It only takes a little luck to build this thing up. In other words. I guess it all comes down to Fitts, and his relationship with Wilks. Are they on the same page? If so, we really do have the makings of something to build upon.

YEAH!!!!

If we play to our capabilities, the Lions are the only team that scares me. If we can get past them. I can truly see us winning the South. But then again. Who the heck knows?

How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?
Gerry Green replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do you even remember what my original post said? I said; That it seemed like Burns was facing a TE every play. If he moved to the other side, there was a TE there waiting on him. That sure doesn't sound like a post that needs this level of animosity. But have hat it. Cuz I'm done with you. Also, why do you have to be soo...hostile? You act like I done you wrong. It's a message board for crying out loud. -
Ball control teamed with a good/great D can make other teams weary. All you need is a QB that can keep the chains moving, and hit a deep one when the box is stacked. Nothing spectacular, just Steady Eddie can do it. Sound teams that play fundamental football are going to be in most games. But having that Quality QB? That adds a measure of scarability. We get that Quality QB, and that could be us.

But @Toomers just said Burns was across from Cross 70% of the time. You both can't be right. And maybe I am too. All I said was the Burns seemed to have a TE across from him everywhere he went. And it has turned into this. It sure seems like ppl don't just want to tell you when you are wrong. They want to beat you over the head with it as well. Life is too much fun for this. So, I'm out. Burns was made to have a bad day. Damm happy we won. -
Truthfully, all I want is a HC that can do 3 things. Lead, motivate, and find good ASSTs. Look at Campell in Detroit. Almost his entire staff is made up of former players. Putting a staff together is just one of three keys. But it all falls apart if you don't get all 3. Can Wilks do that? Personally, I say yes. He has the contacts. He is self-aware. And he can definitely lead and motivate.

I've been saying that we need to establish a new coaching position. Asst. to the OC. He can learn the ropes, and when the OC leaves, he takes over. He then hires him an ASST. and we repeat the process to infinity and beyond.

I claimed that Burns had a slow day because no matter where he went there always seemed to be a TE to greet him. 1 guy says that the Hawks play 2 TE a lot, so there was almost always going to be a TE across from Burns. Another guy says that Burns was across from Cross 70% of the time. Just one of those things that make you go hmmm? -
I think a lot of it will come down to who the OC is. Who does he want. Can we get him. Lots and lots of interesting goings on coming up.

This will be my last response to this. Because it's just the same back-and-forth over and over again. Who cares how we won. At the end of the year you do not get bonus points for how you won. As long as the team keeps winning, the stronger the chance Wilks returns. If, by some act of God, we do win the South. Wilks will have an 8-4 record. With a 6 game winning streak going. That is how you start a winning culture. A win is a win. You can quantify it all you want. But it's still a win. Ppl are upset when we lose, and upset when we win. Man, I love this joint.

Winning begets winning. Can't wait to see where this all goes.

Winning begets winning. Let's see how far this thing will take us? Oops wrong poster. I do apologize.

Ooh, good one boss -
You keep attributing traits for Wilks that he hasn't even shown yet. We've won 3 out of the last 4. I can live with those streaks. But good luck with that Offensive Coach thing.

I'm fine. A couple of posters not liking me isn't going to upset me in the least. It's a message board. Not life or death. Well, it's not for me, but some of you. It's a battle to the death. lol -

You never asked anything. You just scoffed at the idea that Wilks is instilling a winning culture. You won't see it because it goes against your agenda. The only ppl who care who we beat are the ones with an agenda. We beat who we played. You want a shiny new Offense. The hell with what is being built now. Sounds like you care more about your wants, than the what the Panthers are building. You may get your wish. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Now you are an expert on the Seahawks Offensive scheme as well. Man, you wear a lot of hats. Burns had a TE on him all day. No matter which side he lined up. They must have run 2 TE sets all day long. Hey look @mrcompletely11another post you can poo. I'm going to post so many posts you will run out of pie. -
Now you are just being obtuse. This team is winning games. That is how you build a winning culture. The past means absolutely squat right now. Wilks has this team believing in itself. That is how. And you are the one who said "I want that shiney new Offense'. You are not getting that without tearing things down and starting over. That is not going to happen. You are so fixated on what you want. You are missing out on what's actually happening. Edit to add; Good teams lose OCs all the time. And they can remain good teams. Having a replacement OC on staff that can learn from the present one, then take over when he leaves is not out of the question.

lol ain't that the truth. -
3 paragraphs and they all say the same thing. Wilks is a clone, and you want something new. First. We are just now figuring out who Wilks is. It is FAR too early to call him a Rivera clone. You are making a huge assumption. Second. We are finally building a winning culture. And you want to tear it down and start over? That's a bold strategy Cotton. I'm sorry. You are not going to get a lot of traction with this line of thinking right now. However, if we lose out. You may get your wish. I think I know what side you'll be on.

Seattle put a TE over Burns all day yesterday. Whichever side he went. Boom, there was a TE there to greet him. -
So it all comes down to you wanting something new. And you use Wilks being a Rivera, or Fox clone to prove your point? So, it won't matter what Wilks does the rest of the year, cuz you'll still want something new. There are plenty of Defensive HC who have had success. We don't actually have to have an Offensive coach to have success. It's just that everybody wants something new. There are plenty of ways to have success in the NFL. But having a quality HC is job 1. And we seem to have that one under control.
