  1. If Mayfield plays well enough to get this team (and staff) to the playoffs then he's the real deal.
  2. Colin Thompson probably isn't wrong. Rhule and his process just have not translated well at all to the NFL. Hell, we don't even know if it would translate at the contender level of college football. His record against top 25 teams was abysmal. I mean, let's be honest. If you're a fan of a powerhouse college team would you be excited if you had a HC opening and Matt Rhule was the hire? I wouldn't.
  3. All depends on how Mayfield looks this year.
  4. Spoiler alert... What he doesn't know: how to run an NFL team.
  5. I had no idea that the GOAT snowboarder Travis Rice packed on 100 pounds and changed his name to Pat Elflein and started playing football. It's uncanny how much these dudes look alike. They even sound alike with similar voice patterns and mannerisms. Twilight Zone poo.
  6. I would be so hopeful right now about our future if I had any confidence in our coach. Because you're right in terms of the overall environment in the NFC South.
  7. Big banks are by and large pretty awful organizations but Wells Fargo is basically a fuging criminal operation.
  8. A 2nd rounder that Marty Hurney loved... well, fug. If that ain't the kiss of death.
  9. $1.3M this year, $1.6M next year. $0 guaranteed. I very seriously doubt any teams balked at those numbers. If anything, it's a bonus if you like his potential.
  10. A 6th and 7th isn't much of a "bidding war".
  11. 7-10 Clean house. Mayfield shows enough to get a prove it contract elsewhere and we move on. Sam Darnold opens a Dumb & Dumber themed worm store in Aspen.
  12. I liked him in the draft and I'm still intrigued. But the trade value pretty much says the NFL has all but given up on him. I hope we can find a way to maximize his abilities.
  13. 23 touches for 89 yards for 3.9 yards per touch average isn't exactly inspiring production out of the backfield.
  14. Maye and the freshman RBs looked like the real deal. The D didn't look one but improved and if anything looks like it may be even worse which is hard to imagine. Dre Bly is one helluva recruiter but I have no idea what he offers as a position coach. We land a lot of good secondary recruits and somehow they all look like they've never played football before once they suit up for UNC. Baffling.
  15. You gotta ado what you gotta do to get to that spot that you need to protect yourself first, if that makes sense.
  16. I wish we still had him. We could use him for our DL depth. I'm not supremely confident there.
  17. Mayock was brought in by Jon Gruden for one reason - to be Jon Gruden's lapdog.
  18. I really think (maybe just hopium) that he'll be supplanted by someone we out of the NFL's garbage bin.
  19. Joe Burrow was the #1 overall pick. Sam Howell was bafflingly a 5th rounder trying to prove he deserves the nod when Wentz inevitably gets hurt. I expect Heinicke to be the #2. I expect Howell to get a shot if Wentz struggles or gets hurt for an extended period. I don't think you want to put your rookie on a position to potentially have to come in off the bench cold mid-game.
  20. Looks just like UNC football last year. Constantly something out of nothing.
  21. I said "maybe both". I wouldn't expect it to be both but I don't rule it out. What if they've decided to cut bait on TMJ and then they get a trade offer on Robby they can't refuse? We'd still have DJ, Shenault, Shi Smith, Higgins, and Zylstra (assuming Higgins and Zylstra are still in the roster, I haven't been following the cuts). Would it really be that hard to find a TMJ level replacement on the waiver wire for a 6th WR?
