  1. Pretty sure you're thinking of Matt MilleN, who is a different person than Matt MilleR lol. Matt Miller joined ESPN last year from Bleacher Report: https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2022/02/matt-miller-returns-to-espn-as-nfl-draft-analyst-adding-more-robust-coverage-to-espn-premium-editorial-content/
  2. Matt Miller's latest ESPN mock posted today has him falling to Carolina at 9 One can only hope...
  3. This is why I think Arizona is a much better potential trade partner than Chicago. Chicago likely trades down with either Houston or Indy (division rivals so can see Houston trading up to #1 to ensure they get the guy they want). Chicago settles in at 2 or 4. Panthers can see who goes top 2 and if the guy they really want (I feel like that's Stroud) is there at 3, then they make their move. Teams typically get ~200 points above value when trading down, so #9, #93 and the 24 1st (slotting it as a mid-first round pick) would be a fair deal IMO. Maybe throw in a pick swap as well (i.e. Panthers 2024 2nd for Cardinals 2024 3rd).
  4. I don't know what Dennis Allen is doing? Their pass defense was by far the best part of that team and they've essentially gutted that staff to bring in a guy the Browns fired because their defense was trash?
  5. One of the big positives that led Evero to taking this job was apparently the ability to build his own staff on the defensive side of the ball. I wouldn't be surprised to see some folks from Denver join him. Also given Capers was a senior defensive assistant on Denver's staff last season and his ties to the franchise, wouldn't be surprised to see him come back here in that same role.
  6. Not to rag on Joe, but I learned way more from Breer's report than I did Joe's. Joe's was essentially a summary of the process that didn't really have any true insight/nuggets? All of the things in that article were already reported by others. It was basically an aggregation of previous reports with some on the record quotes interspersed. Breer's had real insight into the process, like how the initial list of candidates after Rhule was fired were Caldwell, Johnson, Kafka, Steichen, and Wilks. Very interesting that Kafka and Johnson were already on Tepper's radar that early and that some sort of TV report is what made the Panthers put more work into looking into Reich. It was also interesting to read that having interviewed Caldwell, Wilks, and Reich first, the young OCs appeared to be really green and made Tepper doubt his initial inclination to go with a hot shot young coordinator. That Tepper held a vote and abstained to see if his inkling on Reich was where everyone else was leaning. Great tidbits.
  7. This is incorrect. Snow played mostly 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 fronts which are both more closely aligned with the 3-4 than the 4-3. Once Wilks and Holcomb took over, they reverted to a traditional 4-3 and lo and behold, the defense fell off after that.
  8. You can find serviceable space eater NTs for a 3-4 in FA and the draft fairly easily. Brown I think will do much better as a 3-4 DE than a 4-3 DT. Burns, Barno, Haynes are tailor made as 3-4 OLBs. As others mentioned, re-signing Anderson as a 3-4 DE makes sense as well. I think the personnel is much more suited to 3-4 than 4-3 on the whole. Need to rebuild DL depth and find a ballhawk FS, but besides that, think we're pretty decently set-up for the shift.
  9. I’m sure Reich is happy to have Evero on staff. Case in point:
  10. Definitely think Reich's OC is on the Eagles staff, whether it's Johnson, Patullo, or Michael.
  11. He was released from his contract anyway so don't think they'd be eligible for comp picks
  12. I think there's a reason he's interviewing/being mentioned for OC jobs in places like Washington under a defensive HC - he wants to show his playcalling chops to try to leverage that into a true HC gig. I don't think he's gonna move from one offensive HC to another.
  13. I only did the first 3 rounds, but this would be nice:
  14. You get to ~$18m in cap space by doing base salary restructures of Moore and Moton (pushing their 2023 salary to the vet minimum and turning the rest into a signing bonus that is spread over the remaining years on the contract), and cutting Elflein, Wilson, and Gonzalez. After that, I think doing a short-term extension to bring Shaq's cap number down and extending Burns will probably get the Panthers to north of $30-35m in cap space this year. In FA, I'd re-sign Bozeman and Pinero, go after a TE (Schultz/Engram/Gesicki), a vet RB on a cheap deal (either resign Foreman or maybe bring in Jamaal Williams since Staley worked with him), a bridge QB for a rookie (Brissett makes sense to me), and maybe see if we can get a good edge rusher to complement Burns (I'd love Javon Hargrave but he may be too rich for the Panthers). Draft a rookie QB and slot/burner WR and some defensive pieces (LB, S).
  15. Wow that’s first time HC $ edit: I think McDaniel's contract was for 4 years and an estimated $3.5-4.5m per, so he's essentially on the same contract as his DC now.
  16. I swear I saw somewhere that Wilks wasn’t under contract but I can’t find it now so maybe we would get a comp pick ?
  17. Actually I don’t believe we would because I think Wilks is no longer under contract with the Panthers and thus free to leave/not a loss for Carolina
  18. While I think Richard would make a great DC, I’m starting to think the Richard and Manuel interviews were to satisfy the Rooney Rule so they could pounce on Fangio. Now that he’s likely headed elsewhere, I think they’ll bring in other candidates and do a more thorough search.
