  1. Brees' arm is shot. If you can't challenge deep, playing D is easy.
  2. So talk about both too. Football here and baseball on a baseball forum.
  3. I already follow you (@Marguide). Since I'm out of the country, should I happen to win, pick out a deserving child at our next home game and give it to him or her with my regards.
  4. Horton is primarily a run defender. Addison, on the other hand, is primarily a rush DE. Not that either are great, but they are certainly part of the equation.
  5. But nobody is claiming he is going to be Greg Hardy reincarnated. He's a guy earning less than $900,000 to help get over the loss of CJ. If he can get maybe 6 sacks this year and hold his own against the run it's a great pickup. I seriously doubt Ealy, Addison or Horton would produce more.
  6. Think about the game last year against Detroit. Remember who started on our o-line? How many of you predicted that Suh and company would destroy us up front? How did that turn out? Watt is an exceptional player, but he is just 1 of 11. Respect him, but don't fear him. There are schemes that can help us neutralize him.
  7. You've never been shy about jumping the gun, have you?
  8. They still count against the cap. The only advantage to waiting after week 1 to sign a vet is their salary isn't guaranteed. Before week 1, their full year's salary is guaranteed.
  9. I'm remember reading this same comment (or some close variation) last year before we picked up Remmers. There are always serviceable players out there. Identifying them is no easy task, but you never give up the search.
  10. Cam's contract is not front loaded. The cap hits are evenly spaced throughout, except for this year, which is lower than the following years.
  11. Yeah, big government shouldn't interfere with private business. Except, of course, when they want to be interfered with, maybe to get an anti-trust exemption, or tax breaks, or help with infrastructure around the stadium etc. But otherwise, dammit, keep your nose out of our businesses!
  12. Don't know how to do multiquote on the app, but regarding your convo with Jeremy about Horton, I thought Horton was in on early downs because he was better against the run. Addison would come in on passing downs because he was better at getting to the QB. I'm not sure how that impacts either one's chances at making the final 53, but guys that get sacks are usually more valuable.
  13. Some keep throwing around the word "talent", suggesting Bersin's is already defined fully, while that of the other candidates at WR is yet to be determined. I don't get it. Using the same rationale, many of you would never have given Brady a chance. Stop deciding on guys based strictly on how high they were drafted or their measurables. Put the best guys on the field, regardless of pedigree.
  14. O course they would tear up the existing contract. That happens all the time. And as to precedent with the 5tth year option, Cam's class is the first one drafted with a potential 5th year option.
  15. Hardy is not going to give money back. That's nonsense. Nor will the team franchise him. I don't have strong feelings either way as to whether or not he should be a Panther. My problem is with the league letting a player and our team bear the brunt of good ole Rodger's fug up. And I also see too many here that seem to want to fry the guy. All of us, and I do mean all, have made mistakes in our lives. Those mistakes should not necessarily define us forever. There are those on this board that seem to take an inordinate amount of pleasure in the misfortunes of others. Not just as it relates to Hardy, but every NFL player that finds himself in trouble. I'm not a religious man, but my recollection is the bible says something about throwing the first stone. Take it for what you will.
  16. Too many of you sanctimonious _____have convicted Hardy in your own personal court. It makes no difference what the courts say. It makes no difference what actually transpired. It is as if some of you are actually hoping he pays the maximum penalty, just because. Is Hardy riskier than most players? Maybe. That is why any smart team needs to factor that into any negotiations. All I know is the NFL is full of players that have done far, far worse than anything Greg did, and yet some of these same people are now league ambassadors (see Ray Lewis, among others). Enough of the hypocrisy. Love him or hate him, Greg has not done anything of sufficient seriousness to be kept off the field and earning his livelihood.
  17. Not necessarily true. I was against the idea of a 1 year rental for $13 million because I thought the money could have better been spent elsewhere, and felt that way before he ever got into trouble. Now, the situation is different. If he would play for somewhere below market on a prove it deal I'd be all for it. Hardy and the Panthers have both gotten the shaft on this because of Rodger G.'s incompetent handling of the Ray Rice mess. Many, many players have done worse things than Greg with far fewer consequences. Greg is no choir boy and never will be. CJ, one of our captains, has been known to be a party animal and womanizer. Beason, a former captain, punched a guy out at the club. We all know about Smitty. Greg's incident came at the worst possible time and he and the Panthers paid the price. If I were JR, the opinion of the players and coaches would have an impact on my decision. I especially would want to know more about the guns. That is potentially far more damning to me than what apparently transpired between him and Nicloe.
  18. I'd be down with PhillyB, Teeray, Monsta or SCP. I usually agree with those 4 which is all that matters to a self-centered person like myself. That said, why would any rational person want to be a mod? I see no opportunities for graft or corruption, and it's not like it's going to help you get laid, so where's the payoff?
  19. Tried to listen using the link above, but it only plays the first several minutes. Cuts off right when she is talking about the short rookie practices, how they stretch and then...
  20. Some of the comments I have read in this thread make me embarrassed to be part of this community. Fortunately, the majority of people here still have some morals and integrity, but too often they are being drowned out by those that apparently never learned much about right and wrong, and what is an appropriate comment and what isn't. But carry on with your cute little jokes and your generalizations about athletes and the women they associate with if that is the type of thing that makes you feel better or more manly.
  21. If they keep playing like this, our D is going to put up some points before this game is over.
