Chatty is playing exceptionally well.
-
Orlov is getting shifts on his off side
-
Very nice pass. Tripp is right- Canes are backing off the blue line too easy. So used to seeing the Canes standing up everything at the blue line.
-
If it were a hoops play, he would have broke ankles. Was a pretty nifty move from Bjork.
-
Puck was rolling and he never had a good handle.
-
Gotta go high blocker on this guy.
-
So far, so good. I'm watching and they look much better. Back checks, covering passing lanes and some grit.
-
So, aside from the Canes losing- how did they skate? Scoring chances? Defensive improvement? I saw the stat line the Canes had about 10 more SOG than Tampa, but they scored 3 on 20-some shots? PP and PK?

Week 7 Other NFL Games thread

How the fug does d-bag Chris Berman still have a job on ESPN? -
A little tough to call the season when 95% of the schedule is still ahead. We can look at this early hiccup as has already been posted- 12/6 vs. 11/7, blue line not in sync, goalies atrocious, etc. This is the definitive stat that, by itself, encompasses every issue the Canes are sorting through right now: 165 shots allowed thru 6 games. That is 10 more than the league average right now and is 12th highest in the league. Compare this to last year when the Canes allowed 26 shots per game and finished the season a full 400 shots better than the league average. Couple that with the league's worst save percentage (by a lot) at .818, and you need look no further to see what the issues are here.

I'm out guys. I'll likely not be watching any games for a bit. My first game at PNC is the 7th, so I'll ignore them until then.
-
And collecting a 10-minute misconduct in the process.
-
Unfortunately, because Carolina kept both Andersen and Raanta this season, we won't know until next year when he has an opportunity to play on a consistent basis. Until then, what we see is what we get. That being said, Carolina goalies are, in part, very successful because the guys in front of them don't allow many shots on goal. Not so much this year.
-
Nope. That was as easy as an empty netter.
-
That's game. Canes missing too many pieces and still have not figured themselves out. They'll be lucky to get out of October at .500.
-
That was a bad call. Distinct motion to redirect the puck with the skate, regardless it stayed on the ice or not. That's a no goal everyday in my opinion.
-
I'm going to bed guys. This bad against a bad team, they'll get smoked in Colorado Saturday nite.
-
I'm not a Raanta fan right now, but I guarantee you Kochetkov isn't playing tonite unless Raanta gers hurt.
-
That was pure weak-ass soft, Raanta.

As a precautionary measure, Pyotr Kochetkov was recalled from his AHL team.

There was one angle of a replay that showed the aftermath as TDA and the ref were skating back up the ice and TDA had a palm-up comment like, "WTF?" and caught a whistle as soon as he said whatever it was. Pretty petty stuff. What I liked: Canes skated far better than at any point in any game thus far. Orlov is getting more comfortable with each game. Lemieux is sandpaper... all the time... Turbo is shooting the puck when he has a lane- this is a good thing. Necas is playing with an edge. Jarvy is confident. Challenges: Neither Andersen nor Raanta have been very impressive. TDA still needs to revert back to Canes TDA, not Philly TDA. 26% to the good on PP, but PK sucks at 79% 19 GF, 17 GA.... ugh.... while having up the 4th best shots against average at 25.3!
-
He took a puck between the eyes of the mask. Put him on his knees for a few. He didn't look good trying to stand up. Will have to see if he has concussion symptoms.
-
Skating crazy good, but nothing to show for it.

Nearly every goal allowed has been the result of miserable D on the back end. Yes, there were a couple back door goals that caught a forward out of position, but the rest.... blue line getting caught flat-footed or just playing too deep. Even Slavin got caught the other night, but his back check saved a 2-on-1. There is no excuse for Slavin and Burns. Orlov needs to learn and get acclimated quick and TDA looks like Philly TDA, not Canes TDA. Get Chatty back in there and shore this mess up.
