Want to know something even better? New England has the 2nd most turnovers this season
-
Baker asked and Steve let him. He didn’t fit the scheme McAdoo and Wilks changed to. HOWEVER- I have to say I get really tired of the Wilks fan crew on here. He’s from Charlotte and blah, blah, blah. -The defense regressed in 2017 under him when McDermott left and he went to Arizona and failed miserably. -Rivera could have brought him back as DC but didn’t and even chose to stick with Washington over bringing him back. So he went to Cleveland and failed there too. -Everyone forgets how scared he coached. He was more conservative than Fox and Rivera. -The defense actually got worse with him and Holcombe after Snow left. -He lost the game in Tampa for the division, punting in FG range, not going for it on 4th and short, not adjusting coverage and getting beat deep. OH, and let’s not forget signing Josh Norman but continuing play CJ Henderson and Keith Taylor despite them getting cooked all game. -Right now his defense is statistically worse than Evero’s and Ulbrich had that group looking good last season. Wilks wasn’t a great coach, Rhule was just that bad that somebody at Wilks level could win a few games with a few changes.

The Texans and Chiefs will still find a way to win their divisions.

panthers offense 30 of 32 in yards per play

True but Jacksonville is 10th ranked defense and Atlanta is 2nd. Arizona is 23rd which makes sense. New England is 16th so we will see -

I think overall we are 24th in total offense and 20th in total defense. I think it was 27th and 32nd last year. -
Tim Donnelly said it best yesterday, we didn’t really pour it on offensively because we didn’t have to. They were doing it to themselves, and we just needed to control the football and not turn the ball over. Plus, Atlanta’s defense has came a LONG way with Ulbrich. Probably Top 3 toughest defense we will see this year.

Sanders to miss weeks to high ankle sprain

Looks like Ceedee Lamb had the same issue and probably won’t be on the field when we play Dallas. -
Why I say the 6-8 range. It depends how we do in the next four.
-
Next 4 are: Pats, Dolphins, Cowboys, Jets. Who have a combined record of 2-10 right now. If we can walk away at least 2-2 that gives us 3 wins. We play the Saints twice, they have allowed 90 points in 3 games and average about 15 pts per game- very likely to only win 1-2 games this year. Should sweep them tbh. That’s 5 wins. We have beat Atlanta once so, could possibly do it again especially as they keep falling apart. That’s 6. Plus we could always get lucky against Tampa or the niners who are very beat up (Kittle, Aiyuk, Bosa, etc) that would be 7. which puts us exactly in the 6-8 range I figured we would be at this year.

I don’t think he comes to games anymore. I haven’t seen the camera show him in a press box since middle of the season last year. Several people say he is rarely even around anymore. I think he was at a practice a while back.

In little man’s defense he put that deep ball right on McMillan but the refs missed that his arm was being held.

We won, but Bryce and Canalas still blow

Yeah I’m just going to enjoy the fact we shut out a division rival at home. AND the fact that we play the pats, dolphins, cowboys, and jets who all look as bad as us this season over the next 4 weeks. We could see a .500 record in November for the first time in forever. -

The rushing stats were skewed. The defense is better but it’s still worse than what we have had in the past. It’s probably at 2021/2022 level. It has just been historically bad in recent memory so seeing this progress is very refreshing. Honestly, if our defense played at just below average level, we probably would have won 2-3 more games last season. -
Update: I wore the vintage blue peppers. I’m superstitious so I may break out the white vintage Delhomme next week

I swear we are so unlucky it has to be scripted -
It will be interesting this year to see if spending time with some of the best QBs and play callers in the league changed Wentz at all. I really think Mills is starter material. He wasn’t awful despite being apart of two dumpster fire seasons before Demeco got there. Plus he would have zero issues seeing over the line.
-
I don’t know. I think if Bryce doesn’t work out, which seems to be the way things are heading- I don’t see us drafting a QB. We should but we won’t because Canales and Morgan will be on year 3 and panicking. So the year we shouldn’t have drafted a QB we did and the year we should, we won’t IMO. If we go the vet route, assuming Morgan and Canales are still here, I see three options. 1) Drew Lock- can totally see them taking a Jake Delhomme style approach with it like they did in 03 and he has a little overlap with Canales. 2) Carson Wentz- I can see Kevin O’ Connell reshaping him a little bit. He has spent some time with him, Mahomes/Reid, and Stafford/McVay the last few years and may have refined himself a bit. Plus, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him outperform McCarthy at times this year but get the boot because they are invested in JJ. 3) Davis Mills- Considered one of the better back ups in the league. Big guy, big arm, very football smart.
-
He reminds me more and more of Laviska Shenault. Super athletic but can’t really do anything
-
Penix is the most overrated QB in the NFL. I think Canales comes out running the ball like the 2nd half of last season. Panthers somehow find a way to win 26-24. besides, little man is 2-1 against Atlanta.
