How the Top QB's performed when faced with pressure..
JawnyBlaze replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have an automatic reaction that goes back years to anyone posting PFF grades as if PFF is in the huddle and meeting rooms with the teams and knows what they’re supposed to be doing. The objective stuff they put out, or less subjective (like catchable balls), doesn’t get as much of a reaction out of me. But the stuff that involves decision making and qualities like that, that PFF has no foundation for making a judgement on, I automatically respond with “PFF is trash” heh -

Ok, lemme rephrase, accepting their “grades” as definitive evaluations is pure trash. They try to push their grades while not knowing the context of what they’re evaluating in many cases. Can they accurately assess the difference between a drop and an uncatchable ball? Probably more often than not. Can they accurately assess what a QB’s reads were within the scope of the play that was called and whether they made the right decision? No chance. Can they accurately assess if an OL got overpowered by a DL? Sure. Can they assess whether the OL missed his assignment or whether it was his neighbor’s responsibility? Not often. -

To what extent are all franchises using PFF? I sure hope the Panthers aren’t putting a lot weight on their “grades”. Like I said, there are uses for PFF, even if just as part of a pool of data. Taking their opinions as gospel ain’t one of them. -

I don’t like QBR either but it’s better than PFF, PFF is straight trash. Only good for looking up concrete stats that aren’t subject to their “interpretation”. -

Josh Klein: strong probability Panthers trade out of #39
JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
“Only two picks in the top 92,” weird to just cut off the sample size right before our third pick… we still have one pick in each of the first three rounds… -
#1 overall starts immediately. No QB competition bs. Named starter on draft night.

Curious about Fitterer's options concerning trading Pick 39?
JawnyBlaze replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah. At 39 we have a shot at a top tier TE, or some other positions that should still be fat with talent. Dropping that low might miss out on someone special at a lower value position like TE or OG -
Is it time to take the Falcons seriously?

I mean, no one thinks he’s actually playing north of 200. Not even the staunchest Young supporter in the media thinks his combine weight was anything but temporary. NFL defenses are a whole different animal from college defenses even if there are some guys that are going to be in the NFL. With that said, I don’t think the 15-20 lbs difference between his combine weight and playing weight means he’ll automatically snap like a twig the first time someone hits him. Some little guys are just tough, maybe he is too. CMC was supposedly too small to be running up the middle and yet he did all the time and his only injury problems have had nothing to do with being too small and getting hit.
-
From what I can see there’s some people against him because they don’t think his tiny frame will hold up in the NFL, and then there some people like me who aren’t against him at all, just prefer Stroud who is better at throwing the football. The only thing I’m against is all this inane “it’s over, buy your Young jerseys” nonsense from gullible fans slurping up every rumor as if they’re based on anything real. No one knows yet. If it’s Young, I’ll be happy. If it’s Stroud I’ll be more happy. If it’s Richardson after a trade down (I know, highly unlikely), I’ll be happy. I just want the nonsense to be over so we can unify behind whoever our guy ends up being, though there will still be haters no matter who our guy is.

This guy gets it...prepare yourself Bryce stans
JawnyBlaze replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
Or you can just be like me and acknowledge that none of them know anything, half of them are pushing an agenda, 45% are blindly throwing poo against all way so they can say “I was right” if it sticks, and 5% are using their own analysis and opinion to say who they think it should be. -
Don’t bother trying to save the sanity of some of these fools, ready to gobble up every rumor and piece of intentional misdirection thrown out there by anyone with a platform. No one knows anything more than they knew two months ago. This same thing happens throughout the year, not just draft season. Lotta people are helplessly gullible.

Albert Breer: Bryce Young scored 98 on his S2 teat
JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s not like practicing the 40 though. It’s mental, not physical. It would help taking it multiple times. The more comfortable and familiar you are with something like that, the quicker you can react. Anyone who’s played duck hunt, the first time you play you’re not going to score nearly as well as the tenth or twentieth. -

JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nobody is knocking Bryce for practicing it. But you also can’t say practicing something doesn’t improve your performance in reaction times. Of course it does. The more you practice the more you’re able to react without thinking. Think of reaction based video games, the more you play then the better you get, especially when it’s strictly based on reaction time. Is it a very good sign that he scored so well? Of course! Does the fact he’s been practicing since high school skew the context of comparing his score against anyone else who took the test? Of course it does. -
Unlikely since the only thing that’s been said regarding Stroud and the test is that ALL the top QB prospects scored very well on it.

Is Bryce a #1 prospect if he didn’t go to Bama?
JawnyBlaze replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Stroud faced significantly higher ranked defenses than Young did. Someone posted the side by side comparison weeks ago. But yea, they both have elite traits -
