  1. This is not good hockey right now. They'll get shut out again tomorrow unless something changes overnight.
  2. Always liked that clip of Jordo net front with Yanni Gourde, finally gets the goal while Gourde complained to the ref.
  3. This ia important game. Sets the tone for the rest of the road trip.
  4. Yeah, don't know what he was thinking. No backside help coming, gotta take away the middle.
  5. Coghlan got beat like a drum in front of Raanta. Canes are getting out-hustled. No jump, Florida dictating the pace.
  6. Drury, Kochetov Recalled From Chicago: General Manager Don Waddell announced a pair of transactions for the club in their two days since their contest against Toronto, bringing up forward Jack Drury and goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov from Chicago (AHL). Since October 13, when forward Ondrej Kase was placed into concussion protocol, the Canes have had a roster that's included zero healthy extra forwards. But now with three of the team's next four games coming on the road, including a trip out to Denver, the team felt it was time to add an extra body up front. "I'm not sure if he's going to get in right away, but we need to have that extra body," Rod Brind'Amour said following Tuesday's skate at Invisalign Arena. "He's the top forward [in Chicago]" the head coach continued. "I know he hasn't put up points, but that doesn't really mean anything. It was an easy choice." Drury has produced one goal and two assists through eight games this season with the Wolves. After the recalling up the team's 2018 second round pick on Monday, the team followed that up with the recalling of their 2019 second round pick the next day. Pyotr Kochetkov joined the team in Florida ahead of tonight's contest on an emergency basis after goaltender Frederik Andersen left Tuesday's practice early. Immediately after practice Brind'Amour said, "I don't know what happened there. I'll go in and check on him, but I don't know. He did something." Hours later it was made official that Kochetkov would be joining Raanta for at least tonight's contest. Naughty By Necas: Although his career-long six-game point streak came to a halt on Sunday, Martin Necas enters Wednesday's play tied for 10th among all NHL skaters with his 17 points. Already with five multi-point games to his name, #88 has only not registered in two of the team's 12 games this season. Streaking Svech: Forward Andrei Svechnikov, who enters tonight tied for ninth league-wide with his eight goals, also has a point in four straight games. Injury Report: Forward Ondrej Kase has been in concussion protocol since October 13. Goaltender Frederik Andersen left practice early on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. On The Other Side: Florida has started their time under Paul Maurice 7-5-1. Forward Matthew Tkachuk leads the way with 17 points in 12 games, however, he won't be on the ice tonight as he serves the second game of his two-game suspension. Former Hurricane Eric Staal remains in search of his first point after being inked to a one-year deal in late October. ------------------------------------------- Carolina is favored tonite on the road and Florida is starting Spencer Knight (4-1-0) in goal. Obviously, Raanta is starting for the Canes.
  7. Not only are injuries becoming an issue, they only seem to occur when the team is facing the slightest adversity. Sure, last season may have started with a bang, the team goes undefeated in October, and no matter how much of an aberration that may have been, this October's 2 losses look huge in comparison. The team isn't playing well right now, but I have to believe it's related to the number of new guys in new roles. But Andersen hasn't looked that good, allowing some pretty lazy goals. So, a little adversity, much like last season heading into the playoffs, and all of a sudden there's an injury.
  8. Not to mention the only "farmers" able to afford it are the huge agri-corps like Cargill, ADM, Bayer...
  9. Freddie's save percentage is atrocious thus far. Of course, some of that has to do with him not seeing a lot of shots. But, last night as an example, he only saw 21 shots and let 3 in. 1 was soft, the third was amateur hour stuff. No matter if Slavin got worked, there's no way that goal should have slid under that easily. And let's talk about Slavin's play.... it's suffering with Brent Burns on the other side. Slavin is not comfortable with Burns and he seems to be working overtime trying to cover for Burns. Burns will make a good play, but he'll also make 3 bad ones in between the good ones. Toney DeAngelo got away with being a little more aggressive and jumping in on occasion or pinching deep, but he has the speed and quickness to make up for it. Burns does not. Slavin doesn't trust him yet, and it's costing the team defense. The team's issues right now are the blue line, specifically the Slavin-Burns pair and Chatfield. The new guys are still developing trust and the pairings are not comfortable with each other yet. I wouldn't mind seeing Chatfield on the bench for a couple games and let Coghlan get some ice time.
  10. Lost to an average team. Geez, that was deserved. Did not play well.
  11. Looking very slow, and they had a day off. Not good tonight.
  12. Just me or has Turbo been invisible this season?
  13. Get some net front. Canes are just firing at will, but need to take the goalies eyes away.
  14. Shut the fug up already about Toronto, ESPN. Holy sh!t, just stop! It's fugging non-stop with these people.
  15. Is ESPN paying Matthew's contract? Fug, they won't shut up about him. The greatest American hockey player ever? Please.
  16. 1-0 after 1st period. And the ESPN crew may as well be Toronto announcers. No enthusiasm. The Canes will get a few more tonite. Calling a 4-1 win.
  17. 97 pages (and counting) of posts from Carolina Panthers masochists. And, here we sit with a consistently excellent hockey team, well-run organization, and very few fans. Sports fans in Carolina would rather watch a sh!tshow than follow a winner.
  18. The Leafs handed Boston their first loss of the season last night in Toronto. They also lost Samsonov to injury, but that matters little to the Canes as he was not likely the starter tonight. Matthews scored both goals for the Leafs and, suddenly, Boston looked very tired by the third period. The Canes will almost definitely see Kallgren in net tonight and, to be very honest, he's just not a very good goalie. The Leafs aren't good on the road so far this season either (1-3-2).
  19. Toronto up 1-0 in a fast-paced, physical game halfway thru the first period. Tavares coming off the hattie against Philly the other night. Samsonov is in goal tonite, so I would expect to see Kallgren tomorrow.
  20. Boston is in Toronto tonight. They'll play physical and the Leafs then have to travel to Raleigh for the second game of a back-to-back. Not only will the Canes face a tired team, they'll probably face the Leafs backup goalie.
  21. For those of you who missed it: I know, he had his glove on, but it looked good and got the crowd into the game.
  22. Too many Buffalo fans for my liking. And still a lot of empty seats- place was nowhere close to full last night. The Sabres second goal was a an easy save, looked like Raanta got handcuffed a little, but a softie nonetheless. Aho's best game of the season so far- in ever facet. Face-offs, assists, goals (obviously) and his D was pretty stout last night also.
  23. My wife snatched my hat so fast, I never had a chance. Oh well, it was a few years old.... needed a new one anyway.
  24. Slow and lethargic in the 1st period, so Aho picked the team up and carried them on his back. The right hook will make Sportscenter. So will the hattie.
