The Last Waltz. The Band's last concert filmed by Martin Scorcese on Thanksgiving Day 1976 in the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. A small sample of the guests who played.... Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, The Staples Singers, Emmylou Harris, Paul Butterfield, Ringo Starr.... etc... I was there.

And what event are you participating in besides the "knuckle dragger circle jerk with my bestie goat lover boys?" By the way, if your "Life Don't Matter," why live it?

Along these same lines..... sort of..... I bought tickets, flights and a hotel for a couple days to go to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction at the Rocket Mortgage Arena in Cleveland at the end of October. The inductees: Tina Turner, Carole King, Foo Fighters, JayZ, LLCoolJ, Randy Rhoades, Gil Scott-Heron, Go-Go's, Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, Billy Preston. Tina likely will not attend as she's been in pretty poor health of late and lives in Switzerland. Foo Fighters will kill, as will Carole, JayZ, LLCoolJ, the Go-Go's and Todd. Will be interested to see who plays tribute to Billy Preston and Randy Rhoades?

Brendan Smith signed (LD/RD). I think this makes Gardiner even more available as trade bait and he adds a lot of experience to a 3 or 4th line and he can play either side. I could see him playing alongside Cole on the 3rd line and Bear and Skjei on the 4th. Either way, someone will get their feelings hurt having to play the 4th line. This is a sneaky good defensive group- not a lot of offense- but strong on D. Him & Cole together might be one of the most physical blue lines this team has ever seen. And, also not to be taken for granted, Svech did not file for arbitration and I'm fairly certain he could have(?).

The vault she committed to the judges prior to the event and the one she attempted weren't even close.

Today's takes... Anyone care to guess why Carolina didn't make a serious run at Grubauer? $5.9M for a top tier G isn't a bad price. I like Brandon Saad. Canes had a phenomenal PK last season and they could lock down defensively when they had to, but I don't see much roster improvement defensively that would justify the head-scratching goalie bind they found themselves in. It almost seems as though either no one was listening to Ned or his agent, or the Canes believed he would stay for a team-friendly salary. I don't know, but I have a pretty good idea Ned wanted to go and the Canes went in desperation mode looking for a goalie. I know the Devils signed Dougie for $9M a year. But did you also know they're also paying PK Subban $9M a year? Subban's last 2 seasons in New Jersey: -21 (18 pts) and -16 (19 pts). NJ is paying Subban and Dougie almost as much as their entire roster of forwards....

Heard that same story after Steve Smith punched a teammate. Heard the same story from the Caps fans over Tom Wilson's on ice thug life. Heard the same when Tom Brady played golf with Trump.

True, but you might get some arguments about the Panthers as well..... -

That ended a couple years ago.... And, even if that was the case as his alma mater, why isn't his name on the football stadium at Wofford instead of the indoor basketball stadium? Because the Gibbs family donated the first $1M to build it, that's why. -

Easy question... why the fug are they even at Wofford? I thought it was miserable the one and only time I went to camp down there, like in 1999 or something. UNC Wilmington, Coastal Carolina, ECU... fug, anything's gotta be better than Spartanburg. -
I've yet to see any move that makes the 2021-2022 version of the Canes any better than last season.

I want Hakanpaa back on the Canes roster. Need someone on this roster who will hit someone.

Anderson for $4.5M? This only tells me Ned wanted to be gone. The Canes could have gone to arbitration with Ned and still paid less than $4.5M. And Anderson is just another goalie getting worse as he gets older. Sure, Raanta had a very crappy 12 games last season, but his prior years were all pretty good from a GAA perspective. Hell, career numbers right now are far better than Anderson.

I think she's supposed to be doing that part..... Seriously- congratulations!

Dougie is a UFA not worth whatever he wants, gave up another blue-liner in Bean with no goalies under contract. Some 'splainin' to do.

We've fostered dogs for local rescues for many years, and I served on the board of a well-respected and established SPCA organization in Virginia. Although it's very rewarding, it has just as much potential to be heart-breaking. Couple of important guidelines we established so as to prevent us from owning everything we've fostered: Establish a maximum amount of time you will keep the animal for the organization. This prevents the animal from getting too attached and prevents you from doing the same. 2 weeks is about tops for us. Use whatever name for the animal is provided by the organization. If you name it, you've made an emotional investment and it'll be difficult to give him up. Do not be a foster and also be responsible for finding his new owners. You care for the animal and let the organization do the vetting of possible families. Most fosters come from bad situations. Make sure he can sleep where he's comfortable- watch him to see where he tends to lay down and nap more often. It may be in the corner of a room, it may be behind something or near a door if they've been physically abused. If he's house trained and you feel like a crate or cage isn't necessary, don't use one just because it's convenient for you. Feed them healthy and feed them right. If they're emaciated, underweight or always seeming to be hungry, a little at a time a few times a day. Don't give them half a can and not expect them to get sick or develop diarrhea. Make sure your spouse, sig other or whomever is with you on this is on the same page as you are. The foster needs consistency, needs communication and needs to express their unconditional love. More than one person spending time with the foster is better socialization, will bring them out of their shell quicker and will allow them to trust again quicker. Lastly, there is no way to easily move on. Whether it's been 2 days or 2 months, you've committed to giving this animal a better life in a short amount of time, which requires emotional vulnerability. You must always believe that your foster will live a much better life after having spent time with you and you must know that you made that happen. Be proud of what you've done, be happy for your foster and always keep the good memories.
