  1. If they put Darnold in the same situation as they build for Young, and then add the pieces that are the difference in cost for the two and invest that back into the roster on top of what has been recently added? Ain’t a soul but Bryce Young hims-elf changing my mind about that.
  2. Exactly. Good poo is expensive. Any thing you do, if you want to outfit yourself for it, I don’t think you can go wrong doing the buy once pay once thing. If you are good at it and keep your eyes open you can find cheaper subsitutes that you may be equally happy with using but that takes know how. Getting quality out of the gate, paying once, is rarely a mistake. edit: so make sure about Brown.
  3. I see the point of that is phuck trading up to one for a QB. Too risky. Too expensive. Get good at figuring out what you need in a QB and find it elsewhere.
  4. This is perspective and I think Canales’ dad was a shrink. His description of this lack of urgency which we see is ‘cold blooded’. Not excited just surgical. Also, the 1 of 11 while a smart way to go, is also a pretty big smoke job probably intended to take pressure off of the QB., But which is it? I don’t think we were looking at cold blooded killer last year. Maybe he can kill something, but he is up against a lot. I am going to have to defend him somewhat on the leadership though because it was his first season and his play was not strong enough for him to start putting people on notice or any talk at all. And his voice... and he looks like a kid. It would probably hurt him more than help him in to be rah rah in that situation. Just grind.
  5. It is fine to pay him a good contract but he needs to earn it. They have to pay somebody in ’25. He needs to fit and show he is that guy, in this offense. If he doesn’t, stick.. I know he is talented, but that would shift the perception of players, in regards to coming to Carolina. A great year for this guy probably means a great year for the team. A reversal of trajectory. Maybe another guy who is blocked but really good, gets another prove it deal. What do we know about him as far as holding up mentally physically over 17 games? Let’s find out.
  6. This is those radio talk guys that are the sports equivalent of shock jocks. Just engineering an argument to get eyes and ears. I’m not even listening to that. I know the answer and it is no. If he has a great year he will probably want to stick. If he leaves his great year attracts another guy that wants one.
  7. Wow, it’s like he didn’t even watch film to inform his opinions.
  8. You don’t know if Clowney talked with other people on the team and was told things... but even if not it doesn’t take a long time to see this about Young.
  9. There ya go, Oakland probably beats Charlotte out easily. If only Charlotte had a perennial .400 MLB franchise that could furnish the large market teams with proven MLB players.
  10. Some people are gonna be so mad with that arm strength description. I agree with it, and feel we are hamstrung by limitations and it will require much extra effort and investment to prop him up. The opposite of how he was sold by the organization and the media. The hitch is exactly what I saw when I looked at his film. It is right there for all to see at his pro day. Probably still online. It is just there if you look, it isn’t something I made up for some made up reason like oh that means I hate Bryce Young (people today are so freaking dramatic).
  11. Are you guys trying to say that the Cam ‘haters’ exactly mirror the Darnold ‘lovers”? Same people? I don’t think that is it at all. I think it is more likely to be different people, probably with some overlap. This racism thing, when most of the team and league is Black and people are big fans of plenty of Black players, but have football issues with one or two and that makes them a racist? I don’t understand that at all. I will tell you also, Sam Darnold at the price he would have cost, and all that cost invested in other areas plus we’d have DJ Moore, was a far better option than what they did.
  12. Definitely in the running. I’d probably go Oakland. Lost football, seriously crappy baseball team. They have Golden State Warriors I guess.
  13. The more things change the more they stay the same. You have to be balanced. You have to be able to run to be balanced. It is that simple. Who would disagree? First, I am consistently against 1st round RBs and favor the 3rd or later, but again, this is small stuff in the big picture (compared to the sunk costs of Super Bryce) and we don’t know if they are right or wrong at this point. A large part of the focus is helping this quarterback... and boy y'all want to talk overdrafting and overpaying? This is miniscule compared to that. These coaches are under a lot of pressure to make the team work WITH THIS QB. WTF would you do? I think if you get it and want to keep your job all season, you have to take that running game very seriously.
  14. NFL slaps wrist lightly, declares punishment just, matter closed. Wink wink.
  15. Best thing Tepper could do would be build a huge mental health facility that would treat the crazy people in this country. That are not being served. Which impacts the rest of us. The homeless stuff has a base of those types. I’ll stop there.
  16. I think this is the baby step year. Get him in, get him straight with his playbook and blocking assignments, see what he can do, then we get an offseason of manning up NFL style. I think he’ll play a bit heavier and stronger in 2025. I didn’t realize he is only 20, he is not finished growing and maturing into a man. The RB cliff is either x amount of hits/carries or it is 30, I’m not sure which. I do see that he is ahead of the game in both years and mileage. If they repaired him properly and he is what they think, just give it some time.
  17. There is something to player development being affected by coaching staff instability. That isn’t a fantasy. It has to be a factor. It was a factor. We don’t know much about much because it was just this churn of players from recent drafts not being the new coach’s ‘guy’. It is a different value system every other year or maybe twice in the same year and lately an annual thing, every time changing the fundamentals of your evaluations and also what is being taught. This isn’t me saying Fitterer or whoever made those calls on which players to draft/sign/release/trade/not trade, wasn’t bad. I think I am saying that dysfunction breeds malfunction and the ideal is a focused and aligned staff for multiple years to see if you can grow players. Consistency, stability, probably what the team needs.
  18. I saw one of these radio blowhards' youtube where they were saying, I know it isn’t real football and just shorts, but you can tell. He was making his point based on the WRs aren’t affected so much by non contact as their thing mostly involves body positioning and hand fighting. What he totally forgets is when the pads come on and the speed increases it affects the guy throwing the ball. Everybody looks great in shorts, you can’t tell until the contact starts and the speed picks up.
  19. Look this is getting ridiculously speculative. I posted something about this because I had never heard it and it was interesting; an article concerning John Lynch and I think it was about him. A part of it was him basically saying Navarro wanted to hire him to help get the team together if he won his bid. I can’t find it with a quick search online but I posted about it here and not that long ago maybe two or three months. Somebody probably remembers it. This was before Lynch was hired in SF. I don’t think that makes Navarro sound bad at all. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked out, maybe it would. OTOH, if Tepper had beern intelligent enough to identify Lynch, he probably would have found a way to phuck it up.
  20. We do have a 2nd next year left over from all that. If this guy is legit I don’t mind him missing the first few games. It is a long season. I wanted a top C too but just didn’t think it was a thing they were going to do so I guess I am not that frustrated over it. Edge rusher would’ve been nice but what was there I don’t remember.
  21. We need a drink throwing emoji - a drink flying through the air maybe with wings
  22. It doesn’t have to be about Darnold vs all time good QBs it is about probably better level of play - for so fuging much less expenditure - in 2023 and maybe 2024 while the team gets built and with more assets in house due to not squandering them to move up. I mean damn we were 2-15, how much worse do you think we would have finished? I was always against that trade up, always will be probably. They don’t trade the pick when a bona fide generational prospect is there. I mean, they had Fields, and stood pat with that over Bryce. And CJ lol. But at least they got paid to pass.
  23. That hitch thing is what I saw right off. (I called it a skip step, but it is more an extra move). When the lesser velocity of his ball is added to whatever slight delay that hitch triggers, you could be looking at measurable additional time for the ball to be at the target. Just a split second makes a difference at that level. That’s what he has to somehow resolve. By just great timing and anticipation, in the best case. But worse case, you have those balls slightly behind, they get defended or picked just by giving defenders that margin. That was my issue all along. There are plenty of things he can do well and, especially, the more open the targets can get the more margin he can use. It is just, harder for that guy than it would be for the same guy in a proto body.
  24. Answer or not. What about Darnold is not an upgrade from what we saw our QB do last year?
