Luck was a good QB before Reich got there. If you look at his stats, they are pretty much the same as the previous year under Pagano so I wouldn't say his success was because of Reich. In the years following Luck retiring, Reich went through 4 different QB while havine a 30-29 record I believe. For what it's worth, I also like Wilks and felt he earned the opportunity to be the HC. My guess is he was too head strong for Tepper.

Sorry I missed this but depending on how the year plays out, I would say extend him BUT it would have to be on terms aligned with his play.

Are you seriously comparing a 14 year vet who went to 7 playoff games to a rookie being developed by a coach who would be fired that same year. Seriously?
-
Dalton played against the Raiders who went 4-13 so I'm not so sure it was such a massive achievment. In his next game against the Bengals, he threw for 220 yrd, 2 tds and an int. To put that in perspective, The Bengals gave up 321 passing yrds to the Commanders the previous week and gave up 371 yrds passing the following week to the Ravens so Dalton seriously underperformed there. Then the following week against the Bears, Dalton passed for a total of 136 yrds and an int. Not sure how you can justify using Dalton to illustrate how badly young has done.

Like I said, I give him a pass on that first season. I just don't think any QB would have been successful given the coaching. I look at bryce and see what he did last season after his benching. Apparently everyone else looks at Bryce in 2023 and 2025 only. We all see what we want to see.
-
I am sure you are including his first year under Reich. You know, the previously fired HC that was then also fired 10 games into Bryce'srookie season. Not really sure it's fair to include those but I suppose it helps your arguement. To help my arguement, I looked at his ypa since his benching and for his second year, it was 6.73. Drew Brees for comparison was 6.2 his second year and 5.9 his third year so I don't think your stat is a good indicator of future success.

Thank you. I'll leave you with this. “Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

We must be looking at different stats lol

Not trying to be argumentative here but comparing their second season, Bryce was actually signifcantly better. He won a higher percentage of games (50% compared to 37%) and he had 4 game winning drives while Baker didn't have any. Secondly, I'm not sure you can say Bryce has had a career so far. His first year was a waste given the coaching so I kind of measure him from when he was benched till now. Some will say I am cherry picking but I think its a fair giving the coaching that first year. And you may be right about Young, I just hope not as I really don't want to have to go through another QB.
-
2) So you are saying it was the coaching that lead to both his failure and success? Hummmmm......
-
Pretty sure his first two didn't do anything postivie towards his development. If anything, they damaged him. Not using that as an excuse...just saying.
-
And Young played as well, if not better, than the one who was never bad when comparing their second seasons.
-
Gladly
-
What if Young starts playing like he did after his benching last season. What does it say then?
-
My bad but thanks

You see, this is why I'm more critical of Dave Canales

Not sure there are any other options at this time or they would have already implemented them. I think Canales needs to do a better job with time management, play calling and having the players ready but I can't make any of that happen. I think him supporting Legette is fine but I don't think he has earned the no 2 receiver spot - hell, not even the 3 or 4 spot but I would guess he will still be out there next Sunday. I don't thnk Evero should have been brought back but he was. Again, I don't have an answer - I just don't think Young is as much of the problem as most people here believe.

No, if he ends the season doing badly I'll admit it. I'm not so invested in him or my ego that I can't admit that everyone on the board was right. In the meantime, I have hope he can turn it around
