  1. The trick is to not have as many one score games next year. Replacing XL with Coker and TMac having more experience will help with that.
  2. It's all good. I can disagree with you but still respect your opinion.
  3. This maybe unpopular, but I would venture to sway that Coker is the best receiver on the roster at the moment. TMac has more potential, but as of today, Coker is the better receiver. Over the last 5 games: Coker: 24 targets, 19 catches, 79.6% comp, 3 TDs and 255 yards TMac: 26 targets, 14 catches, 53.8% comp, 2 TDs and 231 yards. Career wise: Coker; 89 targets, 872 yrds, 73% comp, 0 drops, 5 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 113 when passing TMac; 122 targets, 1014 yrds, 57.4% comp, 8 drops, 7 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 83 when passing Cokers numers are very similar to Theilen's and Theilen was a 10 year vet who has been to the PB twice. Coker; 89 targets, 872 yrds, 73% comp, 0 drops, 5 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 113 when passing Theilen; 199 targets, 1629 yrds, 76% comp, 9 drops, 9 TDs and BY has a QB rating of 104 when passing If TMac can bring his comp numbers up a bit, this offense could be pretty legit. And one final tidbit of information. Going all the way back to Cokers' senior year at college, he has only had 2 drops. Pretty amazing.
  4. We also had bounces go against us. In the Tampa game alone there were 4 bad calls - 2 that directly affected points on the board. Our oline has been beat up most of the season and we started the season with a rookie and a no2 receiver who has only caught 54% of his passes and has had the most penalities on the offense. I agree that typically winning a lot of close games one season leads to losses the next but this is a young offense (no pun intended) that's had to learn to work together. As long as Tmac and Coker both stay healthy and the Oline can get healthy, they will be better next year.
  5. No, but needless to say I do not disagree with him.
  6. So Jones is a no go ( we can debate on who is better between the two later ). Since he isn't the long term answer, who else is there you could bring in. I think Willis is gonna cost too much and won't want to come here unless he can be the starter
  7. I think someone is going to pay big for Willis. But I agree, having a plan B is always smart.
  8. It never fails. Everytime I bring up Young in a post, the three amigos ( electro's horse, mrcompletely11 and CRA. ) always show up. electro never says anything related to the post, mrcompletely just says "look how good electro sounds" and CRA never says anything new. Responding to any of them is just a waste of time.
  9. So you think Mac Jones would be an improvement over Young and would bring him in next year? He's signed with SF through 2026 so it will cost something to get him here. Bryce is only 9M and it's gauranteed. I looked at his numbers and statistically, they are very similar to Youngs. I doubt he would be an improvement.
  10. It's a serious question regardless of electro's nonsense post. The limit is they have to be available net season. So they need to be a free agent or someone from the draft. Or, if there is a BU QB the Panther's could legitimately trade for. SO it needs to be realistic.
  11. Who specifically would you bring in that would be better than Young. I do not need the complete list of FA's. Just tell me which available QB you would bring in that you think would upgrade the Panthers' offense next year.
  12. Read it and weep https://www.nfl.com/news/weighing-fifth-year-options-for-2023-nfl-draft-s-first-round-selections
  13. Coker is a stud. Hopefully Bryce will realize that Saturday.
  14. Agreed they are not. The real question is, if he can do it on 4th downs, why isn't he doing it on other downs. Crazy.
  15. To address your comment on him "stepped away from Football", I can see how it would look like he is not dedicated but that first season was pretty brutal. His HC never wanted him, then he was fired so he had to work with an interim coach as well as listen to the 15 other coaching gurus Tepper brought in that year, on what to do. He didn't have any real receivers to work with and half the fans hated him from the get go simply because he was small. That's pretty tough. With his dad being a therapist, I could see him telling Young to simply step away for a bit to get recharged. I realize I may be reading "excuses" in but I have a hard time believing that anyone who has played that position at an extremely high level for all their life, didn't do so without some serious dedication to the craft.
  16. He did well with those anticipation throws when working with AT who was more of a finesse route runner. TMac isn't that yet. I've watched his footwork and his tendency to "jump" when passing. Yeah, I don't think that will ever change simply because he has to do that. Kurt Warner has an episode on Young against the Bucs and he makes the same critiques you are making concerning his footwork. When I watched his film, what I saw was Bryce "jumping" when he had a defender directly in his face - or at least in close proximity to him. When he was throwing through a gap with a clear line of site, his footwork was fine. I would guess he has developed that trait to overcome his height limitations. Kind of like a survival technic. He had to either learn how to work around the height discrepancies or not play. Getting on his toes give's him a couple of inches. I don't think he will ever have "proper" footwork simply because it does not work at his height.
  17. I am not saying that at all. My point is you have a relatively new QB with a relatively new HC. The only veteran presence he had was AT and he lost him at the beginning of the season. He also lost Coker. Young is limited by his physical nature but makes up for it by anticipating routes and throwing receivers to a spot. AT was very good at that. Like Young, he isn't gifted physically but he knew how to find the openings and could be at the spot Young anticipated. That is why they were so good together. I also am not saying AT is better than TMac. TMac is a stud and could wind up being the best receiver the Panthers have ever had. But this is his first year in the NFL and right now he is relying on his physical traits more than experience/knowledge. As he and Young get more experience together, I think you will see his completion % increase and with that you will see Youngs' number improve. Will they ever improve enough to satisfy those around here who don't like him, I doubt it. But I think they could improve enough to be a viable QB for some NFL team, whether here or someplace else. And finally, I strongly disagree with him not being dedicated. Not really sure where that comes from.
  18. AT played the last seven games of the season and out of those seven, Bryce had 5 of his best games for the year. You stated Bryces' best performance was in 24 and he looked more confident then. I agree. He seems to have lost some confidence and performace - he also lost his best receiver and the only receiver with any experience. I can't help but think the two are related. No doubt I am disappointed in his performance this year. He has regressed. I just think the receiving corps he has to work with can explain some of that regression.
  19. Adam Thielen averaged 12.8 yds/rec, 61.5 yds/game and had a catch rate of 77.4% in 24. Tmac has played well and will be a stud but he is just a rookie and while he has good numbers, his catch rate is only 57.4%. Losing Thielen was more of a loss than most people realize. Young's numbers should improve with TMac and Coker getting experience but that will take time which most people around here do not have so he may be gone before that ever happens.
  20. As I have already posted, we will not win if we go in with the same game plan as the last time and agree with everything you said. I just don't understand how the original post addresses any of that. All he did was post numbers illustrating how poor the offense has performed which everyone is already aware of.
  21. But you are right. I shouldn't be here if I don't have anything constructive to say so I am out.
  22. Gotcha. So when can we expect your Defense and Special teams evaluations. Hopefully you can get to that before the weekend.
