That's a nice thought. Show me how with this bunch. All you can do is try and slow them down. I think a couple of weeks back we gave up a 35 second drive and an under a minute drive, back to back. I don't think there is anything to win with here. We have one or two players on defense that you could win with.

No, we skipped last year. It is time to start throwing some later round spaghetti against the wall to see if it sticks. I wanted Rattler, for example. He went in the 5th. He looked better than a 5th round pick for the most part in his first game. They solved him pretty well but the idea is not to take a 5th round flier and throw him out there like a 1st rounder. He needs to be slow cooked. A season or two in the league sitting and adapting might yield better results.

Yeah I always go to Kamara vs CMC in their draft. Was CMC like, 8th overall? Kamara was 3rd round (67th overall). He is no CMC but outperformed him the first season and I don't want to look up the rest of it but he is still playing. Kamara, seems like a thug type to me or maybe just not that bright and I prefer to avoid that, but he can play.

I am enjoying this debate. I am just going to say, the offense needs to be as balanced as you can make it. When you are good at the passing game and good at the running game, you can do what is necessary. Falcons seem to be there. What will generally not work is running with no passing. It is done to set up the pass. So you have it set up, and won't pass? That's not ideal either. Or, you do pass but fug it up. It is generally execution anyway. Whatever the play call, no execution = failed play. The whole thing with Bryce was run, pass, no difference. Stack the box bring everybody up like it is a run every time.

Interesting take on Evero and why no change in scheme
strato replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I noticed something from watching these 'pundits'. Which is how many of the topics I see here are inspired by the beat writers and these radio people. I don't follow them a lot so often don't notice and when I do look, I see it... "oh that is where that came from". -
Everybody is talking about resigning Chuba Hubbard or Diontae Johnson
strato replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
We need to get Brooks into the mix so we can see how badly we need Chuba. He has two ACLs and has only torn one... just saying. We don't know until we know, and all kinds of bad stuff has played out before. So let's get some trust established with him, or not, and then maybe the Chuba situation becomes clearer. -
Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 6 loss to Falcons

Worst case he becomes a very versatile super sub. Yeah, Nijman... next. I thought he was THE OL liability on that day. -
Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)
strato replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd take a trade down a few slots followed by a trade back into the late 1st for someone they really like. That is the kind of trade up I can deal with. Just no trading future assets, you lose me 100% doing that stuff. It is my trigger point on a GM. I might be okay doing a trade that gets us some ammo for 2026, depending. On other teams outsucking us, I wish that could be decided head to head instead of this SOS stuff because they could outsuck us there. -
The Wilks 'era' was the high point of 7 years of ownership. fug projecting him as a crap coach, we saw results that overshadow all other coaches in the Tepper 'era'. That is indisputable. A fact. We would about kill for that now. And I am 90% positive on Canales, fwiw. I like him as the HC. See a way forward with him. We'll see.

Compare a top ten pick with number 75 or whatever, it usually won't be a win for old 75. It likely won't be a win for old 32 over the 6th pick. Or the 4th or the 9th even. (Legette, how do we judge his first two games? Throw them out for me. McConkey picked right after, has 6 more catches, a few more yards, same TD production, fwiw) People comparing Sanders to Olsen, and Wallace to Luke, just is not that fair. And I do not endorse this as being a parallel comp but Luke wasn't Luke his first year. I mean I'm not saying Wallace becomes that, just that he should improve from this year. And in season, I hope to see improvement and maturity. --- I promise you though, Luke would not have been smiling right after the D gave up 38 points like Wallace was. And he did that poo last week too. That is troublesome to me.

I may change their nickname to spams at this point but I was putting Tepper in that category. It has been brutal if you are a person who saw it from the jump. Like before the draft.

Panthers Draft Pick Status (Week 7)
strato replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
That strength of schedule is real volatile right now, and I guess those latter teams are there because they will affect that somehow. We'll have a fairly strong top of our division it looks like, how many weak sisters do we play? NYG. Maybe the Saints can drag out SOS down and maybe Dallas, but we are going to have to lose to them head to head. -

Just take 2 players and zoom in, never mind the other deficiencies; when you have a 3rd round rookie and whatever Cherilus is, thrown in there green plus has to make the calls and line people up you have the blind leading the blind. What the hell can you do about it, you have to field a team or forfeit. -
Good point, it is definitely a possibility not to be dismissed. I sure hope not. But, you have the coup de gras of Dalton showing what Young is not, immediately without hesitation and in living ginger color. No one could miss that. No one. The only recourse at that point for a stan, is the Panthers ruined him. Because he very obviously can't hold a candle to a journeyman NFL QB, and there must be a reason - right? Yeah that's it, they ruined him.
-
I guess you haven't noticed that the board is toxic towards everything almost. The defense, irrationally attacked for being all they can be lol. Yeah they are bad. Morgan, Canales, the draft picks, the new analytical guy even, all targets of toxicity and you can find it running through these discussions. As far as Bryce Young, we have fuging suffered enough. Time for him to be put out of our misery. Pound for pound dollar for dollar, who has ever been worse for such a long time? That's a very short list at best.
-
Those passing charts with the 12 yard rectangle are death for him. 12 yards is being generous because iirc there were only a couple past 10. Those were the 'deep' throws lol. Easiest argument ender ever is when you have Dalton in the exact same offensive unit he next week and what happened, happened.
-
I forget what I read but it was some skeptical stuff I read somewhere, I haven't done any tape watching or anything myself. Won't until the season is done. So call me lazy... and combine that with the crap that Young is 204 pounds and that probably every one of them is inaccurately listed by their school.
-
Two or three still plugging away here if they think the coast is clear - like when some writer trolls everybody. And the 'Carolina ruined him' is something they think they can fall back to as a last resort. ... But it is untrue as well. I couldn't think of how to prove he wasn't but I am not the smartest guy around. I can read though... and I heard a good one from a youtube fan. It was "well, he got ruined after the Green Bay game then, I guess." 13 games of being ruined just to shake it off like it never happened? Right. Nope, not ruined then. So damn, it must have been those final two games and the 2024 training camp that did it? Okay....
-
It was all because of Young. Propping him up with ‘the best’ pass catching RB in the class - for that 12 yard passing zone Bryce owns like no one else. Every freaking thing they did was ham fisted overkill aimed at eliminating all excuses. Not advocating or defending it, just trying to reason out the why. There actually is a chance he will be really really good.

Someone was saying the really wanted Lock.

Also, since this is the game thread I’ll put this here about Wallace. Help me out. Am I the only one that watches his post game videos and get the impression that he is happier than he should be after having his ass handed to him where the defense gave up 38 points? Because that is what he seems like. Totally fine, not pissed off, is what I see. Like it was good enough. Two weeks in a row it is like that. Someone tell me that he actually is pissed and not just fuging happy to get a paycheck win or lose, and I am misinterpreting his demeanor. Say it with a straight face.

He held out? Lol. I am still confused with all this high finance and the cap rules. It accelerates immediately to our cap except whatever future salary he is due, right? And we are in for 2 more years of the prorated bonus. This year’s signing bonus portion is already accounted for in the cap but then we have to take 6.15 more on this year and 6 .15 next year or would it be all 12, subject maybe to deferment with the June 1st. If we trade him the salary and roster bonuses go with him, right? He is not yet a vested vet so he has to clear waivers if we want to just dump him, wouldn’t he? Can’t unconditionally release him can we? Heh - that little fuger has us over a barrel coming and going. lol again, has a number one overall pick ever been waived in year two?

If We Don't Win Another Game. Do We Make Any Trades??
strato replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
With you excluding you know who. He needs to go anywhere else, for any return or no return. What is the point of having him in a competition he can’t win? Tank his value further. Maybe. Let him prove someone else wrong. -
It was a Jets home game with the refs helping them some and the interim coach bump in play. The better team won somehow.
