  1. Well sure, but if you're in NC, you would get them through a basic cable package. And if you're not in the local area, then the cost would be fair because it's comparable to needing to go to a bar to watch every week. I'll also put it this way... Of all the subscriptions I have to pay for these days (and it's way too many), it's really one of only two that I feel are a fair price that I don't mind paying, the rest are all way too high. Side note... the other is for AMC's A-List, by far the best deal in entertainment (at least if you love the movie theater experience like myself). $20 a month and can see up to 4 movies a week, 2 movies a month and you're making money on it compared to buying them individually. I passed my break even point for the year in June, so will get 6+ months of "free" movies through the end of the year.
  2. The NFL averages 2.2 million viewers per PRESEASON game, the HOF game had 6.9 million viewers. The NBA Finals averaged 10.3 million viewers for the Finals and 4.5 million across the playoffs overall. They aren't even comparable, the NFL makes twice as much money a year as the NBA does, of course the TV packages are going to be very different. Also, tons of fans will watch as many NFL games as possible (mainly because of Fantasy), but not a whole lot of them are going to be watching random NBA games every single night, at least not in comparison to with the NFL.
  3. "Things like this" were never included with cable in the past, because there's never been anything like it. I can't think of a single league that you could watch every single game from it through your cable, even with an added sports package you'd just get a channel that carries various gamest. Pretty sure the NFL was the first league to do this with Sunday Ticket, and they've all followed suit since, but even all of those are separate expensive packages just like Sunday Ticket is. And given that the point of Sunday Ticket has always been for out of town fans to be able to watch their team every week, there really isn't any other math to run compared to the cost for an out of town fan to watch the Panthers every Sunday, at least legally. I can understand wishing it was cheaper, of course I do too, but when you really look at it logically, it really isn't a bad price point.
  4. Exactly I can see how people who live near their favorite team would hate it, because I'm sure they'd love to have it to watch other games, such as for fantasy watching. But the cost is way too high if that's what you're getting it for, if you don't need it to watch your favorite team, it doesn't make much sense to buy. But I'm saving money on the season, getting to listen to the commentary on our games (which when you go a decade or two of only getting that a couple times a year if you're lucky, it's pretty nice to have), and then get to watch all my fantasy players (and opponents) every week of the season. So the price doesn't bother me, it's totally worth it.
  5. Because it's not that bad, it is literally saving people money if they don't live near the team they root for and are able to get them on local TV every week. Do I wish it was cheaper? Sure, of course. But I can also objectively look at it and say it's saving me money compared to needing to go watch it at a bar ever weekend. And before anyone says to just stream it, I did it for a while once Covid hit, partially because we were so bad so I didn't care about the problems with it, but it was just awful. To begin with, sometimes they just flat out didn't work, sometimes the quality sucked, sometimes it would just buffer every 30 seconds and be nearly unwatchable. The $450 this costs for the season is a significantly better deal than the $180 I have to spend to watch Wrexham matches for the season. That pass, you have to sign up for an individual team and you only get their games (and not even all of them sometimes). At least with Sunday Ticket, you get every single non national or local game, which again, is amazing for fantasy football junkies.
  6. It really isn't though If you were to go out to a bar every week of the season, even to just watch one batch of games, i.e. just the 1 pm or just the 4 pm, and spent only $30 a week, you're looking at $540 bucks, $510 if you're just going for the 17 weeks your team is playing, assuming no national games. Also, from past experience, it's hard to spend only 30 bucks if you're at a bar for 3+ hours to watch the game. Even just a small appetizer, a meal, and say 2 beers was going to run you $40ish, and that was back in 2019 when I used to go to BWW to watch all our games pre the Covid year when I just started finding streams and stuck with that until YouTube got the package from DirecTV. At $450 for a full season, to be able to watch every game, to be able to make your own quad box, to be able to switch between the sound for any game (at a bar in Michigan, I would never get to hear the commentary on our games)... It's really not a bad deal, and that's if you're only watching your team's games. If you're a fantasy football junkie like myself, then it's a flat out steal, as depending on your TV set up, you can get every game from your fantasy matchup playing. I do a projector with a quad box on it, a local game on the TV, and then if needed, I can put another game on my laptop and another on my phone.
  7. Well that's my point, if he couldn't make the initial 53 here, he probably knows that if he signs with us, it's as a locker room mentor and he probably won't play much, if not even just being inactive on game days. If other teams are offering him a chance at real playing time, it's then which does he prefer, to be closer to his family or to actually get to play again. I can see why he'd need to talk it over with them
  8. Well, also saw that there were other teams interested in him, so maybe the talking it over with his family is more about whether he wants to stay home in Carolina, or go play somewhere else where he might get more snaps.
  9. Yep, all NFL players learn everything they will need to know for their careers by the start of their 2nd season, they never learn and improve after that. Oh, and if you’re a 1st round pick, you learn all that in the first couple months of the draft, so T-Mac is good for the rest of his career too. Sorry Horn Jr, you’re just SOL I guess
  10. People overestimate what coaches do. It’s like you’ve never watched the sidelines during a game and see the players talking about what they’re seeing out there and giving each other pointers to play better. Yes, coaches do some of that, but people are straight up sticking their heads in the sand if they think seasoned vets don’t impart wisdom onto younger players every day of the season.
  11. But in any profession in life, you also have people who help teach you the things they've learned over their career to make you better, particularly early in your career. I'm not saying we need a vet to be taking a ton of snaps or targets, but someone who has been around the block (as an actual WR, not a special teamer) who can help these guys out.
  12. It's about the inexperience of the room Coaches can't teach players everything, I just really don't like the lack of a seasoned vet WR (Moore doesn't really count with his 115 career receptions) to help these guys out. Even just the in-between series stuff where the vets are giving the young guys tips and pointers on things, that will be missed if we don't bring someone else in (or Renfrow back).
  13. That's the total number of catches our WR corps has in the NFL
  14. In a make or break year for Bryce to prove he can be the guy... Tommy Tremble and David Moore are the only pass catchers (not including RBs) who have played more than 1 NFL season. That's just scary to think about, no matter how much potential these young guys have.
  15. Honestly, if the two of them wanted out after getting a raise this offseason to come back, then I'd rather have IR'd him with a papercut and just paid him to not be able to play this year. They only wanted out because the Vikings badly needed a WR, doesn't mean we should have bent over and let the Vikings shove their horn up our ass
  16. My feelings about trading Thielen never had anything to do with Bryce, it was always 100% about having Thielen around to mentor the young WRs. Right now, our Top 4 WRs are all 1st or 2nd year players and so is our 6th. That's so dumb, you needed someone like Thielen in there to help mentor the room, we really need to bring in a seasoned vet who is a "pro's pro" type of guy (or just bring back Renfrow, as again, it's not about on the field for me, it's about off).
  17. It's a 4th round pick 2 drafts from now, when we'll also be giving up a 5th round pick in that same draft. While then getting a 5th in the next draft and giving up what will be a 6th or 7th rounder depending how well Thielen does. Which means we likely just traded Thielen away to move up 20 or so picks on the 3rd day of back to back drafts. It makes no sense
  18. Also, doesn't this now mean David freaking Moore is currently the only WR on the team who has played more than 1 season in the NFL? So so dumb.
  19. So we traded Thielen to move up 1 round in 2027 and then depending how he plays this year, move up 1 or 2 rounds from the 6th or 7th into the 5th in 2026. What a beyond moronic trade, this makes absolutely no sense, I didn't even want to trade him for a 4th, but I'd have taken a single 5th for him in 2026 over this garbage trade. Good lord.
  20. Never thought Renfrow wouldn’t make it, that’s quite surprising after all the great word about him in camp.
  21. If Chinn was on this defense right now, he'd probably be one of our starting ILB's this year I hated that Evero refused to use him, but we're even more depleted at ILB right now than we were then, so I think it would be different.
  22. I wouldn't mind the team looking into him given our need at both ILB and Safety, who knows, maybe we can find a role for him somewhere.
  23. As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways). He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise. His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
  24. He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season. I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would. I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
