  1. :58 is definitely not a floater. But clearly we have a different definition on what a floater is and looks like, so fair enough.
  2. You compared him to Jimmy Clausen. So I would agree, this was never an intelligent conversation.
  3. See I don't think so. Yeah he puts a lot of touch on his throws, but he has been pretty aggressive. Guys just aren't getting open. But he's absolutely shown a willingness to try to fit it into tight windows. Look at 1:07 in the same video. Again another throw where he's rolling out to his left and tries to make a throw off base, this time into double coverage. Bad decision? Yeah, but I don't think he lacks faith in his arm. He has missed some throws but I'm not going to question his accuracy just yet. It takes some time for a lot of these guys. Luck completed 54% of his passes as a rookie and he threw plenty of clunkers too. And I'm sure some will accuse me of "aimlessly throwing names out there," but I do think it is important to maintain context. You suggested earlier that you felt before the draft his arm was on par with those guys. I don't think you should let 2 weeks change your opinion just yet. Have I been blown away by Young? No, but I also feel super confident in my evaluation of him that I won't throw that out of the window because of 2 weeks.
  4. You criticized Young for barely eclipsing 100 passing yards. I responded by saying Lawrence, a fellow No. 1 pick who had a terrible offense around him as a rookie, also barely threw for 100 yards in his 2nd game. Not sure how that is "aimlessly throwing out names." It seems like you just don't know what you are talking about.
  5. :58 second mark The ability to make that throw while not on a solid base and rolling out to his left. That is not an easy throw for a lot of guys. But again, we both watch the games. Clearly you have come away with a different take than I have. Between his tape at Alabama and what I have seen thus far, I don't think his arm or lack thereof will be the reason why he fails, if he fails. What makes you think his arm is lesser than the QBs I've mentioned thus far?
  6. If you think Bryce Young has looked like Jimmy Clausen, then your football opinion means very little to me. Again, Lawrence only threw for 118 yards in his 2nd game. Did he also fall below your Clausen bar?
  7. I disagree, but neither of us will change our mind on it so fair enough. I think his arm is absolutely on par with guys like Tua, Burrow, and Goff.
  8. Trevor Lawrence threw for 118 yards in his 2nd NFL game. No, my expectations haven't sunken. It is ya'll who have unreasonable expectations for how a rookie QB looks in a bad offense.
  9. I really don't know why you keep pushing this narrative. Just because he's short doesn't mean he can't make the throws. Jared Goff has had a very successful NFL career and his arm is about the same as Young's. Again, a middle ground exists. No, Young doesn't need Tyreek and Waddle. But as a rookie trying to adapt to the NFL, he needs something better than Thielen and Hurst. Is that really unreasonable to ask? The difference is I am willing to accept that Young may not work out. I think he will, but I accept it as a possibility. Whereas, with all due respect because you are a very intelligent football fan, you seem so stuck in your belief that Young doesn't have the talent, so on and so forth. It is not unreasonable for people give leeway to a rookie QB after his 2nd game in an offense devoid of talent. Young is not playing all that worse than a lot of No. 1 Picks in similar situations, Goff included. That does not guarantee he will have the career Goff has had, but in knowing that, it seems foolish to try and put a cap on his potential as you continue to do. I think Young played bad last night, but I also still see the traits that got him taken first overall. I can understand if you disagree or haven't seem them, what I mostly disagree with is how you keep trying to cap his potential. Like "oh yeah he needs an All-Pro supporting cast." No, he as a rookie just needs better than what he has.
  10. Bryce Young can make the throws. I don't know why that narrative continues to be pushed. At the very least, his arm strength is on par with Tua's, and Tua hasn't held back speed demons like Hill and Waddle. Again, I want to reiterate. I accept the possibility that Young might not work out. But some of the things people are saying is way off-base. Young missing throws in his 2nd NFL game does not mean he can't make the throws. He absolutely has the physical talent to make throws into tight windows.
  11. Stroud and Young have had 2 COMPLETELY different game scripts in their career. Texans have been down 28-10 and 22-6. Panthers have had 2 close games. Of course Stroud is going to put up better numbers when defenses are just protecting massive leads. And this isn't to say he hasn't played well. He has and I like Stroud so this isn't me trying to criticize him. But look at how his numbers jump in the 2nd half compared to the 1st. Panthers have the 30th scoring offense and Texans have the 29th scoring offense. If scoring is what matters the most, suffice to say then that Stroud and Young are both experiencing massive rookie growing pains. The difference is the Texans are getting blown out and Stroud is able to put up yards as a result (420 of his 620 passing yards have come in the 2nd half, his QB rating, Y/A, and CMP% all jump dramatically too), whereas defenses play the Panthers tight the whole game.
  12. Come on man. There is a middle ground between having an All-Pro supporting cast and having what we have.
  13. And it would be foolish to do so. Maybe Young doesn't work out. But it is 2 weeks into his rookie season. It would be just as wrong to write him off and laugh at his performance even if he wasn't a Carolina Panther. It isn't like he's looked flat-out terrible. He's looked like a rookie playing in a bad offense.
  14. The problem with this is you will then be asking your RB to do something he isn't used to doing and that is taking a snap under center.
  15. Isn't this the usual? I feel like the Panthers always wear white in September.
  16. I'm optimistic about this team and its future, but I really don't see us winning this one. The Falcons were a good match-up for us, which makes the loss frustrating because we shot ourselves in the foot. Saints are not a good match-up for us IMO. Too much depth at receiver and they have a much better front seven than the Falcons did. I'm not sure how we win this unless Carr shats himself.
  17. Eagles OL > Panthers OL Swift never had this kind of performance with the Lions, so what an odd thread to make. In fact, prior to this game, he had only 4 career 100-yard rushing games in 3 years with a high of 144. Swift is very talented, but he almost certainly would not be running for 175 yards on this team in Week 2.
  18. If the Panthers cared that much about drafting local players, they would have drafted Sam Howell
  19. What? How could the Panthers have foreseen he would have injury problems?
  20. Cowboys are my pick to rep the NFC in the Super Bowl. That team is crazy talented, top to bottom. Prescott struggled with TOs last year, but the 4 years before that his INT% was 1.7 so I chalked it up as a fluke. He's not a GREAT QB, but he is definitely good enough and they have surrounded him with so many talented playmakers and Lamb is a superstar. But man more than anything, that defense is filthy. Some will say the Giants offense is bad and while that is true, they had the 5th ranked defense last year. And all they did was get better by adding Gilmore. Parsons is as good as any player on defense. 49ers are great too though. Damn the NFC might not have the depth the AFC has but between the Cowboys, 49ers, and Eagles... man the top of this conference is insane.
  21. Yeah, this is just a crazy take. Clearly you don't remember how bad Clausen was. There is a reason he finished with 3 TDs in 299 throws. Either that or you are letting pure hatred cloud your judgment and evaluation.
  22. Being a rookie is not a "weak excuse." It ain't like Young looked like Jimmy Clausen out there.
  23. "Mortgage the future" is an exaggeration but I get what he means, especially with how loaded the 2024 QB Class could be (although I do think some of the QBs are a bit overhyped). I am sold on Bryce Young though, so no worries from me.
  24. Yeah, his arm is definitely good enough. I'd say it is about on the same level as Joe Burrow's. That plus a crazy quick release, it really won't be an issue that holds him or the offense back (when we get capable downfield receivers).
  25. It happens every Week 1-3. I promise you it isn't happening any more or less right now, it just feels that way because you are in the now and not the past. But this is an issue to start the season every year because again, it is rough on some players. Even preseason isn't being played at the level of intensity as a regular season game.
