Forget all the additives, it's tequila kind of day... My last pour of Addictivo Extra Anejo, save for the emergency ounce in the cap

Any time the Rangers lose I am happy, I don't care where they are in the standings. But, it was an OT loss, so they still picked up a point on Carolina. That being said, I think they are fairly inconsequential at this point. However, if they keep losing and the Canes follow suit, they could be a first round matchup.

I'm pretty sure I stated the Canes would lose the division lead after last weekend. I was off by a week. They could lose it after this weekend.
-
Marty Necas screen on Andersen that resulted in the game winning goal was probably the best net front the Canes had all night.

If you take a serious look at some of the "records" the Canes own, and dig deep into their real meaning, this team has a couple issues to address. 1. The blue line leads the league in points. Sounds good, but it it really? Hell, if it wasn't for the blue line last night's game was a shutout loss. And how many times has the defense carried the scoring this year when the forwards disappear? 2. The team has one of the highest shots per game average coupled with one of the lowest goal totals of top 10 teams. Averaging nearly 35 shots on goal per game (4th), but only 239 goals (17th).

Not to mention the Canes are basically stuck with him as both Raanta and Andersen are UFAs in a couple months and there has been no mention of new contracts for either of them.

Take care of business and don't rely on or even look at the other teams' schedules. The Wings are no pushover team, they always give the Canes fits. Our remaining games are all winnable and would close the season on a tear. It's not hard to see Carolina winning each of the remaining games on the schedule: Detroit, Montreal, NYI, Ottawa, Nashville, Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit and Florida. Get to 115 (12 more points) points and the Metro is theirs.

You know Martinook is playing well when every time you look, someone on the opposing team is going after him. He was in Kucherov's head less than 10 minutes into the game.
-
Game over. That was lazy, sorry hockey. Give the Canes a chance to put some distance between them and 2nd place and they melt. I'm out.
-
Who's on the PP? Sure looks like TB.
-
And immediately gives up a weak 5 hole under the pad again. Does not bode well when the Canes don't score halfway thru the game.
-
I don't care what anyone thinks- Chatty & Noesen are my top 2 over-achievers this season.
-
And getting away with murder behind the net. At least 3 times Canes went down behind their own net when being tripped or interfered. 1 blatant stick holding non-call on Maroon when he was literally sitting on the ice holding Staal's blade.
-
Slavin made a quick stop-turn along the boards and went down awkwardly. Looks okay. Canes need to keep the pressure on in their zone. The opportunities are there.

In 2016 my wife and I rafted the Colorado through the Grand Canyon. Trip of a lifetime. Because it is a National Park, the number of people permitted to raft is limited and only allowed once per year per person. I started planning the trip a year in advance and it was worth every minute of waiting, looking forward and experiencing. Fly to Vegas and we stayed at the Marriott near the convention center. Next morning, we take a bus to Henderson and hop aboard a Cessna 208 Caravan with about 8 other people and fly into the Bar 10 Ranch, an operating ranch established before the park was created and, therefore, grandfathered in to operate as a private business. Dinner, horseback riding, ATVs and we stay overnight there. Next morning it's a helicopter down to the river where you meet and load onto a raft loaded with enough food, camping gear and 2 guides for the next 3 nights and 4 days on the river. You can also take a full 7 days on the river starting further up-river

How soon we forget that Carolina went thru their playoff run last year with their #2 and AHL recall goalie in net when Freddie went down. And, I'm sorry, but Boston doesn't scare me. The Canes played them 3 times this season. The first in November with the AHL recall goalie in net (in Boston) and it took the Bs to get to OT and a win. Second time was in Raleigh and Boston was never in it while Carolina rolled up a 4-1 win. Third game was yesterday, again in Boston and again, it took a SO win by the Bruins. From a point perspective, the season was split 4-4. Last season, Carolina beat Boston in the 1st round.
-
Boston had an OT and a SO win against the Canes, so they also had 4 points. Remember, an OT or SO turns it into a 3-point game (2 for the winner, 1 for the loser).
-
Loss is on Andersen. The last 2 goals and 1 of the shootout goals were weak as fug. No #37 and mediocre goaltending will be the demise of the Canes in a short playoff season.
-
Even Reggie calls it like he sees it.
-
True garbage PP. Carolina looks like ass.
-
Bruins with 10 shots in the 1st half of the 1st period. On pace for a 60-shot game on Freddie. No way Canes win that.
-
Look, if I'm being honest, Storm Brew is just not good beer. And I'm no hipster craft beer critic, I just appreciate a good, old fashioned, cold beer on very rare occasions.
-
I have a feeling NJ's goaltending will be what exposes them in the playoffs.

If anyone here thinks the Canes can give up 44 shots to Boston and still expect to win... well, I don't know what to tell you. I missed the game last night but watched the highlights this morning and when I saw the shot total, I was a little wary. What happened to the D? Ineffective forecheck? How did a 2-line team get 44 shots on goal? Allow 44 shots to Boston today and the Canes will need to score 7 to win...

The Canes enjoy a small, 2-point lead on the Devils and they have 2 games in hand. NJ is also back home today for the second game of a back-to-back with Ottawa in town. Even with 2 games in hand, a 2-point lead says, "Take care of your own business and let the chips fall where they may." Maintain or build on the 2-point lead with a win, or keep the lead or, perhaps, fall into a tie with NJ. It's about points now. Not so much beating the other guy, who we dislike immensely. If #52 was in the starter's crease this morning, then he's starting. On the other side of that coin is #31, who has stood on his head the last 2 games. None of the goals allowed were really on him as much as defensive lapses. Not sure which pill you'd rather swallow- the defensive lapse or the goalie giving up the easy one now and then. I'll take the defensive lapse, because there's still a chance the goalie comes up huge.
