Rhule: Moton is the top RT and second LT behind Erving.
LinvilleGorge replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
7-9 wins I think would be good. That would be a step in the right direction. I said when Rhule was hired that based on his history, the first year would be bad. Second year mediocre. In the third year we should be legit ready to make some noise. That's if he follows the same pattern he did at Temple and Baylor. I'm not overly excited about the competitive losses. We all argued that Ron sucked because he couldn't win the close games. Most NFL games are competitive. You have to find a way to win them. -

I want someone to explain to me where this blind faith in Rhule comes from. It's all potential. It's all about the idea that he can build a winning team that can beat good teams. Because so far it hasn't happened. He was 2-16 against ranked competition in college. He was 0-11 at Baylor. 2-5 at Temple. Those two wins coming against a #21 ECU that dropped from the rankings after losing to his Temple team and finished the season 8-5 and unranked and against a #20 Navy team that dropped from the rankings after losing to his Temple team and finished the season 9-5 and unranked. We went 5-11 last year beating zero teams that finished with a winning record with the combined record of the teams we beat being 33-47. From what I can see, Rhule has basically made a living off of beating bad football teams. We hope that he can prove that he can beat good football teams but there's literally zero proof of that thusfar. I like Rhule. I think he can potentially work out. But this blind faith that some seem to have in him is just baffling and I would honestly like to hear what it's based on. -

What opinion did he offer that I missed other than I should change my opinion? -
There is actually a lot of damn good country out there right now. You won't hear it on the radio, but guys like Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Cody Jinks, Colter Wall, Paul Cauthen, Ward Davis, etc. are fuging killing it right now. Honest to god, we might actually be in the golden era of country and most people have no clue.

This. If you haven't gone back and listened to his stuff when he was fronting the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers, do yourself a favor and do that.

Don't reach out to me to complain. I fully support this. Enough is enough. Much to your dismay, your internet "research" has not turned up information that the world's leading medical experts have missed. Spreading of misinformation is why we are in our current situation.

I'm just getting tired of the brigade of posters who spend most of their time complaining that there are opinions that differ from their own. Not voicing their opposing opinions. Simply getting triggered and lashing out at the existence of differing opinions. It's just lazy and unproductive. -

The person constantly complaining about another person's opinions. I have concerns. If you don't like it, keep scrolling. Stop complaining about other people voicing their opinion. Have I been stalking you around the forum complaining about your positivity? I'm not all negative. Our last two draft classes look really positive. I think the D is heading in the right direction. I've been really impressed with Phil Snow so far. There are positive aspects. But yeah, I have some very serious concerns and I'll continue to voice them where it's relevant to the conversation. If that triggers you, just keep scrolling. It's gonna be okay. -

I don't see any strong reason to have a lot of faith in the staff and organization right now. There are still far more questions than known commodities right now IMO. It's just talking football. Try not to be so triggered by other people's opinions. If you don't like hearing concerns, just tune them out and keep scrolling. -

I don't know this staff well enough to predict it. Just stating my concerns. -

This all seems so easy to see. I don't know why the staff is fighting it so hard. Do they expect an All-Pro LT to just fall in their laps during final cuts? Are they just trying to play coy? It's just baffling. -
You always miss the greats.

I didn't take the tornado warning stuff seriously. Just went on about business. I've been gone for years now but I remember growing up here. This area rarely gets extreme weather so they go way overboard when there's even the slightest chance. Breaking news! There's gonna be flurries! Better get your milk and bread! There's a small chance of a very weak, short lived funnel cloud! Take cover now! LOL!

I hope so. The guy is average when healthy and he's rarely healthy. -

So far so good, but I'm not celebrating just yet. Gotta see it translate into Ws. -

Wishful thinking. It's a different ballgame dealing with a draft order and a hard salary cap vs. free for all recruiting. It's a different organizational structure too. The head coach is the king of a college program. The head coach is more like a president of an NFL team. He has a lot of power and control, but not sole authority anymore. -

Gross would've been a HOF RT, but he was a very good LT and a very good LT is still more important than a HOF RT so he played LT. -

College ain't the pros. We see it with great college players trying to make the transition and failing and we've seen it with great college coaches trying to make the transition and failing. Success at the college level doesn't always translate. So yeah, they're very green at the NFL level. -
I hate it for the guy but in a fuged up way this may have been for the best. He didn't look long for the NFL and this will allow him to get world class treatment and rehab for his injury and another season of NFL checks that he honestly didn't look poised to get otherwise. I wish him nothing but the best going forward.

Sorry, I wouldn't be happy spending a 3rd on a guy penciled in as a long-term backup at a position that doesn't rotate. 3rd rounders should be guys you envision on developing into a guy who will at least compete to start. -

I don't know. Whitehead still started 9 games last year while looking like a tackling dummy on the field. Carter looked immediately significantly better. -

I just don't think it matters. It's highly doubtful Erving stays healthy. He could be Jonathan Ogden but it doesn't matter if he's on the sidelines in street clothes. -

It's a bad plan if that's the plan. I think they pretty much realize that Moton is gonna end up at LT this season. Honestly, it's a good thing. Let's find out of he can be the answer there. We're gonna hope that Erving can stay healthy but the guy couldn't even make it though the shorts and t-shirt days of camp before he was already injured. It's just highly doubtful he's going to remain available and I honestly think that's why they've focused on RT for Christensen. Moton at LT and Christensen at RT this season feels inevitable even if it's not plan A. -
He would have to play pretty disastrously to get yanked for PJ.

Ideally, me too. But then what was the point of drafting Christensen and then focusing on him playing RT? A 3rd round pick is a steep price to pay for a guy you plan on just being a backup.
