  1. These kids are not ready for the halftime ass chewing BB is about to hit them with.
  2. tbh, my expectations are low until proven otherwise. I'm hopeful to see the team come out of the gate swinging, but there's a lot of questions that still need to be answered that we've been asking all offseason. Looking at the moves that the team has made and the way that current contracts for this roster are set up, I get the feeling that the team is looking to compete but it's all about evaluating whether or not they're going to need to invest in a new signal caller to start the 2026 season. The offense needs to hit the ground running and build off of last season's momentum. If they come out sputtering and can't figure it out quickly, they're going to dig a hole that they're not going to be able to get themselves out of. Fingers crossed that the defense comes together quickly. They won't be a top-10 unit but pls just don't be bottom-5.
  3. Got the TV on just in time to catch the TD. Anything noteworthy on the opening drive?
  4. Assuming you're genuinely confused and not feigning ignorance, it's worth reviewing those last two sentences that were originally quoted: In one breath, there is a declaration that there is "no justification". In the next, "there is a bit of nuance that shouldn't just be ignored." And then ended with, "should not be entertained." It reads like a contradictory "no excuses" sandwich that suggests that there is nuance because we're supposed to just look at the other players at their position when that's already being done? Then there's the contradiction of suggesting that nuance "shouldn't just be ignored" being followed by suggesting that nuance "should not be entertained." Hopefully that helps with us understanding one another better.
  5. Practice tweets/news from today (will post videos in the next cpl of posts if there are any worthwhile): K Ryan Fitzgerald now wearing #10. QB Hendon Hooker has #12. WR Dalevon Campbell has #81. RB DeeJay Dallas was in #1 but it's currently a practice-only number as he was playing the part of Jag's RB Travis Etienne on the scout team (his real number is #20). WR Jalen Coker walked out with a compression sleeve on his left leg. Later seen on the bike. LG Damien Lewis not wearing the red practice jersey anymore, should be full go for Thursday. LT Ikem Ekwonu was at practice but not dressed out as he recovers from an appendectomy. Worked out on the sideline with Jalen Coker + RB Jonathon Brooks. WRs Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, and Hunter Renfrow were all exempt from special teams practice. Likely three starters for Thursday. OT Yosh Nijman got the first looks at LT today. During the post-practice presser, Canales said that there was a lot of good energy today and that offense won the 1-on-1s which included a 40yd throw from Bryce Young to Xavier Legette early to "set the tone" (per Canales). Also stated that Icky is currently day-to-day. Commented on having a training plan for Coker this passed offseason and that he did a great job following it (though the quad issue is one he has had in the past). Renfrow's locker is between Dalton and Hooker (left) and Young (right). Sounds like they're trying to get Renfrow on the same page as the QBs in this offense to replace AT's role as that second set of "QB eyes" on the field. Icky talked about his symptoms that led to his surgery and mentioned that his dad, a physician, was who got him to go. Won't rush himself back, but hasn't ruled out playing Sunday. Renfrow said he had others, but he was either going to play for the Panthers or not at all. Said Bryce called him during the process and that when he was released the team mentioned that the Thielen trade might be coming. Got the news while picking up a trailer at his other job. Also said that Canales told him that he didn't think that he was physically ready yet but wanted him back on the practice squad. The Coker injury changed the calculus.
  6. Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion at all. I think we can both agree though that going from "there is no justification" to "there is nuance" is an abrupt pivot... enough to make anybody do a double-take.
  7. The way you went from "there is no justification" to "there is a bit of nuance" made my head spin.
  8. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody claimed the Teppers demanded that the players voted for the current captains.
  9. Correction: 4th and 5th captains rotate
  10. Personally, I couldn't imagine being the waterboy for the Haslams and posting on another team's message board... but then again, I have things to be joyful and grateful about regardless of how my NFL team performs.
  11. Sounds like it's one per squad (Bryce (offense), Derrick (defense), and JJ (special teams)) with a rotating fourth. According to the article on the team site, this was voted on by the players.
  12. The conversation I had to have with my Gamecocks-affiliated family members last night when they asked what kind of adjustments were going to be made to help with protection was not received well... especially when propped up by the events of Super Bowl 50.
  13. Wild week 0 + 1 but not as crazy as we have seen before imo Kansas St put up a fight, albeit an ugly one against Iowa State only to turn around and barely survive against North Dakota. Looks like this Florida State team might be more like the ACC winners than the 2-win squad from last season. Bama still looks competitive but FSU clearly wanted it more. Frank Reich and Mike Shula are still dumpster fire coaches, but it is fun remembering the 2015 Panthers watching Shula call plays for LaNorris. Speaking of... as much as it pains me to say it, South Carolina looks better than Clemson at the moment. South Florida's thumping of Boise State put to bed any postseason playoff drama for the Broncos. Tarleton State over Army in 2OT!? Navy is going to smoke them this season. Looks like Wake Forest's strategy of recruiting older players with leftover COVID eligibility to play while pursuing their graduate degree has run its course after barely holding on 10-9 vs Kennesaw State. I've got a few friends from ATL that went there and they were lighting up social media. Close games for GT/Colorado, LSU/Clemson, and Texas/Ohio State. Nussmeier looked like the better prospect between him, Arch, and Cade. Drew Allar and LaNorris also looked really good. The QB class this season is going to be fun to watch. Tulane whooping up on Northwestern surprised me. Not that the latter is a powerhouse but I wouldn't have bet on that score. Going to be an interesting team to keep an eye on. I thought Kentucky would have ran the score up on Toledo, not keep it within one score.
  14. There are fans that wanted the Panthers to do the same thing to their QB room this season.
  15. Ngl seeing them land LaNorris after suffering through DJU hurts. I have never been impressed with Cade either, but am hoping he can win me over this season.
  16. Was trying to remember where this came from and then it hit me... buddy of mine that was recruited to play LT for a D1 school (he quickly realized he did not want to do that grind and ended up grinding to be a pharmacist instead). He was telling me how it was insane to have assignments and then these pitbulls in front of you on the DL are literally hopping and rolling over one another to change where they're lined up. Dudes in the trenches are built different... not quite as crazy as the animals that love special teams, those dudes are crazy crazy
  17. People hating XL are just as stupid as people hating BY but I do have to give the former credit where credit is due: they didn't spend the entire offseason shitting up threads and derailing them like the latter did. This reminds me so much of hack comedians complaining that they can't tell racist jokes anymore or they'll get cancelled rather than just admitting that they were never as funny as they thought they were.
  18. Yea, offenses usually take time to get in sync vs. the organized chaos that is defense
  19. Suuuucks having to worry about the run defense still, but despite that revamped DL the LB room is leaving a lot of question marks. Hoping to see the pass rush develop over the course of the season should Scourton and/or Umanmielen get settled in quickly. I'm hype to see the WRs. TMac, XL, Renfrow, Coker when he gets back, and JHJ is the most interesting WR room we've had in a looong time. Will they be as good as we hope? Will just have to see... I think things will really take off as TMac gets comfortable. The TE room is going to be interesting... Hopefully one of those guys steps up because that would be huge for the offense. Still bummed about Coker's injury despite getting Renfrow back on the roster out of it. I really like the way things were looking running out of 11 with TMac/XL/Coker being big bodies. Tremble or Sanders though kind of tips the hand there. Duo tho? TMac/XL/Tremble/Sanders/Chuba could give some good flexibility. And of course... which Bryce do we get to start in JAX? While he hasn't filled out the stat sheet, the offense hasn't struggled because of him in the preseason which is good... but it didn't exactly excite either. Can't talk about the run game nor the QB without thinking about the OL. Does Icky make it back? Is that the worst thing that happens to the starters (which would mean that DLew's shoulder doesn't flare back up)? Aaaaaaahhhhh so excited for football being back.
  20. Earl Little Jr for FSU is a lot of fun to watch play the rover position in their defense. He comes downhill like a missile.
