You know it is possible for your two things to be true, and also for Bryce not helping the situation being true as well. XL was open a lot, not seen or at least targeted, and there were some poorly placed balls in the mix. I don’t see a soul defending or denying XL’s mental lapses which in a broad sense can include just about every mistake he made. The brain dead penalties and sideline stuff, right along with his drops. He failed the test in 2025. He was demoted with good reason. I don’t see anyone arguing against that.

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff

I guess he is a guy who was okay calling the heave it up for grabs strategy, where Wilson’s ducks flew high and free in the fall afternoon air. If XL stays, that could be a way to use him with this QB. Or the other guys could do the same…. but just for me, that is how I expected them to use XL when he was drafted. -

I don’t know how you know, it could be both Canales and Morgan. But it speaks well of Dan I think, I smell some awareness that there is an issue around Canales’ wearing all these hats. Unless Canales went to him and did the mea culpa, I would think Dan had a candid discussion with Dave and Dave, to his credit, saw the issue too. Was it, “hey Bevell is out there on the vine right now for the taking, can he help us?”, or was it “we both agree we need help in this department, who could we get?”? -
Who is going to take a shot at Malik Willis

What’s that saying? Wish in one hand and spit in another, see which one fills up faster? I bet there are a lot of us that wish we would seriously look at that option. And others But when you get into 50mil contract talk that dims my enthusiasm for that particular one. That would be taking a real expensive shot in the dark. -
Yes I was. And I have clearly said I expect them to be tough on him. I couldn’t remember the exempt list, they put Hardy on that for quite some time if I recall. Well yeah I have said the NFL was tougher than the legal system historically and I only offered it up as a possible argument his side could use. I can’t think of anything else they could try. (I wasn’t advocating for him). Heck I said way back this is worse than what Hardy did, not defending Hardy this is just that poo on steroids.

Been more than one example of that too. And the calls that went in for those last 4 plays… that happened once before last year too. I want to say one of those Saints games but it might have been early on with the comeback falling short vs Az. I could swear we have seen that before. You know, thinking about it, and where Canales is in his development, the best thing might be to get a proven guy upstairs and have him call the plays while Canales focuses of getting the other parts of his job working right and being more comfortable where some things become second nature. If we had a good couple of year run like that the OC could probably leave for a promotion and Canales might be in a better position to handle it. I am 50/50 on Canales, maybe 60/40. It seems to me that you lose something not seeing the field as well as you do from upstairs. And you can’t HC from upstairs. -
Also, one argument Pearce’s side could make, don't know if would fly, is if the league suspends him before he has his day in court, they would be negatively impacting his ability to hire the best defense attorneys he could hire. (Loss of income) And that a suspension should only be implemented after a guilty verdict or plea. I don’t think that will work.

The league has been very tough on those issues, when their hand has been forced. They tried to sweep Ray Rice under the carpet at first. But even pansy ass Goodell has been tougher than the US legal system on them. He doesn’t really have the presumption of innocence and the constitutional protections to adhere to, nor does he have to contend with juries. And insane, unethical (imo) attorneys. Who don’t seem to be very consistent, let me put it that way. They are easily swayed by dog and pony shows and celebrity lately. I could be surprised but I expect the guy to have a better shot with the justice system than with the league. Better a Falcon in that seat than a Panther, for sure. Blank got hosed by Fontenot and to maybe a lesser degree, Morris. There were some truly boneheaded decisions made by that regime. (bless their hearts).

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff

Yeah there is a lot of slack that if tightened up would possibly get us up a level. Just getting us out of suffering from the obvious oversights, could make a game or difference in the end. -

I am not all knowing for sure but I don’t see how Idzik advances professionally without being a legit OC and handling the entirety of the job description. Which he lacks to this point. And can’t get with Bevell in the mix, I don’t believe. He may have to look elsewhere for a path to advancement. -

Wise move: yeah. And unexpected. It was hard to see how to navigate the situation to where If they feel like Canales should be relieved of the play calling burden they have a legit person to give it to. Because to this point, they didn’t. And they did it without firing Idzik. Who is from a football family background and probably has potential - he just isn’t there yet for the play calling trust. Both the HC and the OC can lean on this man, who has been an interim HC twice himself and a SB OC. It checks a lot of boxes on the surface. And another set of qualified eyes, with an unbiased outside perspective, evaluating the QB situation seems like a good thing as well. -
Good lord I have tried to say okay we’ll see but that apparently isn’t good enough for you. I am done with you on this. They have to defend the indefensible. See what they do. They only so many ways I can parse what these attorneys do in these modern times we are in. And if you can’t see it, I can’t see it for you.

Well, they now have a person they could credibly reassign play calling to, if it becomes an issue that rises to the level where that type of move is being called for. He is the guy that called the Malcom Butler pass play at the goal line in the SB. Which will live in infamy. -
Wow. That’s kind of out of nowhere for me. Seattle connection I guess.

The 2015 team was good enough that people could know what was coming and we would still be successful. It was so much fun to watch. I don’t remember if Cam’s “oh you been watching film? Well watch this” comment is from that season but it should have been. Best thing he ever said too. That I heard. I think it was simple. We were the better team on the field all season and on paper for that Super Bowl. But we went in overconfident, got smacked in the mouth, and didn’t respond for whatever reason, like we needed to. Add some unfavorable calls, put it in the books.

People don’t seem to get that I am not defending this guy or impugning the victim or the police (outside of that photo lol), but that I am pointing out the sad state of the legal process and low ethics of attorneys these days. I am not arguing facts of the case, and am pointing that these ambulance chasers disregard facts and make up these narratives because sucker juries sometimes have such great biases that they nullify. The attorneys go for their Hail Marys and it happens nearly every damned week in the news. With a judge or a DA not charging, releasing, and juries ignoring the law because they take a side on an issue. It is a common and predictable game plan and I am saying don’t be surprised at the absurdities these attorneys try to pass off as reality. The popular strategy is turn the criminal into the victim. Facts never get in the way of these fugers arguing for bullshit when it comes to the police. Who I am not a fan of and don’t trust fwiw but all you have to do is observe and you will see them do it. As far as punishment, the league has been less lenient than judges in most of these cases. So I expect them to drop the hammer. Actually I might have been pondering how a guy with millions of his own and a big time fancy car throws it all away on LaWanda.

strato replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Okay thanks cool. Reading your post it’s coming back to me, but I should refresh my familiarity before I start ranting at why would we have been chasing a guy with that on his record and facing a suspension… The stuff about how it would or would not affect his contract can go for any team… in this case the Texans. It is more a wondering at why people that break basically what would be called a morals clause are not impacted contractually. -

strato replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I would say if they had an out they would obviously have taken it. Just seems like these big deals should have some clauses in them for criminal type behavior. I guess his exposure was civil more than criminal…. the victims more interested in settlement money than seeing him punished with a conviction. Like I said I haven’t really followed and I guess I am saying it a shame he still gets paid out on that deal. That the team has to give it up, and that he profits so much from doing harm. -
Morgan and Schoen are buds, socially. Beane too. So looking at NYG as a trading partner makes some sense. I think his history with Seattle could include them as well. If anyone is getting scapegoated in Buffalo we might could get a good deal. I haven’t really followed the Bills but they will have a new DC I think. So some change there is maybe an opportunity.

I haven’t followed the tawdry tale of Watson and his massage therapy, basically at all. Being ignorant, I have to wonder how that stuff doesn’t relieve his employers from their financial obligations. Seems like that is a ‘for cause’ scenario. -
Official Carolina Huddle Super Bowl LX Thread

yeah. He would have had to have one of those 4 pick outings to overcome their advantages. But we have seen that happen. I looked at his stats mid 2nd qtr, they were not good. -
Crosby and a stud ILB would ramp this defense way up. It’s Luke’s HOF induction year, he is a symbol for what we lack. We need to get in touch with our history and seriously address that position again.
