Comparing the NHL and the NFL with respect to franchise valuation is apples and oranges. The business models are completely different in almost every facet. The financial operation of the NFL contains so much "projected" and "future" money and, with the exception of the Green Bay Packers, are privately owned entities. Therefore, no one really knows how much money owners are making. Look no further than the salary cap structure for both leagues. At least the NHL has a hard cap and it doesn't take a PhD to figure it out. Meanwhile, the NFL salary cap is so completely convoluted that everyone has a paid capologist. It allows for teams to say they'll pay someone x-dollars over the next 5 years, defer some of it, guarantee some of it, etc. The NFL is a business model that operates as a monopoly, not so much the NHL. The most floundering, worst team in the NFL will continue to appreciate and make money regardless of their situation. See what happened with NHL franchises who faced on-ice and financial challenges? North Stars, Whalers, Thrashers... The NHL business model requires a level of on-ice success to remain a viable franchise. But, as was mentioned several times throughout the thread, the bottom line is this- the Canes are a successful franchise and the biggest factor in the financial success is they win. NFL owners egos are the only motivating factor for winning. They will make money regardless how bad the on-field product is.

I know it's the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, but I do have 2 seats available in Section 215, Row B, seats 5&6 if anyone is interested. They are part of my season package and I can easily transfer the tickets. PM me for details if interested. Anyone here wants them I'll pull the listing from Ticketmaster.
-
Yeah, usually, you can count on Staal to win the draw and he gets off the ice with Burnsie, Slavin stays on with whomever (Necas & Aho). I put my tickets up for sale for the Blue Jackets game on Nov 26.
-
No, I bought these extra a few weeks ago because I didn't want to wait another 10 days for my season package to start. To tell you the truth, I've spoken with a lot of fans who had season packages and gave them up this season because of the changes they made to seat selection, schedule packages, etc. I may end up selling a good number of my season tickets and just buy resale. Not fond of the seats I had little choice in selecting in 215. I'll probably pass on the season package next year and just buy on the open market.

In person allows you to see so much more of the skaters working together. Anyway, for starters, both penalties on Staal were crap. Especially the trip while the puck was tied up on the boards. Next, a whole lot of grade A chances where guys just missed an open net. Game should have been a 5-2 regulation win. Orlov is figuring it out and playing much better. Chatfield will be my next sweater. Dude is playing lights out D. He's come a long way and might be the second best D-man on the team. Gotta admit that was easily Raanta's best game of the season. He made 3 saves I thought were sure goals. Pisser moment: They don't sell Riviera beer at the main Club bars anymore. Stand in line only to be told it's sold in the small lounge bar. Da fug.... Scary moment: Staal, Slavin & Burns on the ice to start OT and they don't win the draw.....

Wasn't this band the result of a movie or something like that?

We're there, too. I bought these tickets a few weeks back when I decided I couldn't wait another 10 days for my season package to start...

Is this fanbase not suited for a rookie QB?
Anybodyhome replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This team, going back to its debut years in the NFL has always suffered from bad QB choices, among many others. Kerry Collins was above average and could have been much better than he was. Jake Delhomme was a journeyman who found himself in a once-in-a-lifetime situation surrounded with massive talent. Cam Newton was lightning in a bottle and probably set fan expectations way too high for the future. That's it. Then there were the other choices- Clausen, Stefan LeFors, Jeff Lewis, Chris Weinke, Randy Fasani, Tony Pike. And those are just the draft choices. The Panthers have been plagued by bad decisions for 30 years now, with way more misses than hits. -
That would be anything over 125 passing yards and having a pass travel more than 15 yards in the air.
-
Gotta win OT. I have no faith in Raanta in a shootout.
-
That's game, folks.
-
This is nothing more than a pretty average hockey team. It's still early in the season, but I can honestly say this team can't make the playoffs playing like this.

Sorokin was 1-3 against the Canes last season. Allowed 11 goals in 4 games- tied with most among NHL opponents with Columbus.

Gameday Hurricanes at Rangers 11.2.23
Anybodyhome replied to BY9Franchise's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Another scoring slump (imagine that) from the scoring lines. If you look past TT's hattie and his game winner in Philly, the top lines have again gone cold. Has Aho even scored since his 3-game injury absence? Hell, the best players on the ice right now are Svech, Jarvy, Chatty and Freddie. New guys are learning the system and getting better, but at this pace, the Canes will win 48 games this season. -
Yeah, I'll be cancelling tomorrow as well. I don't have a backup plan, though, so I'll be looking for something.
-
Bally Sports down again tonight. Not seeing the Ranger game.
-
So, at $19.99 per month to watch all Hurricane games, home and away.... maybe, it it's working. Or, go with a VPN and watch all the games on ESPN+ and choose the home or away broadcast, probably for much less than what Bally charges. I'm just not tech savvy enough to know VPN and having to change server locations to get the games and have to switch back to a local closer server to get my local channels? I'd really need a major tutorial to make all that happen.
-
I missed the game because Bally was screwed up.
-
Any help with a stream I can get into? Bally's login server poo the bed this afternoon and still isn't up.
-
He always shuffles and, according to today's update, he'll play Svech as much or as little as necessary, depending on his game feel. BY9, the projected lines are simply identifying the dressed players, healthy scratches and injuries.
-
As I suspected: Tonight's Projected Lineup... Forwards Teravainen - Aho - Jarvis Bunting - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Svechnikov - Drury - Noesen Defense Slavin - Burns Skjei - DeAngelo Orlov - Chatfield Goaltenders Andersen
-
I think he's okay with the guys in the locker room. It's John Tortorella he had issues with. Torts healthy scratched him the last several games of last season. And, just throwing this out there..... just because Bryce Young was the QB when the Panthers finally won a game does not suddenly make him a better QB than Stroud or anyone else, for that matter. Last time I checked Stroud is still the front runner for ROY. But, hey, at least the 473 Panther fans in attendance yesterday got to see a win.

Who's playing off? Chatty, Burns and TDA are all righties; Slavin, Burns and Skjei are lefties. Keep in mind Orlov was drafted and spent a lot of time playing his off side, and Chatty played almost his entire first season as a lefties on his off side.
