  1. Yeah, honestly this isn't great news for us. I mean, it's completely expected since Miami was a pretty good team with shoddy QB play last year and NY is reportedly Watson's preferred destination, but both of those teams have far better trade bait to offer than we do.
  2. For some reason we thought he could be more than he's shown throughout his career. Everyone talks about his stint with the Saints last year but minus that 4 TD game against the Bucs' worst in the league pass D he pretty much looked like he's always looked.
  3. Nothing. I'm just saying they have Tua to offer and they have the #3 overall pick guaranteeing at worst the 3rd QB off the board this year. They simply have more and better options to offer than we do.
  4. If we don't get a QB this off-season it's Howell or bust next year.
  5. Wilson alone doesn't make us a contender. We'd still need to build an OL and a secondary. By the time we do that Wilson could be on the decline.
  6. I can't do that for a 32 year old. Sure, some QBs play very well into their late 30s and a rare few play well into their early 40s, but eh...
  7. It seems like such a bad idea to cancel the Combine. Honestly, the better idea IMO would've been to have the Combine and cancel the pro days. Now you're going to have coaches, scouts, and GMs flying all over the place to evaluate prospects instead of heading to one location where the NFL could've out everyone in a bubble and controlled the situation far better.
  8. I think Minshew can "win" here in terms of competing for winning seasons and playoff berths I'm just not at all sold that we could accomplish much more than that with him at QB unless we build one helluva dominant D.
  9. Tepper was making non-committal comments regarding Cam from the moment he bought the team.
  10. This. I don't care about compensation because I just want out of the contract and trading him is better than cutting him in that regard.
  11. I don't know if it was any "intimidation", but it did seem like Tepper was already set in going a different direction at QB the moment he bought the team. I think Tepper just wanted to put his stamp on the organization and as long as Cam was the face of the team it wasn't gonna be Tepper's team.
  12. I haven't made up my mind on Fields but if the organization thinks he's worth it then so be it. That move would almost certainly be putting their jobs on the line if it didn't work out so they'd have to be VERY sold. I'm in if they're in.
  13. The biggest knock on any trade package we can offer is that it doesn't include an answer at QB. They shouldn't want Teddy and one reason why we're likely so desperate to trade for Watson is that #8 looks to likely be on the outside looking in on the top QB prospects in this year's draft. The Jets and Dolphins not only have young QBs with potential upside to offer, they also have a pick that is guaranteed to be able to secure one of the top QB prospects in this year's draft if that's the direction the Texans want to go.
  14. Honestly, giving up 1st rounders concerns me a lot less than giving up guys like Burns, Brown, and/or Chinn who have shown to be very promising young players still on cheap rookie contracts.
  15. Yep. These posts talking about how Watson's value may be decreasing with time simply aren't realistic. He's a 25 year old MVP caliber QB. Those guys never become available. When it comes time to move him, the haul is gonna be insane. Denver trading Cutler to Chicago is probably the closest comparison I can think of to Watson potentially being traded, but Cutler was nowhere near Watson's level. Cutler was probably a borderline top 10 QB at the time who showed the potential to be more. He went for two 1sts, a 3rd, and Kyle Orton who was a serviceable starting QB.
  16. And he very well may. I'm just saying that I don't think there are many if any blockbuster deals whether it's a trade, big FA signing, or big extension that are made in a vacuum entirely excluding the input of the guy signing the checks.
  17. I honestly don't think there are many situations where the owner isn't involved to some degree when you're talking about mortgaging the future of the franchise. Could you imagine owning an NFL team and waking up to find out via Twitter that your franchise just traded it's next three first round picks? I mean, yikes. That just doesn't seem realistic at all.
  18. There may be no decision as it could essentially be made for us. If you throw everything you have into an offer for Watson and/or a trade up the draft board and don't get any takers, what else could you do? I have to think Tepper is likely involved in the process so if even he is like "Eh... we can't do anymore than THAT" on these offers then it is what it is. Honestly, in that situation, I think the only options we'd have left are of the Minshew trade or Trubisky signing variety.
  19. I would literally trade him for anything. Conditional 7th rounder two years from now? Sweet! Deal!
  20. It depends on just how limited those aspects are. If you don't have the physical ability to execute, it doesn't matter how great your mental skills are. Maybe you'll make a good coach, but you're never going to make a good player.
  21. There's a reason why we're so fixated on Watson. We're basically sitting in a spot where we're going to have to trade the farm to land a QB so we might as well trade it for an established MVP caliber QB rather than rolling the dice on trading for a pick to draft a rookie. Honestly, it's looking more and more like we're not likely to land the answer this off-season. We're going to end up with a Minshew or Trubisky and we'll likely be having this conversation next year about Howell, Rattler, and Shough.
  22. If/when the Texans end up trading Watson I'm gonna ban you for months of one dimensional poo posting.
  23. Imagine being some poo ass kid who will probably never play a down of football beyond HS talking poo to a former NFL MVP. Good grief.
