Burns is what? 25. He isn't elite but he is a good pass rusher and is learning to be much better against the run. He is a probowler and will get paid as such. As long as we manage the guaranteed money we can pay him a boatload which he will see if he keeps improving or may not see all of it if he drops off. I wish more contracts were incentive based.

I thought he made a good point about coaching. We have the best head coach and staff in the division. We went 6-6 with Wilks who got stuck with who we had and was shorthanded in the secondary both coaches and players. If as Cowherd said that coaching was 30-40 % of winning and we have equal talent and superior coaches then it isn't too crazy to predict a winning season even with Young at QB. With Dalton as backup if Bryce gets hurt we can still make some noise.

With both guards potentially out for a while, we have to have swing players like Erving to shore up everything in the event of setbacks or injury. He doesn't suck............

Actually he said he had Baker rated higher than any of the 2023 prospects so it isn't a leap to assume that if Baker was coming out this year that Ariens would have picked him. And Baker has experience good or bad. So yeah Ariens thinks he has a better deal. And until Young shows his ability it isn't just hyperbole. Personally I think Mayfield isn't a good quarterback who can be effective in the right scheme as long as he has a lot of talent. Not something he has in Tampa.

Seems McAdoo did pretty well with Darnold so he wasn't the problem. Rhule on the other hand- yeah he was inadequate at best.

Not trying to plug the Riot but they did a fantastic job in London. I like trips that are planned like this. All I had to do was show up and enjoy. Their team took care of all of us and did a great job. I will be going with the Riot when we go to Munich for sure.

I did the Riot trip and went with family to Paris on our own after the game. Cheaper and we had lots of fun. Stayed overnight and had a Parisienne meal etc.

Predicting success it is a crapshoot at best particularly when you don't know how they will do in the scheme they will play or who their coaches and teammates will be.

Don't agree at all. How many times did Snow rush only 3 in pass defense. He was doubled all the time. When we were getting gashed by the run all the time what did you think they told Brown? Focus on getting to the quarterback or focus on the run first and then worry about the pass versus Burns for example who always went wide to go for the sack. Brown has obviously improved but his 2022 was also influenced by a difference DC and scheme. So yeah it was scheme and what he was asked to do.

He gets double teamed on many plays and from what I have seen is more of a 2 gap space eater than a 1 gap rusher. Hence why he doesn't get a ton of sacks. To me our defense was set up to rush from the edge and sent linebackers and safeties to blitz last year. Under snow we played a ton of 3 man rushes with 8 in the secondary how exactly would Brown pile up a bunch of sacks? To me it is about how we used Brown not about his abilities.

Football is a copy cat league. Coaches see what others do that works and take elements for their own use. Since we are fitting the offense to our personnel it will be our version of offense using concepts from various influences. That is what everyone does. Reading this thread I thought the exact same thing. From what I have read Reich let his OC make the playback without much input so he wasn't steering him too much to what Reich would run. Of course Reich said that he would be integrating things and tweaking the playback but Thomas brought a lot of Sean McVays offense with him. He said he wants to take advantage of our strengths so we will be running a lot to take pressure off Bryce. We will take advantage of our good offensive line. He said the goal is to be able to run or pass out of the same formation so the defense has to defend both on every play. He said his scheme is to win. One game we might throw 40 times the next run 40 times. Adapt and do what works.

If you find that you are always upset because people or things don't meet your expectations, then lower your expectations and you will be happier. That doesn't mean you can't hope that the Panthers are much improved just don't expect it and then when we are you will be much happier. And if you are pessimistic you are expecting bad things that is much different from lowering your expectations.

Ben was wrong. When something good happens for a pessimist they think it won't last and you can't be happy because now something bad will be next. Where an optimist will take a good thing be happy and expect more good things will happen. If you have to be a pessimist so you don't get disappointed you clearly aren't resilient likely have low frustration tolerance and are emotionally immature. I am an optimist and find my life is good and I can root for the Panthers and deal with losses or wins with little problem. Part of being an optimist is looking for the positives even in bad situations and choosing your attitude in spite of circumstances. Whereas pessimists stay unhappy and manage to see the negative in every situation. No thanks....
