  1. I've never bought a new vehicle and might never buy one. I generally buy low mileage 4-5 year old vehicles and generally pay somewhere between 40-50% original MSRP. My current 2012 4-Runner that I bought with 42k miles on it and currently has 104k miles on it is worth more right now than I paid for it several years ago. Yeah, it's a fuging clown world right now. Definitely sucks to actually NEED to buy right now.
  2. Gotcha. So if you're really good and you live somewhere with local golf courses then you can play for free. Yeah, acknowledged. But how many poor people have that initial exposure to golf? How many underprivileged inner city kids have ANY exposure to golf. There's a reason golf has it's reputation. Same as skiing. There's a huge bias toward toward the wealthy because the poo ain't cheap.
  3. By watching him play football. He's a bad QB floated by a good team and that's why the Niners took a huge gamble to trade a king's ransom to draft a raw non-D1 QB to replace him.
  4. I've traveled all around this country. Charlotte is NOT on this list. I'm not sure it would make a legit top 100.
  5. Baker is one thing. The guy has legit talent and needs a huge ego checking. If we could get him on the very cheap, go for it. Jimmy G? fug that poo. Just let Darnold play the first few games where he's going to look decent before the league gets film on him in our new offense while we frantically get Corral ready to play. Jimmy G is NOT good.
  6. You were able to play free. That is FAR from the norm.
  7. Coaching and QB play are my two biggest concerns by far. Unfortunately, the one thing football related that Tepper has been right about is that you need three things to be consistently competitive in the NFL - a QB, a coach, and a GM. The first is a long shot hope for us in the way of a 3rd round rookie. The second is virtually a confirmed bust. The third is an incomplete grade. So yeah... it's still a significant uphill road ahead of us.
  8. It's Darnold. Hence why we're still sniffing around Baker Mayfield after drafting a QB in the 3rd. Darnold ain't it.
  9. Anyone buying hope on Darnold looking good throwing in OTAs is setting themw loves up for significant disappointment. Throwing the football isn't Darnold's issue. He's a very talented thrower of the football. His problems arise when there's a well prepared defense with a good game plan opposing him. That's when the wheels absolutely fall off and it has nothing to do with his ability to throw a football.
  10. The target audience is rapidly dying off. Does anyone under 80 listen to sports radio?
  11. Golf is expensive. Really expensive. Poor folks need not apply.
  12. You have to have ELITE eye/hand coordination and in today's game good athleticism is becoming more and more important with everyone knocking the ball a mile. I bet there's not many poor folks on college golf teams and hardly any on the PGA.
  13. If they get a look at Corral in mini-camp and it leaves them thinking... "ain't no way this kid is gonna be ready anytime soon" then yeah, I could see it. The thing is that if we pick up the phone to call the Browns after mini-camp, them they know this too. Then again, negotiating from a weak position has kinda been the Panthers' MO for years now.
  14. Yep. The key difference being that Tiger and the Williams sisters had prodigal talent. You gotta win the genetic lottery first. Without winning the genetic lottery all the hard work is for naught. The prodigal talent is going to blow by your years of hard work in a matter of weeks. The kid's idiot dad never really played sports growing up and was (and is) kind a quiet loner. Nothing wrong with that, but it clearly wasn't by choice. He really wanted to be the cool jock so he's overcompensating (he has both a bro'd out diesel truck and a lifted Jeep that never leaves pavement) so he's going to try to make sure his son is that. When idiot dad hears sports announcers talk about so and so being an "average athlete" he's too dumb to realize they mean "average athlete" for a professional athlete which still means "freak genetic mutant" among the population at large.
  15. Even golf leans heavily toward natural talent. The field is just significantly narrowed because you pretty much have to be rich to play enough golf as a youngster to have a chance.
  16. You would think. I grew up with some guys who played D1 ball and a couple who had lengthy pro careers abroad and none of them ever sniffed pro sports in America and they were all mutants. I don't think this kid's dad ever really played sports himself and encountered people who were simply way more physically talented. Just in a different athletic universe. Those are the guys who go on to play D1 sports and maybe have a chance at the pros.
  17. Oh, we know what we have in Sam. We have
  18. Cleveland ain't taking on Sam Darnold. I have no idea who their third option is either but I'd take whoever it is over Sam Darnold and his salary. *Just looked it up, it's Jacoby Brissett. Yes, without a doubt I'm taking Brissett over Darnold.
  19. Call it "the Tepper Effect". Three straight five win seasons kills the optimism of all but the most delusionally optimistic
