  1. Anyone have any insight as to why Kuznetsov's production fell off a cliff this season? Did het get moved to another line and didn't gel? Ice time? What happened in Washington that made him expendable after averaging over 40 points per season for the last 5?
  2. Oh yeah, I won last night. The early afternoon puck drop tomorrow in NJ sucks because I'll be on the road tomorrow afternoon. Will have to catch the radio play-by-play. Standings: Anybodyhome- 7 Harbingers- 5 BY9Franchise- 4 WelshPanther- 4 DavidEng- 3 Panthers Fan 69- 3 DamnitJake!- 2 MillionDollarCam- 1 ---------------------------------------------------------- I'll also make my call for the NJ game: Necas gets off a snipe. He was feeling it last night with 7 shots on net and was handling the puck exceptionally well. Why isn't he in the mix as one of the fastest skaters in the league?
  3. The Pens are a trainwreck. I don't pay much attention to GMs of other teams and I'm not sure who should be held accountable, but I'm not sure why the Pens made Guentzel a trade target. He's the most productive and youngest forward on the team. Crosby is 36 and has 2 more years at $8.7M, Malkin is 37 and has 3 more years at $6.1M, Carter is 39, Reilly Smith is 32, Acciari is 32. Erik Karlsson is 33 and has 5 more years at $10M, Letang is 36. The team is fugging old and slow and will miss the playoffs for the second year in a row, and they moved the guy who probably would have filled Crosby's or Malkin's spot at some point.
  4. I could not be more thankful that I still have my health and mental faculties and I just turned 68. I walk a couple miles on a trail thru the woods every morning with our 2 dogs; I try to always have a project going on- refinishing or re-imagining a piece of furniture; tinkering in my shop. We've been doing Home Chef for over 4 years now- 3 dinners a week. That's as good as my diet gets. Couple minor injuries have kept me out of the gym for some time, but I feel ready to get back to a regular treadmill and weight training 3 times a week. Volunteer work is a day a week, but fulfills my need to be of service. Mom passed at 93 and dad is still kickin' it at 96, so maybe I've got a few more years. Oh, and when you hit Medicare age, you're getting a "physical" every 6 months. One of those is just a "wellness check." Had any falls lately? Know what day of the week it is? Who's the president?
  5. That would have to be with a Guentzel extension.
  6. Freddie has a deal thru next season @ $3.4M per.
  7. And the Canes will continue their habit of not paying goalies...
  8. There's a real likely possibility both Raanta and TDA will clear, maybe even LeMieux.
  9. Won't have to worry about Pospisil trying to goon one of our guys. And the Canes will likely see Vlader instead of Markstrom as the Flames may be shopping their #1 goalie.
  10. Canes now have 6 D-men, which means Pesce is going nowhere. Without LeMieux, I have to believe any deal involving Drury is gone as well. Raanta gone, and Freddie working his way back, does that mean Martin is headed to Chicago once Anderson proves he's ready for a full 60 minutes?
  11. How long does he play? Wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him get the first 20 and sit. After all, he's been out longer than an entire off-season.
  12. I see a Cup hoisting this year!
  13. I still think a blue-liner is due for a goal and Skjei has had some grade As lately, so I'm sticking with him.
  14. Ahead of tonight's match-up at home with the Habs, the standings remain mostly unchanged as Welsh jumps up a spot, but he's the only winner in a few minutes, boys. Let's get back on track. 15. What's the latest on Zegras and/or Vatrano?
  16. Oh, by the way, Tarasenko is now a Florida Panther. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2854503/report-senators-trade-tarasenko-to-panthers-for-picks
  17. I don't know how anyone sees that as a "clean" hit. Pospisil is seeing nothing but numbers and doesn't even slow down. And it's not like Dunk turned at the last minute. Here's the whole story, and it's not good:
  18. I'm usually against moving prospects for anyone at or north of 30 years old in this league. Having Pono for the next 5 years will likely pay off a lot more than a Jake Guentzel for the next 1 or 2 (maybe) seasons. I have to believe Pesce is in play right now and I'm okay with it. Chatty is ready to move up to the 2nd pair and TDA could slot into the 3rd pair. Orlov can also play his off side with Skjei. At least the Canes have options on the blue line.
  19. I'd ask that you take a look at the stats of Noesen and Bunting when they're on his line. I'm not saying KK is a below average hockey player, but he's making a helluva lot of money to not produce at a higher level. Line pairings mean a lot and that line is a mess.
  20. Tag and trade, throw in BY9 and a couple mil, maybe there's a QB out there somewhere.
  21. 2 years @ $52M makes Baker Mayfield suddenly elite.
  22. I made that same observation in the TDL thread. I think I called it a spiteful QO move that has negatively impacted cap space and about made KK impossible to trade.
  23. My take is different, but I will question the head coach and each of the players with a letter on their sweaters. I'll discuss more when I'm sober and not on vacation.
