Yeah I get that perspective, but lets say we want whatever HC. They'll probably take a look at the cap space of the teams offering them the job. Our roster/cap space in 23' vs the actual good players still on the roster and $125M in cap space in 24' is pretty stark. We'll need to fill out like 20ish spots in 24' and I bet a new HC would prefer to work with a GM to have that much space to get specific guys for their vision

The question is why do it in the first place? The Saints did it for years because they had Brees and a 10 year Super Bowl window to keep their core roster together. We did it so Rhule could attempt to save his job by hoping players could "Play above the x's and o's" and get him like 7 wins instead of 5

To be fair, Tepper was standing over his shoulder in the draft confidential telling him "The time is now", and Rhule was like "I got Bill on speed dial I'll call him right now!", and Fitt was just like alright whatever lol

He was Cardinals PS, but I'm pretty sure we just signed him to the active roster. Only way to poach PS players from other teams

Yeah was just thinking, maybe Wilks told him he needs a guy that can potentially play MLB, and he supposedly looked really good in the preseason. Vet FA market isn't very attractive and they probably are taking a break from trading away draft picks to "win now"

And for some reason they're written in some insane code that takes players 2 months to memorize. It's like asking the players to run basic preseason plays but process them in the huddle in the most round about way imaginable
