I am a fan who is very pro player and generally despises most owners especially in the NFL where they control so much. But in 2010 players also raved about Marty Hurney. Doesn't ultimately mean much or signal big or great things are on the horizon. We actually had our best years under Gettlegut (until he torpedoed the roster getting cute) who many would regard as a total dick. Just hire a coach that has the right plan to bring this offense into the year 2023 with the rest of the contending teams in our conference. If it's Wilks we'll accept it and hope for the best but if this goes South I will never want to hear again about how much so and so like this or that coach.

Using Kemba to crap on LaMelo? Kemba didn't even start averaging 20 points until his 5th season and Ball is already doing that in his third season. OP is like Scott Fowler on the night we drafted LaMelo and then kicked up several more notches. The way this franchise is mismanaged Ball may not even want to stick around so you're wasting energy hating on him.

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick
frankw replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
We also had our chance to not need any extra picks to move up. Typical Panthers. -
All those games mattered man it's all we had been talking about through December. Again. 24 points isn't going to cut it against a playoff bound team more often than not. The defensive breakdowns were just salt in the wound. Meaningless or not that's an embarrassing way to end the season. And no I do not think Wilks should be the head coach I haven't given him a pass. Though as I've said I do give him credit for looking significantly better than Rhule at times. But the lows (Cincinnati and New Orleans in particular) are glaring. This franchise needs more than Ron Rivera 2.0. We should switch gears and hire an offensive minded head coach.

I was referring to both the Pittsburgh game and the Detroit game. Playoffs were on the line the last 4 weeks. We got lucky against the Lions thanks to historic efforts from our run game (that do not happen often) and we needed that win at home against the Steelers. Two passing touchdowns between those two games over 8 quarters of football. Yeah it was nice Sam finally put up some touchdowns against the Bucs but it was too little too late to that point. And any one of us that's watched Tom play no matter how much we dislike him knew we were going to need probably 30 points to punch our ticket. We can be mad about the defense justifiably so all we want but it's an offensive league these teams have talented players too. The horrendous performance from our passing offense against New Orleans is only confirmation of our need to start over with that side of the ball.

Speaking as someone who wanted us to draft Fields this is silly. You can find a QB in this years draft with the floor of Fields right now. He has tremendous talent but even I know he's very raw at best as a passer. He still has time but he needs to make a jump next season. We should and will be targeting QB early in this years draft. -
Keeping Wilks McAdoo and Sam? Yeah this place would burn.

Yeah no poo we know our secondary was awful those games are going to happen. That's why it's important to have a quarterback who can muster more than one passing touchdown when the playoffs are on the line.

PFF grades from Panthers Week 18 win over Saints
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we hire Ben Johnson I'd say odds are good one of his first priorities would be showing Darnold and Walker the door and starting over with a new QB room. Corral would be the only one left. That's the way. -

Clearly our receivers need to do a better job of getting open. -

Sounds good. But we can question any candidate for hours they still have to be able to prove it on the field. We should go with the candidate that has the best offensive framework plan for how to bring that side of the ball from the early 2000's and into the modern league or we are not getting into the playoffs again anytime soon. That's really the only goal that matters. And in that aspect we watched our team fail miserably in a division that is in the worst shape we have seen in at least a decade. We should be owning the South for the next several years. -

But who is to say Wilks won't be going through that process though? And he will be having to repeat lessons we already saw Ron Rivera learn or in his case on certain things learn but keep stubbornly doing anyway. If you are on board the Wilks train for the sake of continuity you might want to rewatch both the wins and losses under Wilks. -

One thing I notice the loud pro Wilks fans don't want to talk about much if at all is that Bengals loss. For all the positive talk of Wilks if things go bad that's what we can expect. -

It's the Rhule effect. People are scared to swing for anything else. All that failure proved is you don't pay a college coach with no established history at the NFL level a king's ransom. It shouldn't affect our decision making. This is the path that we should have followed in 2020. I fear if Wilks is hired we will end up right back here within three years. -

You wanted Ron to go but you are fully in favor of bringing back a coach who will have to learn the concept of going for it on 4th down and not punting over and over like Rivera did early on? You're entitled to your opinion but this place really is bizarro sometimes. -
Apparently page 6 of this thread is like room 237 from The Shining. Good luck posting up in here.

Yep. If I were from St. Louis I would be enjoying every minute of it.
