  1. OK NFL Nerds with little to no lives: What does this mean in relation to the possibility of trading Burns? In other words, does this distinction provide an indication of what they intend to do? It would seem to me that they might have better luck trading him after the draft--but I don't keep up with patterns, so I am curious. Now I have to get back to a fulfilling, very productive life. Thanks in advance, Love, MHS
  2. I hated Elway--the player and then the GM there. Never liked Denver (love the city though)--when they traded for Payton, I was thinking, "You just traded for a coach who was good because of Drew Brees. "
  3. Someone said that Payton did not sign up for this mess.He is one of those coaches who is only considered pgreat" because he did not have to worry about the QB position for a long time. Bill Belichick (sp) was another. He took the job, in my view, because Denver had an established QB. I think Payton thought he could fix Wilson. Now, I will say that Denver had a decent year last season, but Payton lost patience. Wilson improved, and after a 1-5 start, they won like 5 in a row--and improved from 5-12 to 8-9. At one point, they were 7-6 and then lost to the Patriots in Denver--after blowing a lead (Bad team, coached by Belichick--that was when Wilson got benched for the rest of the season.) Now, think personalities--Wilson is this religious, happy optimist who seems fake, and Payton is best known for bounty gate. Evil vs. Good narcissists. I think this move is based on Payton's ego.
  4. I have never liked Russell Wilson--the person. He just seems fake to me, but after cleaning out Denver's bank account, he smiles at the presser and tells the world how he can go somewhere else and return to his level of greatness. I would be humble and apologetic even, but not that arrogant narcissist. In essence, he is telling the people of Denver that they will be buying season tickets to pay for him to play elsewhere while they struggle in Cap space hell the entire time. His expression seemed to indicate that he does not get it--this is not about his well being. I think it was embarrassing on one level, but again, he let Denver down. Lotta people tell me that he is just like that--a religious optimist and not a narcissist. I disagree.
  5. Wilson had good WRs, a stud RB, and a helluva defense during his glory days in seattle. he sucked in Denver. Now you can see why Canales is going to build around Bryce--he thinks he can turn water into wine again.
  6. You think Cleveland is paying attention?
  7. Since he re-signed, does that mean Baker is elite? I have not read this entire thread. Sorry if it is so yesterday evening.
  8. I think Newton is just speculating. He does not seem to have the connections others have. When your post begins with "Keep an eye out..." All I can say is a look at the salaries tells you that is a possibility, but it is a 50% possibility, so bases covered. Cutting edge of journalism? Nope--not when you speculate about if they are OK with dead money. He could read the Huddle and get more insight.
  9. Yeah, best to pay him this year, in my humble opinion, because at least you get something for the dead money, and june cut him in 2025. It was a strange contract.
  10. Not sure what has been discussed, but they recently announced that fields is not getting the offers the Bears had hoped to get...Russell Wilson getting released is going to make him cheaper without a trade. Cousins is now the favorite in Atlanta if he moves, but their second choice is Baker Mayfield. Oh my.
  11. I agree, but the interest in OTs right now could be an indication that he is not our RT in 2025. He will be 31, and while that is not too old for a T, it is too much for a 31 year old RT with his credentials.
  12. I have been saying all along that we need help at CB before this happened. I worry about Horn's ability to keep from getting injured. If he demands top dollar, I will be sorta pissed. If we lose Burns and a starting CB, it could be a bad thing. Fitterer had no plan for the future, it seems. Moton getting $30 m in 2024 and 2025, the Burns fiasco....I really thought we'd be in better shape when the dead cap dropped off, but Fitterer seems to have mortgaged the future to go 2-15. Just my misinformed opinion.
  13. First of all, my rule is (and I have never broken this rule--you have my word) is never give a RB a second contract. If you look at the data, they peak at age 26 and most never earn the second contract. But here comes Fitterer and he says, "Hey, let's pay top dollar for a RB off a team that had a great OL and a dual threat QB who had AJ Brown and Devonta Smith at WR and Dallas Goedert at TE and see what he can do here--"
  14. He was probably an early second rounder before the injury--however, I am thinking he could go late second early third. I would love him--but these hogs with lower body injuries lose luster until they have proven they can return to form
  15. BC could backup every position--I was thinking we gave him some snaps at C as a rookie, but I might be wrong. He is athletic, smart, and most NFL teams covet the swing tackles. I think we are going to sign a G free agent and draft a T--maybe with #65
  16. I get that about the CBs--I just think we had a need and I like the quality that should be there in the middle. I think there are a large number of CBs who will make a roster--not seeing to many Revis Islands. I would be fine re-signing S Griffin and maybe a nickel late.
  17. I like to think, "There was a time when I could outrun Xavier Worthy." It was around 2003. When he was 1.
  18. My mouth does not always follow my mocking. I find myself going BPA when I mock. Man, the OL, WR, and CB groups look strong.
  19. Nice to know that someone, somewhere is up when I am !! I think we keep Thielen maybe one season and you are right, go after the Alpha. We cannot miss on any picks--need 2 who can contribute. I think we are going to splurge on a G and find a serviceable CB in free agency--and then we will draft a developmental T later, based on these tea leaves.
  20. Multiple WR types looks like we could go WR twice. In the deepest WR draft in years, yes. Teams may opt for other needs in the first round, assuming they can take a WR in round 2. That will cause someone to drop. My Rankings of these WRs (and so it was written): X WRs Round 1, 2: Brian Thomas 6-4 205 LSU (Gotta think Canales will want a Mike Evans clone) Round 2: Keon Coleman 6-4 205 FSU (Another large Evans-type red zone WR) Round 2, 3: Xavier Legette 6-3 227 THE USC (thick WR who is 23 with 1 year of experience. I thought he looked a bit sloppy at times at the Combine from what I could see. I am a Gamecock fan, but I think he'd be a value at pick #65, not #33. Slot WRs Round 1, 2: Ladd McConkey 6-0 185 UGA (Not sure you put him at slot exclusively; he can play all over. Good route runner.) Round 2: Xavier Worthy 6-1, 172 Texas (Zay Flowers' success, 4.21 could inflate his worthy-ness; I have him as a late second rounder, frankly. I know many have him as a possible first rounder. Too raw, imo. Round 3, 4: Malik Washington 5-8, 195 UVa (Huge production at UVA and he is perfect for the RAC receiver we need for screens and reverses, etc. Some have him as high as a second-round grade, but not in this WR group. He is a third rounder and we could probably get him at pick #101. Round 3, 4: Ainias Smith 5-10, 200 TexAM (Effective WR with big play and KR capabilities. My overall Rankings Brian Thomas Ladd McConkey Keon Coleman Xavier Worthy Xavier Leggett Malik Washington Ainias Smith
  21. Morgan was right. We need some Dawgs. Thanks Dawg. It sure looks like we are 100% offense this time around. the D players (some of them) might be undrafted free agents. The fact that we talked to multiple OTs and no IOL (I realize this list is probably not complete) could also be telling. Could mean that we are targeting G in free agency like rumored. In our draft range, OG and OC is deep too. However, we could see 7 OTs come off the board in round 1--maybe 8. In round 3, we could get a second round value. Strongly suggests that we either A) are not 100% sold on Ickey or 2) need depth and plan to move on from Moton at some point, probably 2025.
  22. we need to draft 2 WRs and 2 OL in this year's draft. The talent is overwhelming. BC to swing T--he is perfect for that. I changed my tune based on watching the combine this morning. Wow--the Center group is strong, the G group is very strong. OT? not as strong. 60 something combine invitees.
