FO are somthing that you can work to fix..... Jarvis is a worker. No doubt that by the end of the year he would have it around 50% His % is bad because hes going agaist top guys after aho gets the boot and a low number taken.
-
Lol Janakowski provides more offense. A smart move would be putting Jarvis at 2C

Goes a nice way after the Rantaneen fisco! Also It seems Nino put in a good word for us and it helped finalize it for him.

Best draft picks ever at each slot (4 Panthers)
PantherChris replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
And a third DB was taken with a pick we traded.... #14 Revis -
I think its Jarvis Stankoven is even smaller than Jarvy and isnt as good defensively. Ive wanted Jarvis at center for a while... I think hes PPG easy at C and probably a Selke winner at that

Not an excuse STAR goalies are just NOT traded.... Best bet of that would be the Rangers sucking real hard and going full rebuild but they wouldnt want to trade us and if they did it would hurt. Star goalies don't grow on trees.... Not to mention the past two years it didnt matter who we had in goal..... when you turn the puck over like that and get out muscled in the middle of the ice it doesn't matter who is in net.

See thats the problem is you need an upgrade and lots of people have a spare bit of cap space. The best bet is finding someone who can take 30ish regular season starts at the same level as our guys.... I do not believe there will be anyone who would be a post season upgrade available this season.

The athletic has the right Idea IMO Jarvis will be our 1B center..... https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6472946/2025/07/04/hurricanes-lineup-miller-ehlers/

Yes we are weak at 2C, I wouldnt say C overall just we have Aho and then 3 guys who should be third Cs..... If we dont aquire someone I suspect we will finally see Jarvis at center this year. I see what you mean with Freddie, and I agree to an extent I think we should limit his regular season starts and focus on keeping him healthy for the playoffs. He has been very good in the post season contrary to what some casuals think we DID not lose because of Freddie.... 2.02 GAA and a .907 % We lost to florida because our small offensive D men couldn't keep the Panthers from parking right in front of him.

In theory that would be nice, but i can almost guarantee you no one who will be an upgrade will be available.... much less a "stud" This is a list of goalies who are free agents in 2026 aka possibly be sold at the deadline..... the only one I see that might help us is a retread in Ned.... (honestly should have never gotten rid of him hes performed admirably in much worse situations since leaving).
-
That's the thing the more I go back and watch him (agaist teams that arent the canes) the more im sure i don't think he really has to fix anything, he has all the tools to excel immediately in our scheme, as its more quick read and react.

KKs flaws are he isnt a good skater, He isn't a playmaker and although he has a booming shot his wind up is so long he almost never gets it off. His sole value is as a defensive checking center. Basically I just meant a bust at the point we acquired him, which yeah he definitely was, Miller definitely was not... he had problems with Laviolets hybrid man/zone. Our defensive scheme is VERY friendly to big athletic/good skating d men.... Sjkei and Chatfield are great examples of it.... and while I do think we paid a lot I believe in our scheme Miller will pay big dividends.
-
I meant when we acquired him he was a full on bust for Montreal, heck considering he was a #3 pick he is a bust. I wont argue he would be a serviceable low end #3 center but lets be real a guy drafted #3 should be much better.
-
There is no comparison between the two..... KK was a bust, Miller had a rough year in laviolettes system but he does produce.
-
Hey at least you never get sticker shock!

In fairness you pretty consistently OVERESTIMATE what extensions and signings will be.... Last year you were swearing the Elhers # would be Jarvis. In the future just take a 1 to 1.5 off what you think will happen

Canes still have 10.5M in cap space we arent done yet.

The Canes still have 9.5 million in cap space..... more moves via trade i imagine

And even worse you have injuries force you to play anther one dimensional train wreck combine that with Orlov being no were close to as advertised and boom you have 3 defensemen being dressed who couldn't defend my 96 year old grandmother. That said next year having Slavin,Miller,Nikishin,Chatfield gives you the best shutdown d man in the league two large athletic HIGH offensive potential D who can take away time and space.... The more I think about it the more I like this seasons approach, if you bring back burns or aquire anther large RHS with length you have 5 D all over 6'2 and 210 with three of them having great offense too, make no mistake they want size and skill on the blue line now and its almost 100% directed at getting past FL.
