business.
  7. I agree at this point winning at all is needed to restore some semblance of confidence and culture. But can we be honest with one another? I am in no way advocating for tanking because it isn't a realistic concept. But how many times now over these last 8 years or so have we won games that ultimately proved to be meaningless to our culture when we opened the following season looking like butt cheeks? Just beating up a bad team here and there or squeaking by a competitve team on occasion is not going to move the needle. Real culture change will happen with sustained success. That begins with competing for our division and the playoffs.
  8. Just an FYI. The Jaguars only blitzed on 20% of Bryce Young's dropbacks in week 1.
  9. On a personal level he's a fine human by all accounts but this franchise has experienced the best success in 30 years with vocal leaders in Newton and Delhomme. When someone asks you to name the best leaders on your team and time and time again you find yourself naming anyone but your QB then that's a sign you need to keep looking IMO. And that's not even addressing the lack of physical attributes.
  10. To be clear I do not think Bryce Young is necessarily inaccurate in the sense that he can't hit the broad side of a barn the issue is his arm talent is so lacking and he needs perfect circumstances to make certain throws and those circumstances are very rare. The best and even some of the not so great QB's can deliver absolute dimes under pressure and off balance. That is physical talent. Bryce cannot do that and that is an advantage to any defense worth their salt unfortunately. He does not have any semblance of physical talent to separate him from other higher end starters. That was an unnecessary risk we took in trying to build our entire franchise around a guy like that. But we can't keep doubling and tripling down over it.
  11. That is going to be a problem. They will be going up against some tough QB's down the line. And our offense will have to sustain drives and not keep them on the field all day. As much progress as we think we've made the real test remains to be seen.
  12. Between Rhule and Wilks Baker was doomed regardless. While he was mismanaged he also was still an arrogant loudmouth back then let's face it. He needed the humbling to get to where he is now. But we did coddle tf out of Sam Darnold. And we've done it all over again with Bryce Young.
  13. Undoubtedly he's a very solid player and was a really good acquisition. Now the question is how will he Jaycee and the rest of the secondary fare when we go up against a really good QB and our offense has to sustain drives to keep them off the field too long.
  14. At this juncture I don't think you have a point that doesn't involve going to any lengths possible to portray Bryce Young as anything but one of the worst busts of all time. Brady for his career had 7.4 YPA. The top 20 in all time list for YPA hovers at an average of around 7.7. Bryce Young for his career so far is lower than Joey Harrington. Feel free to go find where Harrington is in that list buddy. Good talking to ya. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_yds_per_att_career.htm
  15. Credit where it's due he's stepped up in a big way. Now hopefully this offensive unit can figure things out and reward our defensive players for their efforts.
  16. Well at the end of the day people make a choice to open threads. Beyond that. I will acknowledge that these conversations are getting more and more contentious. But that is the result of a myriad of reasons. Just a few of which begin with the fact that a number of posters here who have spent literal years and some even before the draft shouting down any and all skepticism and criticism on his behalf. To the point that now instead of our starting QB being sold as a generational prospect in terms of processing diagnosing plays and protections and a keen ability to thrive when the play breaks down as he was before the draft. To basically just praising him any time he does anything any below average QB or fringe backup would be capable of. I mean it's to the point where it's basically like congratulating a child for small life milestones instead of an adult athlete who was billed as an elite talent with $39 million guaranteed. And now you have people once again griping that it's being talked about. Well let's be honest about that. Folks who have taken that stance have had their moment. They shouted down dissent all last spring and summer and tried to actually drive people off the huddle. Then we know how preseason and the beginning of the season played out. Then spring/summer for this year went largely the same in terms of folks being ultra defensive about him. Then we once again started out 0-2 after Bryce and the starters looked quite putrid against a team that is BTW 0-3 which I keep hearing so much about. That team made our starting offense look like a high school unit. So no I will not quiet down I will not stop discussing these issues. If someone doesn't like it well that's unfortunate but you folks have had your time to talk down to others and try to dictate conversation. It's year 3. We're going to talk about this and it will not end until the draft when we inevitably pick another QB. Then guess what? There's a whole new layer to the convo. My suggestion would be to take it or leave it and just buckle in. This is the Panthers for better or worse. We should all be used to it by now anyways.
  17. The article you linked is based entirely on that stretch of games last year where he played like an average starter instead of one of the league's worst QB's. It's a puff piece. And it's already been blown out of the water with Bryce's play through the first two games. Beyond that Bryce is barely at 60% completion with 30+ starts so the "highly accurate" label is fantasy at this point. He throws a ton of 50/50 balls due to his mechanics too.
  18. Bryce Young's current YPA - 5.3 Jimmy Clausen's YPA in 2010 - 5.2 Only rookie project Cam Ward is worse than Bryce so far. It is not unfair or unrealistic to expect our #1 overall pick to do much better than that in his third season. And no that does not mean he has to be Cam Newton.
  19. There is a whole world of middle ground between Jimmy Clausen and Cam Newton sir.
  20. Yeah how rude of people to acknowledge what's plainly right in front of everyone's nose.
  21. The posts are there for anyone to read. You've been carrying his water for so long now I don't think you know which way is up.
  22. Let them come. It's a combination of things. The definition of a deep pass will always be what past iterations of football was for many despite what these statistical outlets try to push in order to prop up their newer generations of favorites. But even with all that. It's still situational. It's okay to take what defenses are giving you as long as your guy has the prerequisite physical talent to adapt to a more downfield attack. The problem is when that doesn't exist you need everything to go perfect or the other team to flounder and gift you field position and points. Which is where we're at.
