Game 7: @ Blackhawks - 8:00pm Puck Drop
Anybodyhome replied to Stumpy's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I wasn't aware of the injury, was watching and listening to Mike & Tripp during the broadcast when they were speculating why he sat. Nevertheless, McGinn is playing better than TT right now. Not something I expected, but again, TT just hasn't gotten it going yet. Don't get me wrong, I love the kid's game, hopefully it's just a slump. -
Derek Carr is actually a QB who would fit on this team.

Remember Turbo sat for several shifts before the COVID thing when RBA didn't like his play and because he looked lost out there a couple times. Not sure it's the COVID thing, but he might be one of the most inconsistent top line guys on the team right now. Still waiting for the light to come on. -

True that- it was the first thing I thought of when he went out in the 4-spot. -
I say 32 wins in the remaining 50 games and the Canes win the division. I really think they could do it with 28, but 32 is counting on them to win 5 of 8 from each team, on average. They may split with a couple teams, but they may sweep a couple, too or win 6 of the 8.

That's his blocker side- he's gotta get that thumb into a glove on the inside of the pad.

Looks like a new joint was created where there wasn't one before. More than likely a surgery coming to pin that thing back together.
-
Neither of these is even a remote possibility in the underserved communities of color.

Reimer in net, Ned on the active roster.

The hooking call in OT was horrible and I thought it would mean a loss. The guys are probably whipped after 6 periods, 2 OTs and a shootout in less than 24 hours. -
Stars @ Canes Tonight. GET IN HERE!

McCormick is probably out for a long time. A pretty obvious and blatant boarding call missed by the refs- who were not very good last night. -
What do you mean when you say, "... if it's a health concern?" You don't think it's a health concern? Tell that to the people who are deciding who gets the shot and when. I said this is my first post on the subject- teachers/administrators/staff/operational personnel should have been placed in the first groups for vaccines. However, they weren't and they can't be held accountable for someone else's mistake. Again, stop blaming the education system and start understanding the time for blame is over, gone, past and too late. 433,000 dead in this country as of this morning and you're still trying to blame people and telling people to go back to work. It's a fugging pandemic- it's a health care crisis.

Hockey Is Back Tonight! Get In Here!

Great win. Was out and about and couldn't tune in until the start of the 2nd, but I had a good feeling after seeing what they did for 20 minutes. They had some issues in the 3rd and Mrazek really showed up when TB started going to the net. The whole OT was Canes- might have been one of the best OTs they played in years. I have my opinions about Staal, but that line change and pass was a thing of beauty. -
Which is why I finished my post with this statement: "It's not as simple as handing out laptops and showing kids how to log in. I could go on for a couple pages on that subject alone." And the NY Times op-ed is not indicative of anything but the NY system and, therefore, cannot and should not be applied to a thread discussing the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. It's nothing more than an attempt to blame the effect of the pandemic on organized labor, which is childish, at best, regardless of the locale. The school system is not the cause, it's the effect of the pandemic. As I said before, it's no different than the restaurant industry, travel and tourism, brick & mortar retail. Just like those industries, the education system has also fallen prey to the pandemic. Stop trying to put this on the teachers, school districts and the like and start acting like this is a real world health care crisis.

No. The Panthers could pull a Mike Ditka and offer their entire draft for him like New Orleans did for Ricky Williams and if the Texans don't want to consider the offer, they don't have to. You think Indianapolis, with all their cap space and need for a QB, is going to be considered if they came to the table with an offer? Hell no, the Texans don't want to get beat by Watson twice a year for the next decade, so they won't even consider a deal with the Colts, no matter what they offer.
-
He has to approve the team. (we may be saying the same thing here...) He has no say-so over the terms. The Texans will decide who they negotiate with. And, as Watson himself has said, the Jets may be a good place for him. But the Texans may decide they won't listen to any offers from the Jets just to be sure Watson doesn't get what he wants.
-
Yeah, I'm a Directv guy and I don't want to miss games.
-
Watson may have a no-trade clause, but that doesn't have any bearing on the terms- only the team. Carolina might offer up something, but the Texans don't even have to consider it. And, on the other hand, the Texans stand a pretty good chance of being on the receiving end of a bidding war when it comes to Miami and the Jets.

This all day. And, to be quite honest, why aren't educators considered "essential employees" and why weren't they part of the first groups to be vaccinated? "Teachers only work 9 months out of the year, anyway...." (bullshit) Here's what's not being said: "I'm tired of my kid being home and I have to adjust my schedule. Put 'em back in school so I can get on with my life." "I can't afford day care and I depend on the school for that." "It's not my job to teach my kids or make sure they're getting their studies done." As someone who experienced COVID, I can unequivocally state that if I had a kid, they would not be in school until I decided it was safe, I don't care if he/she would have to repeat if there was no remote learning option. The other elephant in the room not many want to discuss is the lack of infrastructure and resources within the under-served communities to have a successful remote learning experience. It's not as simple as handing out laptops and showing kids how to log in. I could go on for a couple pages on that subject alone.

I maintain a limited inventory of N95s on the job, but we locked those up. We keep them for use as part of the job and if we wore them daily, I don't know I'd be able to get any when we need them for the true reason they were purchased. We're using both cloth and a blue surgical style made for people working in the electronics manufacturing industry. Some of my people are wearing the cloth over the surgical.

How much do you think the situation you're dealing with varies from one county to another, given each has their own BOE, and the BOE has their own agenda?
