  1. This preseason has killed any expectations I previously had. Obviously they still need time to build chemistry, but man you'd think that just pure talent should carry you in a match against a USL side. I'm looking forward to the season starting just so that I can actually watch them play and get to know the players. I can read scouting reports all day but watching the games is the best way for me to know what we have.
  2. It did have that feel, but the PI was the only blatantly wrong call. And if we look back to the no call on Tee Higgin's TD, it's a wash.
  3. Did we watch the same game? I was engaged from the jump. And I can only think of two bad calls for the game, one caused a Bengals TD, and one led to a Rams TD.
  4. I wasn't expecting a playoff appearance in the first year. Maybe I would have if we would've signed Arriola or Machis. I'm just hoping for a competitiveness in every game and an improvement as the season progresses.
  5. Not surprised at the sports bar stat. It's become tradition to watch it at home. And most people have work Monday morning lol. Also not surprised that SEC country is not interested. You couldn't pay those folks to care about the NFL.
  6. Charlotte played the friendly against the national team of Grenada. Machis currently plays for La Liga club side Granada (in the Spanish city of Granada). Confusing, but they are different.
  7. I agree, but it was never going to be Red Wolves. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/why-washington-football-teams-new-name-wont-be-redwolves-or-wolves/3z4hlnfgw73y1ewg1n9hpf7q2 Why Washington Football Team won't be 'RedWolves' While "RedWolves" was a popular choice among fans to replace "Washington Football Team," team president Jason Wright announced on Jan. 4 that the organization wouldn't be opting for the name because of potential "legal hurdles." Here's the statement: In short, the name is already trademarked. The team's reported preferred choice was "RedWolves," but the name was already owned in July 2020.
  8. And I said it was a dumb name in my initial post, so we're in agreement there. But there are plenty of other dumb team names in American professional sports that we've gotten used to.
  9. I understand that, but objectively speaking it is a goofy name for a sports team, but we're all used to it by now so it doesn't make a difference.
  10. The name Washington Commanders is dumb but we'll get used to it. I mean there's literally a team called the Browns and that doesn't seem abnormal.
  11. So assuming that Darwin Machis is a done deal, and that he starts on the left wing, are we looking at our opening day starters here?
  12. For all of you in the "Tepper cares more about the soccer team than the Panthers" crowd, this move doesn't really support that narrative. There is less than a month until the start of the MLS season, and Charlotte FC now has a new president. Tepper clearly waited until after the NFL season ended to restructure, regardless of how close it was to the MLS season starting. I mean, imagine the Panthers announcing that there's a new team president in August.
  13. https://www.charlottefootballclub.com/news/joe-labue-named-club-president Not entirely sure what this means for the organization, but it certainly doesn't look good to have an organizational restructure this close to the season starting, and before a game has even been played. Changes in executive leadership Tuesday, Feb 1, 2022, 10:29 AM CHARLOTTE — Tepper Sports and Entertainment made a change in leadership Tuesday, with several existing executives taking on new roles. Nick Kelly has been appointed chief executive officer of Tepper Sports and Entertainment and Joe LaBue has been named president of Charlotte FC. President of business operations Tom Glick, who had been with Tepper Sports & Entertainment since 2018, is stepping aside to pursue other opportunities. Kelly was previously the team president of Charlotte FC, and has 15 years of experience in sports and entertainment marketing. He joined the company from Anheuser-Busch InBev, where he worked as vice president of partnerships, culture and community and previously as head of U.S. sports marketing. LaBue has been with the organization for 10 years, and has 20 years of experience in sports and entertainment. He began with the Panthers as a sales manager, and was previously vice president of ticket sales and services. He has also worked for the Washington Football Team, and managed corporate sponsorships for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which operates the Washington Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics. As part of the transition, Kristi Coleman has been named president of the Carolina Panthers. Additionally, Nicole Tepper has been named chief administrative officer of Tepper Sports and Entertainment. In her role, she will focus on growing a culture that values its people and partners, and further engrains the organization in the Carolinas community. She has played a key role with a number of philanthropic projects across the Carolinas on behalf of the Panthers and the David and Nicole Tepper Charitable Foundation. "Nick, Kristi, Joe and Nicole are talented, passionate executives and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them as we strengthen our organization and build winning teams for our fans," owner David Tepper said. "We thank Tom for his many contributions to the organization and wish him and his family the best."
