Did we get rid of CMC to avoid having to use him so much
LinvilleGorge replied to Gipetto's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's. Not. About. This. Season. McAdoo is gonna be gone. It's simply about getting draft capital for the rebuild. -

No. We got rid of him because the draft capital is more valuable to our rebuild efforts than a big money RB. These moves aren't about this season. We look like we're actually developing a true rebuild mentality instead of just talking about it. -
RBs and edge rushers aren't at all comparable in terms of positional value.

This is the thing a lot of people overlook. QBs are generally getting hit by BIG dudes and a lot of the hits are blindside hits and hits where they're in vulnerable positions unable to protect themselves (in the act of throwing a football).
-
That's the thing, I'm not blaming Mayfield. I'm blaming the QB position. Our problem is that all of our QBs suck and so does our offensive scheme. The results of that combination are entirely predictable.
-
When you're #6 in number of pressures allowed and percentage of snaps with pressure allowed and dead last in sacks allowed... yeah, it's QB position.

It's not always about stats. If it was, Mac Jones would've been hands down the #1 overall pick. I think Stroud is a much better prospect than Jones was (I thought Jones was a 3rd round type prospect) but I'm not convinced he's the slam dunk QB1 in this draft. Like I said earlier, Fields honestly looked better at OSU. Still waiting on Stroud to have that signature dominating performance against a top defense like Fields can Clemson. Notre Dame has a very good defense and they made Stroud look pedestrian. He didn't look bad against them but he didn't look like a guy I'm begging to draft at the top of the 1st either.

Bozeman should've been starting all along.

I think a lot of folks are letting our trashiness as a team and organization make them forget just how much the rest of the NFL values legit young pass rushers. Very few guys have more sacks than Brian Burns since he's been in the league. That's gets folks' attention. If you put everyone currently on our roster on the open market, Burns has the highest value.

This. The key positions are QB, pass rusher, OT, WR, CB, and DT. That's just IMO. We have some pretty damn good players at all of those positions except for QB. Deal Burns though and now you're devoid of talent at two of those key spots. Not to mention still having needs among those positions. We still need to find an edge opposite of Burns. A long-term DT beside Brown. A running mate opposite Moore. We have enough needs that moving Burns has to net a MASSIVE haul. Someone would have to come with more than "good" value. We need to commit highway robbery on someone to rationalize the move.

If you're not coming with two 1sts to start the conversation, there's no conversation.

Ron Rivera is playing one of his long-time mediocre vets over a promising young player? I'm shocked. Not like Panthers fans haven't seen that story play out over and over again.

Oregon consistently takes the field in some of the most garish poo imaginable.

For someone who doesn't care about college football, you sure do talk a whole lot about it...

I have a dream that one day people will stop making fools of themselves talking about the draft and "facts".

Yeah, I'm not throwing in the towel on Fields either. But man, Chicago has done a terrible job trying to develop young QBs and put a team around them. It's really looking like Trubisky version 2.0. If you're going to draft QBs who should actually try to build an offense around them. There aren't many Cam Newton's who can rise above it.
-
Fields was a legit top 10 prospect. Not all prospects pan out and Chicago has proven to be one of the worst landing spots for a QB
-
Honestly, Fields was a better prospect.

Shaq is the only guy left that I'd really like to see moved.

I did a week. If you wanna make it permanent it's whatever. Can't say he hasn't earned it with this trollfest he's been on.

I thought @rayzor had banned you but I guess not. Your trolling is out of control.

We traded real assets for the statistically worst starting QB in recent NFL memory. It was absolutely not a good value.
-
That Lance trade has really hamstrung them. They're kinda forced to try to build a roster that can compete for a SB with Jimmy G and honestly that's guys like CMC and Deebo who can create offense on their own. Hell, I can go out there and throw screens to CMC and Deebo.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if a third of our roster hasn't asked for a trade.
